LF- But I was listening to Graduation yesterday….I wonder why Ye didn’t put any skits on that joint? He’s one of the few moe foes who actually has funny skits….Broke Phi Broke, the fake Bernie Mac, and Little Jimmy (none) were classics
^^^
Broke Phi Broke was great.. You see them at the ‘06 Grammys doing all that? That was awesome. I think Graduation needed skits around “Drunk’n’Hot Girlsâ€.. I think “Good Ass Job†will have skits, ‘Ye knows people missed ‘em.
Late Registration just seemed more musically cohesive to me. The only joint that I wasn’t feelin’ like that was the joint with Brandy. It sound like it was a owed favor, especially since he temporarily resurrected her career with that single she had that featured him on it.
no hate for kanye doing a song with john mayer?wow
is that hiphop?
is 50 and justin hiphop?
is there a major difference?

***the difference is, Kanye wears argyle sweaters, and Curtis wears bulletproof vests- therefore, Kanye can get away with different shit than Curtis can…plus, John Mayer is certified, after his appearance on Chappelle’s show, lol….anyway, that random comparison seems like hateration, at least to me it does….nobody was even talking about 50…

College Dropout was a perfect album, IMO…not a skipper in the bunch….
^True. Spaceships was personal to me at the time, especially Kanye’s verse. Almost had a ninja emotional n’ shit, like, “damn ‘Ye, you aint never lied… chuuch!” Lol

***Yezzur…”in the mall till 12, when my schedule had said 9″, “standing next to the no smoking sign with a blunt in the mall”, all that shit was on point, took me back to my days working at Wheaton Plaza…plus, dude’s sense of humor came through well, but it wasn’t all over the top corny…there’s a lot of similarities between the content and overall mood on that joint, Blue Collar, and Don’t Quit Your Day Job, IMO

How can College Droppout be a perfect hiphop album?!? What the hell is going on in here today? Yall stll hungover from New Years or something?
^ Range of subjects/topics, flawless beats, prime lyrics, and the most/least important *drum roll*… madd singles.
I’m still mad they never released the video for Spaceships.

One thing about Curtis stans, they pick ANY reason to bring his name up. I remember iCon (I think it was him) who brung up the different characteristics of stans of certain artists: Hova, Nas, Curtis, Budden, T.I… shit was hilarious.

^ One of the best things I heard in a long time. Not the song, although that was dope in its own right, but that line… fierce AND funny.
‘Fest and Cons’ got overshadowed mostly because their styles are so similar to ‘Ye’s. Plus they’re just two reglular dudes rappin’ while Ye had a story behind the first album and was on the frontline of the Roc. Basically the savior of that label.
one of the funniest MJ comments ever was on Bossip, when they were covering Mike being on the cover of Jet…their headline was some shit like “Jet Beauty of the Week”…classic, lol…nhjic
^ Fun Fact: Rick’s music was heard by Bleek while he was in MIA helpin’ to take of his brother after the motorcycle accident. He took Rick’s music to DJ and the rest is history.

anybody else think that “dynomite†on blue collar is good, but it could be way better, like on the beat tip, more beefed up…
***I liked it, a lot…Blue Collar was a dope album, except for “Fever” and “Put it on My Stick”…especially the latter song…fake ass Ying Yang Twins shit….
huh?!…dude is typing his comments like he’s talkin to Kanye directly or somethin…ha.

We were all rookies once though. He’ll get ethered two or three times for stepping out of the shadows to make comments like that, and as long as he doesn’t get his crib circled or post pictures of him and his man in the shower room, he’ll be a vet in just a few years time.

fever also was weird, the beat was just kinda messed up, or more like snorish, they could done that beat and that sample so much better.

“He’s always gonna be Gay-Z no matter what. We could do business or even if he wants a beat from Havoc, that nigg*’s still Gay-Z to me. We seen each other in Justin’s [right after the infamous 2001 Summer Jam, where the Jay/Mobb Deep/Nas beef took off]. I was with a whole bunch of my nigg*s. It was just him and like one or two security guards. Soon as he seen me, he just walked straight up to me with his hand out like, “Yo, it’s all love. It ain’t beef. It’s just rap.†I’m like, “Yeah, aright whatever.†He seen how I could of did him. We Mobb Deep. It’s not a game. It’s for real, son. It’s a whole gang of us. We not playing. We from the ‘hood. He thought we were gonna pounce on him. My n*gg*s wanted to jump on him. The Summer Jam thing didn’t really upset me. That’s just reality. When I was younger I thought I was Michael Jackson and my grandmother had a dance school. That’s nothing to be ashamed of. Everybody my age wanted a Michael Jackson jacket back then. But Jay-Z was lying talking about ballerina pictures.

