I didnt think “I Know” was single worthy either, but it got added to rotation of DC radio stations like two months ago. The people have spoken.

“Say Hello” was my favorite track when I first copped the CD, but it just didn’t have staying power in my player. “Party Life” is the best song on the album. It’s the sound (thematically at least) that he was going for on Kingdom Come but couldnt’ quite pull off. “No Hook” and “Sweet” get doper by the day.

I could definetly be wrong, but I’m pretty sure Lost Tapes (at least 90%) of it was the original version of “I Am”. The two joints on there that are also bonus tracks on Stillmatic are the only exceptions I think.

Nothing from his post Life after Death work (verses on No way Out, writing Hardocore) indicated a fall off was in the near future. In fact, just the opposite, he just kept getting better. If you think there was only 10 good songs on Life After Death are dope, I dont know what to tell you. “Another” had iffy beat, and “Nasty Boy” was filler, but other than that, fucking amazing from top to bottom. And yeah, Puff put Big in the right mind frame to reach deeper into his craft, but once that knowledge was passed on, BIG ran with it. He didnt even let Puff in the stu when he was making Life After Death…

If the only two albums you dropped happen to be two of the best hip hop albums ever, if 90% of hip hop listeners know all the words to your singles (at least the singles, if not album cuts), if you transformed hip hop stylitically and thematically in ways that are apparent 11 years later, and if you’re the guy that wrote “I Got a Story To Tell” I dont think you’d need to make to or three albums to prove your the greatest. There’s enough in your arsenal already.

And if two classic albums isnt enough, how many is? Sure Nas and Jay released more LP’s but do either have more than two classics? I’d say no. So they’re still even with BIG on classic material.

Like I said puff’s imprint was on Big’s Albums…Big could flow outta his ass and would have been a great MC anywhere else, But my main hypothesis was that I dont believe big would have fared as good longevity wise….
