Last time I checked, a “flop” was determined by expectations, not actual numbers. Flop may be a error of hyperbole, but the fact that it DIDN’T meet expectations = flop by industy standards…. Not hatin, cuz I think 50’s hungrier than he’s been since pre-GRODT, and I like what I’ve been hearing from his camp this year… I say all this to say that the fact that 50 just GAVE AWAY 2 quality mixtapes shows that he’s figuring out that just because you can brag about having the most sales doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re the MOST relevant in a fickle market. K-Rob, I hope you’re gettin paid for this because if not you are simply in denial… Got too much work today 4 this pointless ish.

a little label like koch gets money off of almost any album that moves some units, because they have very little overhead and promotion costs

they have a mdoel where a dude can do 50,000 the first week and koch still cakes off of it

interscope has a marketing machine that it deploys for albums like 50’s and 50’s albums have to do tremendously well for them to even start making money

and fyi — they didn’t make money off of curtis. that’s why all 50 can say is “my fans liked it.” is he saying interscope got rich off of it? no. because they didn’t. they took a loss.

what has happened is that the industry has changed and you guys are still looking at just units. it’s not that simple. the projections for 50’s album were enormous and it didn’t come close to meeting expectations.