Fuck outta here with all this Chuck D CEO bullshit. How many successful artists has he broken, made, been affiliated with? Does he have good knowledge of the digital landscape of modern music? When’s the last time hes even seen a recording deal.

i concur. Dude is great artist and whatnot but a business man, he does havce his own label and did start up rapstation.com, but sitll not enough business knowledge to hold the CEO position, plus the thing about money, DJ wants money…it’s cause Rick isnt there anymore, Rick brought the music.

^ good point. He already said if your contribution is of gangster content without a revolutionary undertone K.I.M. I agree I dont think DJ is for Chuck, he needs a different platform to wage the war. I know I might be losing you, but you’ll soon understand.

^I’m saying embark, you gotta prop the authors. This internet culture of bloggin is manifesting so fast, it should be well documented who set the standards.
It’s just funny how bloggers get aggy about literary justice and propping the authors etc. but when it comes to buying an album and showing love to the MCs we be like who gives a fuck.
Especially since the term hilarity ensued is old as hell. But at the end of the day you’re probably right. As the world turns blogs spread like germs.
Somebody tried to (c) the ellipsis as a Nah-ism (by that I mean the ‘…’ shit) some weeks back. The ellipsis has has been used in written English for years to suggest missing words or phrases (and is often used to suggest a pause or the passing of time).
Somebody tried to lay claim to that. Yeah right… and I invented fire.

^what does one have to do with the other? Plus in Hip Hop MC’s more times than not, prop the original cat.
ex: fifty told me go ‘head and switch ya style up- Kanye.
But you got to admit that Nahgers didnt reallly originate hilarity ensues or the ellipsis [(c) Soul Clappa] though. Thats all Im really saying. The other shit was just me ranting on some bullshit.

… of course none of us invented these words, but some of us are easily identified by certain quotes or catch-phrases … it becomes a small source of pride on some level, to see your own personal quips become internet or website catchphrases … (c) pagan ritual, etc …
Whattup MTF?…Has anybody bought Planet Terror or Death Proof on DVD? I wish they were packaged together and I could watch it like I did in the theatre…do you get all of those dope ass trailers?
… i was just kidding … i too, was dumbfounded when i saw the post where someone (plug or Foe?) accused soulclapper of jacking me for the (…) they’re commonly used by sports beat writers who put random, related notes at the end of their columns … ie, Peter Vescey (NYPost), Mike Lupica (DailyNews), Alan Hahn (Newsday) … that was my influence … … …

I have Earth Rot on vinyl…I wish I could get that without the vocals…it’s still crazy though
—————–
… i LOVE the vocals, once i realized what they were saying … it gives it that ethereal, otherworldy feel … dude must’ve been dropping the finest of acids … that LP is the ULTIMATE in Baroque Pop, or Psychedelic Jazz … Rotary Connection: “Hey You”, is another classic of that genre … 1965 - 1975 produced the finest of experimental musical genres … LSD is a helluva drug …
Alright LORD…I’m gonna go back and give that Earth Rot a listen when I get home. I love this Axelrod shit though, I just went and checked for him after I heard Madlib name drop dude in Jazz Cats. I’ve listened to Songs Of Experience and Heavy Axe at least a couple times a week for the last year no lie. I also bought this self-titled Axelrod album off of Itunes a little while back, it was released not too long ago…the first track has Ras Kass on it. Have you heard that? It’s crazy! I’m gonna check out Rotary Connection later, got any other suggestions?

I can’t believe I ended off the NYE pagan rituals lockin’ lips with a snowflake in Bee Kay. Liqs and weed is a helluva drug aphrodisiac.
^did you smash?
^Not even a math exchange, due to the fact I lost my phone in the cab.
… I just got Heavy Axe this weekend … dope … even Requeim:The Holocaust is mind-bending …
… another great jazz classic from that era = Ramsey Lewis: “The Piano Player”(1969) … that was the LP where the great Ramsey Lewis, showcased his drummer, Maurice White (future Earth Wind & Fire leader), and let him play all drums and assist with production … it almost sounds like the LP is a trailer for EarthWind&Fire’s ensuing takeover of black soul/jazz music …
I can’t believe I ended off the NYE pagan rituals lockin’ lips with a snowflake in Bee Kay

… in a related story, residents of Hell were seen drinking ice-cold Coca-Cola, and skiing on 12-Ft snowbanks …

^True. Spaceships was personal to me at the time, especially Kanye’s verse. Almost had a ninja emotional n’ shit, like, “damn ‘Ye, you aint never lied… chuuch!†Lol

Late Registration just seemed more musically cohesive to me. The only joint that I wasn’t feelin’ like that was the joint with Brandy. It sound like it was a owed favor, especially since he temporarily resurrected her career with that single she had that featured him on it.
^^^
I seriously bet that was the case….

is there a major difference?

From XXL:
But Jay-Z was lying talking about ballerina pictures.

i concur. Dude is great artist and whatnot but a business man, he does havce his own label and did start up rapstation.com, but sitll not enough business knowledge to hold the CEO position, plus the thing about money, DJ wants money…it’s cause Rick isnt there anymore, Rick brought the music.
