Whats good Nah?
*daps all in vicinity*
This song is exactly what (I think) we’ve all been wanting to hear from Ra for a while now. I think this joint is shitting on the one he did at the VH1 Honors joint. couldnt really absorb the lyrics, but it knocks. and thats all that matters.

You’re one of the only dude’s on Nah I consistently agree with on music matters, from Tribe/Pete & CL/Gang Starr down to Ra and them.

Damn.
I wanted Coppin to play the Heels so bad. I know many would bet on NC, but an underdog like Coppin with nothin’ to lose woulda came out swingin’.

there’s a couple of certified oldheads on nah
^^ The way I see it, dudes in their 30’s have a broader range of experience in Hip Hop to draw on when assessing the merits of the latest new jack emcee. If you don’t remember fake rappers ducking for cover when OC dropped “Time’s Up” or every dude wanting three cuts in your eyebrow when Kane dropped “Half Steppin”, how you going to talk to me about Hip Hop? How is a dude going to compare the latest hot emcee to any of the greats?
Controversial opinion I know. Others would say I’m out of touch… fuck do I know about what the kids are feeling nowadays etc etc.

^in all fairness it would be difficult for any rapper coming up in Jay’s shadow. Can you imagine being in the studio with jay, after hearing Jay lay his verse. You probably thought your verse was hot until jay spit his. Nigga Bleek prolly went through countless note book paper. I love to hear the stories of when 2 MC’s collabed on somthing, how they say the other made them have to go harder; competition at its best.

Same rhymes as “It’s Nothing” but the beats better than Just Blaze’s over-dramatic version.

^^^^ mr old head numberwhoknows here co-sigs the co-sign.
my thing is it’s just a matter of what’s considered good, innovative, etc. that’s all i care about. there’s nothing new under the sun, and one thing i’m noticing in those old head/new kid convos (that i quickly step way from because i don’t feel like hearing shit that has nothing to do with shit, really) is that the neither takes into consideration that trash is trash. both “generations” have our fair share of WACK ass mcees/rappers, as well as a baby handful of really good standouts. and those standouts always know and respect their history. the one thing that i notice is that the old heads always talk about how wack the new heads are, but they never think how wack cats were when we were coming up and how many, just like now. the new kids never take into consideration that the old heads only see the wack new heads and are commenting mostly on those wack heads because they saturate the airwaves so much that they outshine the good that’s out now, thus inadvertently lumping in the good with the bad. in my opinion, it’s a matter of just trying to keep focus on the good. both “generations” have to keep in mind that we wouldn’t be where we are if it wasn’t for the old stuff (both good and bad, shout out to hammer), and we wouldn’t be such a strong and popular culture if it wasn’t for what is now and what’s to come (again both good and bad. although i’m afraid of what soulja boy and mims is going to do next)…
