==============================================
Yeah, opinions are why “hip hop stays losing”. Wise words.
Nothing to do with rampant commercialism creating a lack of diversity and an unwillingness to embrace originality as it is ‘untested in the marketplace’. Nothing to do with the ringtone phenomenon and it’s major demographic being teenagers (who, on the whole, like that manufactured artless bullshit). Nothing to do with corporate culture-hijacking. Nothing to do with b-boys and b-girls becoming disillusioned from wading through the shitty music looking for that soulful, ‘real’ music. Nothing to do with the download culture making it difficult to make money off a Jay-Z release, never mind a J-Zone release. Nothing to do with Indie labels (who once we could rely on to deliver that uncut raw) trying to emulate majors by putting out formulaic “Baaaalllling” bullshit, partly as a result of the last point. Etc Etc Etc.
No… it’s opinions. Opinions and personal preference. That’s why “Hip Hop stays losing”… Cause Webbie is bullshit, and Masta Ace is not. Cause Wayne is a half decent emcee who gets hyped like a muhfucker, and AG is a legend but doesn’t get his props.

Fuxito… Nah, we all lose the way I see it.
One of these days, we won’t be able to cop physical releases other than from 4 or 5 artists, whoever has a Sprite commercial-tie in. Either that, or the music will become so homogenized, I won’t be able to tell who is who. It will have that same generic beat, emcees from the Bronx using the same slang as dudes from the Bay, everybody will be a Blood… Shit… that’s all happened already!
And for the record, I’m not ‘Southern-ist’. Truly. I prefer East Coast boom-bap, no doubt, but all flavours, if they are real, add to this art form. But… when New York dudes start to put three Southern-sounding tracks on their album to cover a demographic and help their album sell more, then ‘art’ has been compromised heavily. I remember when dudes like OC had to put one track on their album with an R&B star on the hook (Far From Yours is an example) that might catch the ear of the ‘general public’ ie. not the purely Hip Hop crowd. Now, labels won’t sign-off on an album or promote it (Joe Budden is a classic example, Meth and Red too I suppose) if they don’t have that current ‘Hot’ sound.
TI, Wayne, whoever… it might not be my preference but at least, on the whole, it’s genuine. XXL or whoever giving shine to any copycat dude who follows the latest ‘Hot’ trend and has enough label cash to pay for advertising… shit, I don’t know. I’d rather they gave shine to an architect, school these young-un’s on Just Ice, Schooly D or King Tee. No money in that though.
I nearly talked myself into depression here. As a figurative olive branch to the South, I’m going to dig in the crates for that Mind Playing Tricks on Me 12″… fire up the 1200′s.

You’re conditioned to think that someone who raps such and such away is more talented than a person who raps the opposite of that person..
Your view of talent is something vastly different on what others might view as talent, simply because music in itself is a subjective art form…
I dont find death metal to be pleasing but others might say otherwise…Do I dare question the validity of someone’s talent in that genre of music?

o and heres the third time i’m gonna post this today, I warned you people I’m on mission
So The Wire did it again, David Simon is a genius
I just did a tribute post for the greatest show ever made anyone wanna check it out, I’m gonna do more posts on the actual finale and the fates of the characters in the next couple of days but for now my goal is too try and reach everyone who has never seen the show and make them see the light and go back and watch every last episode and thats what this post is all about, there has never been a show as real or in depth as The Wire and I don’t care who you are or where your from you can most definitely relate to the show and it’s characters. There also has never been such a rewarding show in history, seriously the pay offs and the emotional roller coaster the show takes you through are absolutely amazing.
If you have never seen it or only watched a couple episodes please for your own sake ready my post and hopefully you will realize the show is about much more than you think and if you still won’t watch it then my job still isn’t done and I will continue to beat you over the head with it until you wake up and see for yourself.
just click on my name to check it out, it might be long but it’s worth it I promise if you let yourself check the show out you will love it even if you hate TV in general cause thats just the point The Wire doesn’t follow any normal TV formulas or scripts it sets it’s own standards and feels as real as TV can

If he is leaving it’s probably for the better, maybe he has a better oppurtunity, maybe he just doesn’t need the loot anymore ? shit I left my job 8 months ago planning to go back to school but when that got delayed I’m still just chilling enjoying retired life and I’m all good if I wasn’t I be going back to work, just like if it was a problem I’m sure Eskay wouldn’t be leaving, also I think it’s fairly obvious xxl is on a downward spiral right now, why not get the fuck out now, what people should be saying is congrats Eskay…..

