Who knows the legalities of sampling? Like, when an artist signs off on a sample do they get paid? How much? Kanye samples on almost every track he produces, so does he come out of pocket for all of them? Is it based off his own sales? Does the original artist get paid, or is it whoever owns those rights (label, etc.)? Somebody help me out.

Bobby brown said that he felt a sort of way when Britney spears re-did his song, but as soon as he saw the checks, he had no problems with it. I think it depends on certain songs how much compensation they get.
