first time i listened to reasonable doubt did every single track start to finish clobber me over the head?

and i’m 27 years old, so i’m not talking from the perspective of some fucking kid who picked up the album in like 2000 or 2001 or maybe even 2005 and already heard so many positive reviews that they were unable to give the shit a fair listen
no, i copped the shit the day it came out (this was b4 albums leaked), ripped the packaging off the CD, put it in the player, and i remember liking like 4 songs
then within about 3 weeks i had memorized the entire album, even the skit that preceded “can i kick it” where the chick says “this is why our people don’t have anything” that hajji keeps quoting
that’s the same thing with the Cool
like the UNKLE track – right now, it’s not my favorite
but maybe i’ll unlock some of the significance down the road
that’s how a classic album works
anyway, we’ll see
very few albums are instant classics
but from listening to The Cool over and over, i can say that it’s a contender to be a classic, if it’s not already

^^^Tru dat, but these are different times. There is too much music…correction too much GOOD music, and too much easy access for people to take time to digest something that doesnt grab them right away.
Its like you give your favs a shot, but most people dont have time to listen to an album 3 times in order to grasp it, when there are other quality albums that grab them from the start and are still good later on.
For example, I had been bumping dilligence and dream merchant (late passes) for a while, and now ghost face and Lupe and MM3 have knocked those out of rotation just after 2 or so weeks.
Its a sad but true reality. Blame technology for easier ways of making quality music and easy access to music.
But like I said, Ill give the favs a couple of shots. Ramble, rant, rant, ramble.