In watching the finale a friend of mine started to complain that no one was dead yet, this made me pause the tivo to explain †The Wire †doesn’t kill people for the sake of violence or bloodshed but it kills because it’s tied into the story and our emotions and well people get killed in real life especially in the city of Baltimore. So when the first casualty happened I paused the tivo again to point out the purpose behind it and to ask are you happy now ? How much happier are you that a) the violence wasn’t forced, you actually felt rewarded with it and b) that you were genuinely happy to see the demise of said character and even more so to see who pulled the trigger and why ?

real fucking talk, niggas got unbelievably short attention spans these days. if guns aint blazing dudes aint trying to watch The Wire. When in fact McNulty and the police department, hell even Carcetti and his beefs, are sometimes more interesting than the street shit.

Conor… So evidently you’re a sales dude. More power to you because that’s a tough niche. But in the essence of things, in sales, either you got “it” or you don’t. One of my homies who graduated from Frostburg State (way out in Smack Neck, MD) is the regional manager for TMobile. He’s tryin’ to get outta phone sales. I think mainly because the company promised him a certain amount of $ and he aint seein’ it.
Liquor sales is a damn near definite. No matter what, people are gonna drink and now that major vodka companies are franchising (see: Diddy), it’s a better way to target untapped markets.

…. I agree to an extent and the person of course has to be open minded to a degree but like I said The Wire doesn’t kill for the sake of killing it ties into storylines that are necessary, also it can give some one who can’t possibly understand how these people turned out that way or how some one would ever get into selling drugs a different perspective and see that more often than not these people are trapped in the only world they know and they have to do what they need to, to survive, instead of looking at these people as just thugs and scum they can see a human side….

Hov and buddens could do a diss song together about p and all P would have to do is play 15 seconds of a havoc instemental
^LOL. I’m a P fan too but you swervin’ right now. Not only would Budden have his bunk mate questioning his legacy, but he’d do it over a Havoc or Alc beat. I could already picture 150 bars over Shook Ones. Easy.

I was doing some reading and came across the word Niggardly and died. I had heard the word somewhere but decided to look it up and found this definition. Tell me it isnt racist? Peace y’all
Niggardly:
1. Grudging and petty in giving or spending.
2. Meanly small; scanty or meager: left the waiter a niggardly tip

and I just don’t understand why people have to defend every word their retarded favorite rapper says, you can disagree with some one and still like their music and bump it hard

…. I didn’t lose any composure and I didn’t bring them into it with any ill will, I brought up your stanism with them that is all , if you can’t see the difference than you are further gone than I thought, again you decide if music is hot based on who they are signed to, not the actual music so trust, your views or opinions could never make me ” lose my composure ” …..

…. again how many times do I need to explain this to you ? I actually like old school canibus too, I only ” shit ” on him to watch you lose it, and too point out the hypocrisy in your thoughts, I didn’t diss canibus at all today, I just dissed his beat selection that has nothing to do with his skills as a rapper and guess what that goes along with everything else I said today, unlike you who chooses to defend lyricism when talking about Canibus but claim beat selection is more important than lyrics when discussing Prodigy or Master P, you have to choose a side and stick to it, you can’t chill on both sides of the fence, your like Lupe right now ninja is you a gangster or a nerd you can’t be both pick one
and for the record you can like a rapper because of their beat selection and another for lyrics but you can’t place both of their skills above someone who is crazy lyrical for 2 complete opposite reasons

o The Wire did it again, David Simon is a genius

As I read through all the statements of comparing this rapper to that rapper, I remove myself from inside the depth of the cerebral environment, and I wonder what it all means?
What bearing does it have if Budden is better than P?…..What does it benefit us if a certain rapper is better than the other?…Why has this banter been going on in the generation that I’m born of?….
Does music have this much effect where we have cyber sparring matches about which entertainer is better than this entertainer?…Is there room for liking both parties….
Are we aloud to listen to Young Joc, soulja boy, Masta Killa and Uncle Murder?…Does that make one sociallly stigmatized if they’re music has ranges within the rap world….
What is hip-hop? and what has it become?….Is hip-hop only a blip on urban black music, or can it last?…..Is it bad if hip-hop is dead?….Why are there such strong feelings and violent passions within a genre of hip-hop?
These are the truths that I’m searching for.
