    Hip-Hop started with the “party rap” phase. Some times that good time vibe is a needed distraction. I remember the height of “reality rap”, catz all tense, nobody smiling, you couldn’t dance cause you MIGHT drop your 40oz and/or .380, couldn’t get in no club ’cause Carhartt overalls and Hi-Tek boots wasn’t part of the dress code, you HAD to be slanging something or you wasn’t down, catz wasn’t gettin’ they hair cut, huggin’ the corner like it would disappear if they went and took a cot damn shower…

    Nah, JD writes….WELL. He wrote all of Brat’s and Kriss Cross and early Bow Wow. Plus, JD is a helluva producer. JD’s nice. he’s been engulfed in the culture for YEARS… When we talk about “Old Hip-Hop” money, we talkin’ JD. JD is the FIRST cat I heard refer to “wood grain grippin’ ” on “Money Ain’t A Thang”.
