Not really. Look at The Beatles n all them other peeps from the 60s/70s dat were boy bands 2 white america. We had bands: Look at Morris Day and The Time, or Zapp Band.
If ur looking towards the 90’s I can see ur point, with bands like Jodeci n Next, Whitehead Brothers etc, but then dey had Backstreet Boys n NSync. Even in those days, bands like Jodeci made a a sound that was distinctive between R&B n popular music. Even girl bands like En Vogue, S.W.V. etc sounded WAY better than half da all black chick bands comin’ out 2day cause they had that R&B flavour.
Now, R&B n Pop sounds near enough the same, n it was ideas like B2K dat helped kill it.

You know, like predictions for the next 12 months in hip-hop….like who’s gonna get dropped, sales, future classics, the future for the blog game, etc, etc…

We already know the past, give the insight on what’s gonna be crackin for the next 12 months…

1. Before I Self-Destruct will be certified classic and have even the 50 haters, back wearin “Free Yayo” tees…and it will be the top-seller of the year again.. and after the album drops 50/G-Unit will leave Interscope and do there own thing without a major label backing… They’ll be a smaller version of Interscope/Def Jam, but instead of Jimmy Iovine running things, Yayo will be President…

2. Saigon will defintely be run some more…

3. Prodigy’s HHNIC 2 will be bonafide classic..even better than ROTM…and P will probably be paroled in late 08…shout-out Jew Unit

4. A whole bunch of NY rappers who have been waiting years for a release date, (Run Saigon, Maino, Papoose, Joell Ortiz, etc) will FINALLY get there relase date/and album put out and then they’ll flop (just like there label told em they would) and they go back in hiding, so we don’t have to hear them complaining ‘just give me a release date’.

5. Tony Yayo will be found NOT-guilty of those false charges brought forward by Sammy the Bull’s mentor Jimmy Henchmen and his family…
Yayo will walk outta the courtroom doin the Yayo dance and sayin “if you beef with 50, I got beef with ya”

6. They’ll probably be a radio-payloa scandal that comes out, but not do to much damage, just some fines, and then things will go back to normal…

either that, or alot of major labels will go under during 2008…

7. Lil Wayne will relased The Carter 3 and be a major dissapointment, sales will be just ok, not big….and Wayne will go back to featuring on everybody else’s songs, cause Wayne can’t make good singles on his own, (Remember 50 said, you can’t even remember Wayne’s singles off his last album)

8. Nas will drop his album, and it will be some good work, nice songs, but it will be overlooked by the public, and Def Jam will to be blame.

9. Jay-Z will re-sign with Def Jam and the result of that being, more good sales for the likes of Ne-Yo, & Rihana…with that being said, a whole bunch of long time Def Jam artists will leave the label, Beans, Free, LL, Ghost, Method, etc…

and i think what the problem was is that all the white people who dont know hip hop looked at hov like he would tell them who to back and who not to and they put all their egges in that basket like how they did with jeezy when hov was on his nut sack

First Fab was on Atlantic before this album… Second it was Jay-Z’s call to put Fab on the make me better song, which was a NE-YO song to begin with. Which turned out to be one of the biggest singles of the year. RIck Ross went gold in ‘06. Must I remind you what the market was like in ‘06. Only nigga plat in ‘06 was T.I. Gold for a debut artist is pretty amazing considering that.

Kanye is successful because of Kanye and thats undisputable, but you can’t say that the Big Brother song didn’t squeeze out a couple thousand more sales once he revealed the concept of it.

Luda dropped the wackest album of his life this time out. Somebody had to make that phone call to get him Album of the Year.

thats the difference with hov and dame….. Dame see and knows talent no matter if its a solid deal or not and just like he backed hov early in his career when hov was spitting fast and shit he took a chance… hov never did that with anyone who wasnt garunteed
