MTF, you do a lot of reading, I see you quoting, what you like reading mostly?
^^^
I’m more towards American Southern Classic Literature, Satire, Horror, Poetry, autobio’s, hip hop related, etc etc I kinda go where my mind is interested in at the time. Like right now I’m reading Blood Meridan by Cormac McCarthy (I just got done reading before that one his other book The Road, def incredible), but this book is mroe in the vain of a Western somewhat, alot of violence in it. And some perticular authors I like are of course Twain (anything and everything), Steinbeck, Dickens, Hunter S. Thompson, Cormac McCarthy, def Richard Matheson. I kinda skip around anywhere one week Im reading a collection of horror and somewhat sci-fi stories by Matheson then next week I’m reading about hip hop events and history by Jeff Chang, then a Western by Louis L’Amour, ya know everywhere.

Do you mean as a career, tryin’ to make records or give up the love?
’cause top-tier emcees have evolved with Hip-Hop. Years ago I doubt if anyone would wanna hear a 40 year old mc but Jigga will be forty soon and I’m sure some folks will be checkin’ for him. In contrast Melle Mel,Grand master Caz and Chuck D are pushin’ 50 and are deemed irelevant to the “mindless masses’. It depends on when you came along, your spit game and your profile. But if you got love for the element of emceein’, then take it to your grave. I’ma cut and scratch until the arthritis kcufs with the fader action and my crabs ain’t hittin’. (never) lol

>Do you mean as a career, tryin’ to make records or give up the love?
^I took it as when would it be the best time to leave, age doesn’t matter if you still love the game & making good music i.e “Jigga”, I said Master P because he was just making music just because & didn’t put effort behind it anymore raising the question, what’s the point? Best time to leave is when you don’t feel the same about hip hop as you did when you first started rapping

Police discovered the 32-year-old rapper dead from an accidental gunshot to the head Friday at 4 p.m., after responding to reports of a shooting at Fam Tide Records.
While investigators continue to interview friends and co-workers of Francis, who rapped under the name Arcani Crosswords, information collected thus far indicate he accidentally shot himself while playing with the gun, Sgt. Robert Blain of HPD’s homicide division said.
“He was just messing around is what we’re being told,” Blain said.
“We don’t know exactly what happened, but we understand he had the gun in his hand and somehow it just went off,” Francis’ 25-year-old brother Mark said.
Francis’ past includes several brushes with the law, resulting in jail time served for misdemeanor charges including possession of marijuana, driving on a suspended license and evading arrest. However, friends and family members say he had left those problems in the past, and only carried a gun for protection.
“When you come from a certain environment you need that,” Mark Francis said. “It’s just a fact of life.”
For Francis, who co-owned and operated the Fam Tide studios, rap served as an outlet.
“He rapped about just what life brings: the good, the bad and the ugly,” Mark Francis said.
As recording engineer at Fam Tide, Francis also worked to steer kids away from the streets and into the studio.
“He influenced them to concentrate on their artistic passions,” Francis added.
Also an amateur painter, Francis hoped to one day establish an art gallery to display work from incarcerated artists.

Rapper/producer Pharrell Williams and designer Camille Miceli will unveil a new fine jewelry collection named Blason being launched with Fashion house, Louis Vuitton. Williams first teamed with Louis Vuitton in 2004, when the producer/rapper and A Bathing Ape creator Nigo created the “Millionaire” line of sunglasses for the company. The Blason jewelry line, which features four separate themes, features yellow and white gold in diamonds. The pieces are being sold for between $2,000 to over $600,000. Williams and Miceli will debut the line to the public on January 21, followed by a private party at a Mansion in Paris. While details have yet-to-be announced, the Blason line of jewelry will be available in Louis Vuitton stores across the world this spring.

>>>>Too bad it doesn’t look like a SP3 will be out. Smh
^I know, it would’ve ruined there legacy IMO if they rushed a below average album out cause of how good the first 2 are, but I would give up anything to hear another SP album. They dropped a mixtape called “the gangs all here” OMG that album sucked so bad, I only listen to that joint once & threw it in the CD book, never to be listen to again.
@ Joe88… yeah, I’d rather not they release another album if they gotta rush it. And I didn’t even bother to check out those other joints because I knew it wasn’t official.
Young Chris has the talent to totally follow in jay footsteps (rap wise) & sourt of not be a total Jay knockoff i.e noe, etc. All he really need is a chance, his homecoming was the SP 2 album, he killed every song he was on, that set him & neefy up for the group album, which wasn’t bad, actually a good album, but the rocafella break up really took the momentum from chris that took him years to get, A jay-z assisted single (no half hearted “gutted” type song) some real club banger type shit, a good follow up single, maybe a T-pain/akon vibe, or T Marie, or any R&B artist that’s semi hot, a official street single & a release date that’s cemented & chris will easily do over 650.000 units, word

According to the Houston Chronicle,
Police discovered the 32-year-old rapper dead from an accidental gunshot to the head Friday at 4 p.m., after responding to reports of a shooting at Fam Tide Records.
Also an amateur painter, Francis hoped to one day establish an art gallery to display work from incarcerated artists.

from AHH:

Isn’t the recent Jay-Z rhyme biting becoming a bit much, heads are just making the songs over replacing every other word to make it relevant to their own experience. Not that I have a problem with remakes when it’s done correctly, I think Royce killed “let this bitch breatheâ€; and Rae did justice to “No Jokeâ€. But for “rappers†that have barely established their own style (i.e. Chris) I think the energy can be spent somewhere else besides a remake of another man’s record, shining on his style before he gets a chance to shine on his own shit ©.
Get your own shit come out your own way; be original. ©

What’s good Billz
January 7th, 2008 at 12:47 pm
