@ cOLD — i live at work (as you can probably see from my almost 24/7 posting). until the economy crumbles, every client of mine is trying to close as many deals as possible. when the market crashes i am going to take a major sabbatical till shit gets right and my posting is going to fall the fuck off (lucky for yall LOL). in any case, during work all i do is listen to music. it is constantly playing as a backdrop to what i do. even on conference calls, i’ll mute the phone and turn up the volume on the music. so i can’t have one go-to CD, no matter how good it is. i’ll play it 5 times before lunch and then i’ll need some other shit. here at the office we share music like crazy. all of the hipster white kids here at the firm have put me on to shit i would never in life otherwise be exposed to (like bands with names such as !!!). in any case, that’s an explanation for why my rotation needs to be deep [||?] probably too long winded but that’s my steez

i thought it was nice. it was also something different. just like when public enemy did Bring the noise” with the group anthrax. he was suppose to lip sync. that happens on those type of shows. they have been lip syncing for years. soul train and also american bandstand had the performers lip sync. i say as long as no one does a “milli vanilli” and lip sync while in concert, we are okay.

So “Ty” has this get-over. He overheard the Jamaican dude talkin’ ’bout his man bringin’ 30lbs. of bud to Philly on the train. If these cats only knew Ty was behind the string of recent “losses” we’d be dead. So anyway, Trevor’s coming down. His train arrives at about 2:00pm. Ty goes and gets a fake badge but the shit looks real. Anyway, he’s like, “Party, we gonna get dude when he gets to 30th street. Just Just look around put your hand up to the ear piece.” I’m like here we go again… We get to 30th street station. Ty don’t give a fuck, he double parks outside the west entrance. It’s about 2:00 and we walk over the N.Y. arrivals stairwell. We spot Trevor. He casually walks over to baggage and we fall back, tailing him. He grabs his bags. As he walks towards the exit, Ty approaches him low key and flashes the badge. Trevor drops the bag and slowly trots towards the East exit. I pick up the suitcase and turn towards the West exit, walking briskly. We get safe and Ty cracks the bag. I ain’t never seen so much weed in my life. Ty gives me what has to be 4lbs. and instructs me to “work” it. I go up the way and get with my cousin, Break and his punk ass boy, Jeff. We break it down to quarters, doves and dimes. I make the mistake and put a whole bud in about 8 sheets of easy wider. I’m “stuck” now. Two days later on a Sunday Jim knocks on my door. I open it and he has the hammer low. He says, “get in the truck.” I comply. I get in the back of the panel truck and there’s a mattress and naked trick jawn. gem is releasing a double disc mixtape in anticipation of the album. he’s got a new name — GemStones — because another rapper already had gemini and was getting read to sue (same shit happened to common when he was Common Sense)). he also completely scaled back the gangsta persona. lu did the same shit — his early stuff was gun talk/car talk/ice talk but only when he disposed of all that shit did he become a monster. it’s not being fake. it’s growing up and developing your own voice. i hope people support his his album, Troubles of the World. i think he will do big shit in 08.

So, the story starts about 1987. Me and my mans is runnin’ serious real estate scams out in Southwest. You know, look for a listing in the neighborhood paper, have the owners leave the keys in a lock box and go check it out. See, you got to have somebody on the “inside†for this scam. We’d go see “Linny†to draw up the fake deeds and have ’em notarized. We’d link up with an unsuspecting “Jamaican Drug Lord†of the week. SMH at the corney catz. Gold teeth, Travel Fox shoes, LONG ass belts, gold rings and lion’s head medallions. But this was better than stickin’ ‘em. Naw, we guaranteed at least $15,000-$20,000 a pop with this shit. Anywho, we throw on the bummy clothes, and link up with “Pete†. He’s interested in acquiring another “gateâ€. It’s “Tyâ€â€™s turn to play Mr. Basehead. Ty tells Pete,“Yeah, Pete. My moms died and I really don’t need this house. I’m fucked up as it is and this shit ain’t nothin’ but another bill.†Pete says,â€What you wan for it?†See, Pete is greedy and on some ol’ “crackhead’ll take what I give him†shit. Ty says,†This is my moms spot. Lot of memories. I was looking for $30,000. It’s 4 bedrooms, nice roomy backyard.†Pete does that suck his teeth thing that Jamaicans do. Pete say,â€Boy ya crazy? $30,000? I got $15,000 seen? $15,000 and an onion.†Thinkin’ we baseheads, he assumed the onion would set us off and them he figured he’d cake off the $15,000 ’cause his dope was so good. The shit goes down.
About a week later, as Pete’s workers are re-enforcing the “gateâ€, there’s knock on the door. it’s Five-O. They ask what’s goin’ on. The true owner of the house is outside. Jake says,â€We’ve had reports of unusual activity at this address. Are you the owner?†KNOWING the answer to the question.
Pete produces the fake deed. The look on his face when the cops broke the news to him was priceless. And THAT’S why I don’t go over Southwest to this day….
