Busta Reeling From Brutal Wrist Slap

Trevor was in court today for his sentencing on charges of beating up a fan and his former driver, plus driving drunk and with a suspended license. The damage? Three years probation, 10 days of community service and a $1250 fine. But don’t worry, the judge warned him that if he messes up just one more time, he’s definitely going to jail.

how much did these albums sell?
- prodigy - return of the mac
- freeway - free at last
- scarface - made
- ghostface - big toe rehab
DOPE albums, but minimal sales. quality has nothing to do with it.
^^^
Quality has everything to do with it if the records is actually promoted. It’s not a coincidence that none of the above albums had videos (with the exception of Scarface) or promotion (none of them was on my local radio station or 106/TRL). Good music will sell if mufuckas are actually aware that it’s out.

you cats talking about timberlake and alicia keys sales.
these artists have a more mature audience which is a) less familiar with illegal downloads, and b) still used and inclined to having music on cd’s so they can play it on their stereo or car system.
^^^
So how do we explain TI?? I dont think he’s a fluke, I just think he’s a got a label that actually puts the nessessary amound of $ behind him to garner decent sales.

nah. wack music is to blame. fans began seeing through the fakeness in hip hop and stopped caring about the music, cuz they realized the artists don’t care about the music and will do and say anything to sell a million records. fans started downloading to take back control
^^
if that was the case only rap sales would be going down. any other genre that might not have been diluted is suffering all the same.
^^^
yeah everybody’ suffering. but rap is the only genre thats been shoved in people’s faces the hardest for the last few years. we’ve watched it go from just being labeled a “fad†and “nigger music†to taking the country by storm to NWA to the Golden Era to Pac and Big to to 50 Cent to ringtone rap
we’ve watched it’s every incarnation and its now its reached passed it’s peak of creativity as a whole genre (minus many artists of course)

ALL music sales are down. Its just not rap. It’s not so much quality. There is only 1 Justin Timberlake and one Alicia Keyes. There are always going to be exceptions.
If kanye dropped Graduation in 99 he would have been 5 times platinum by now. As a whole music is getting downloaded.
All those albums that your parents and your grandparents lost. They ask you “can you download that for meâ€. The Compact disc is a thing of the past. People are able to get music for free.
Promotion wont help anyone sell records, if they already dont have the crowd following. No record company is going to spend money on someone just so they can sell 20,000 more records.
Really how much is promotion going to help someone sell? 100k at most?
200K= Gold in 98

Cost of beats are goint up
cost of production is going up.
A music company is taking in more than what it is putting out.
the sale of cd’s are still the same 13.99-18.99
So music companies are not going to risk money and go broke just so they can hear “quality” music.
there are always exceptions but they are few and far between. T.I., wayne, Em, 50 and Jay and maybe Jeezy. Its thousands of cats trying to rap and only 5 -10 are really caking.

king wasn’t even a good album, it was pretty average IMO. i dont know, quality might have a little impact on rap sales but for the most part it’s just a general process that affects the music and movie industry in general. the solution for rappers is: more tours (why aren’t d-block, uncle murda, etc. never on tour in europe? laziness? because their egos are too big for little clubs. take a clue from cats like smiff-n-wessun, o.c., masta ace, etc. - they’re not millionaires, but they’re making money) and more merchandise (underground rock bands make most of their money with shirts etc.).

350K for who? and name the rapper. NO amount of promotion can help ghost sell 350k more. You throw all that money at him just to break even? That’s not the type of business they run. Its a for-profit business.
Good promotion helps but in this day and era you need to develop a buzz on your own.

33k….wow…thats a fuckin disgrace…
and Fat Joe had claimed to have shipped out 500k copies of his cd….
even if this fat fuck is telling the truth about make $6.50 a cd..WHICH IS A BOLD FACE LIE, but will let it ride just for the sake…
it would only equal…. 33,000 x 6.50 = $214,500
and then he probably spent like $150,000 promotin his garbage, or more… like when he flys out to LA to promote on radio or tv, he has to pay airfare hotel and all that bullshit..cause the label don’t pay because he independent…
and the video he shot with J.Holiday which was a pricey video was NOT paid for by the label, he had to pay…
he shot another video for Brolic or whatever…
to promote those videos he had to pay all outta his pocket….
and J.Holiday & KRS-One and whoever else he paid to guest feature, he had to pay outta his own pocket
all the production costs (beats, mastering, engineering, etc) all had to come outta Fat Joe’s skinny piggybank
remember label don’t pay for none of that, all they do is put the physical cd in stores..
so after all that he left with nothing, he owes…
just think about all that…
and don’t worry after this week he not selling barely anymore copies…not anything that’s gone be signicfant atleast…
wow this fat boy is in the red….
