Das ist nicht nur auf seine geschäftlichen Entscheidungen bezogen, sondern durchaus auch musikalisch zu sehen: Allein wie im Team hat er es nun mal nie geschafft, den Song zu schreiben, der eine größere Bandbreite von Hörern anspricht als die so oft zitierten “Niggas and bitches” - und das liegt nicht daran, dass er es nicht versucht hätte (Beweisstück B. Als eine Folge des gescheiterten G-Unit-Experiments suchte Prodigy sein Glück fortan wieder im Untergrund und belegt dies mit seinem neuen Album “H.N.I.C. Pt. 2″, das am achten April erscheinen wird. Die zweite Single hierzu heißt “The Life” und spiegelt exakt das Dilemma wider, in dem Albert Johnson sich mittlerweile befindet: Durch die beinahe krampfhafte Fixierung darauf, ausschließlich “Songs für die Straße” (sprich: Weiße Vorstadtjungs) schreiben zu wollen, klingt das alles nur noch redundant und überflüssig. Es gibt eben nur endlich viele Wege, wie man über Drogen, Waffen, Bitches und Geldsäcke rappen und dazu ein böses Gesicht ziehen kann - und das Mobb Deep-Mitglied hat sie nach über 15 Jahren im Spiel schon längst alle ausgeschöpft. “I’m only 33 and my mind is old”, sozusagen. Trotzdem sollte man die restlichen Tracks aus “H.N.I.C. Pt. 2″ abwarten, von denen übrigens jeder ein eigenes Video (!) bekommen soll. Wann muss dieser Typ gleich nochmal in den Knast?
