[...] Fresh off their potentially career-ending exposé on the true origins of Chuck Philips’ Tupac story, The Smoking Gun has set its sights on Akon’s alleged past as the leader of a lucrative car theft ring. I just got finished reading their report, and if it’s as accurate as it sounds, somebody has a lot of explaining to do. While the performer’s rap sheet does include a half-dozen arrests, Akon has only been convicted of one felony, for gun possession. That 1998 New Jersey case ended with a guilty plea, for which the singer was sentenced to three years probation. Another 1998 bust, this one in suburban Atlanta, has been seized upon by Akon and transformed into the big case that purportedly sent him to prison (thanks to his snitching cohorts) for three fight-filled years. In reality, Akon was arrested for possession of a single stolen BMW and held in the DeKalb County jail for several months before prosecutors dropped all charges against him. [...]

One of the other writers on Highbrid Nation did a story on Pac and the craziness surrounding that shooting and I wondered what other were saying about this. It seems to me that this is something the news media refuses to let go. Everyone wants to be the one who solves the crime. In reality what are the chances of us solving a 15 year old crime? And in the end does it matter? That shooting did not lead to Pac's death. He recovered from that shooting. So what's the fuss about?

[...] L.A. Times reporter Chuck Philips and his supervisor, deputy managing editor Marc Duvoisin, have both issued apologies over what now appears to be a completely erroneous report on the 1994 shooting of Tupac Shakur. Questions about the report, which implicated Diddy and Jimmy Henchmen in Pac’s ambush, started to arise yesterday after the Smoking Gun published an article questioning Philips’ source documents. Philips said he sought to check the authenticity of the documents with the U.S. attorney’s office in New York, which had handled the investigation of the attack on Shakur, and with a retired FBI agent, but did not directly ask the FBI about them. The U.S. attorney’s office declined to comment, while the former FBI agent said the documents appeared legitimate, Philips said. [...]

Did anyone see the previews for that Suge knight show? That shit is gonna be awf da chain. I was rolling when I saw it.

Some nigga came into the office and one of the mangers told him to take off his sunglasses because he couldn't see his eyes. Nigga got buck, and said I don't take my glasses off for nobody". The manager or someone rose up like he was about to steal on him, and the dude with the glasses started running out the door.

Lol, niggas started fighting in the lobby. That shit is wild.

Yea, Ike was saying he read it in the DC city paper. Both reports could be true. The DC area isnt the best place to go if you're looking for bad snow bunnies so maybe was just working with what was there. Or he read the City Paper article and realized he needed to step his shit up.
