as far as the ron paul stuff, try and stay informed people. heres a bit of reading for those of you that might be supporting the guy.

aight so i was at the bassment last night on blackhawk and ashland here in the chi for the lupe in-store

shit was bananas

first we had to wait an hour to get in, the line was all the way up ashland

second they were selling copies of The Cool for 20 bones so that you could get a wristband to go in and meet lu

i was like here are my 5 copies i already bought

they were like “whoa” LOL aight then you don’t need a wristband

anyway we get in and the line inside the store is long too

he got his handlers and family members around not to mention all these hipster white kid lupe stans with skater company fitted hats and skinny jeans running around being organizers and shit

oh and some hardbody looking vatos with some baggy, old-school skater shit (gotta love the realness)

anyway, when we got in i chilled with bishop G for a minute and got a pic with him, he’s cool peoples, he ain’t super duper nice on the mic but every phenomenal MC like lu needs a wing-man and as a wing-man dude is cool and actually had some dope rhymes on The Cool so who knows he might break the weed carrier mold, he def has potential

when i got up there i gave my asalamalaikums and dapped him and told him such-and-such say high (common friends of ours) and that we supporting his new joint

he bugged out that we knew the same people and said really appreciated the love especially from the muslim bredren

all i can say is apart from kanyeezy who my wife and i met on michigan ave last year in the chi, lupe is one of the most down to earth artists you could ask to meet

dude just loves making music and loves his fans

he is a true scholar and gentleman

i wish the brother all the luck in album sales this week

^^I’d agree with your first point there, but I don’t think Ron Paul is the solution. The system is so fucked that for an outsider to have influence he needs to make a massive impression. Last cat to do that was Ross Perot and he was a fucking billionaire. Ron Paul can make a little cake, but nowhere what’s needed to compete. It shouldn’t be that way, but since it is I try to focus on the people who’d make the best of a bad situation, and for what I’ve seen Obama is the best shot. On a personal level I think Dennis Kucinich is probably one of the only honest dudes left (maybe Mike Gravel too), but as a political scientist I’d go with Obama.

^^I know the feeling, but I don’t even see much change up here, and we’re all pot-smoking, gay-marrying, free health-caring beaver fuckers. For things to change in America it would require a change in consciousness, not just the political landscape. The military-industrial complex combined with rampant consumerism and a flagging economy have really bent America over, then stuck it in and broke it off.

Realistically regardless of who is voted into power change isn’t going to even be noticeable for quite a long time. I’m sure the main issue any of these candidates will tackle when in power is the pointless invasion of Iraq. Most of the other issues will stay the same. It really don’t matter because the winner has already been chosen. It’s would be nice to have a black president but that isn’t going to change any issues in the black community.
