Joell Ortiz: “Iovine Don’t Want Me on Aftermath”
We have a video feature with Joell up at the plantation. He talks candidly about his situation at Aftermath and rumors that Jimmy Iovine wants him gone.
I personally feel that him severing ties with the evil empire as soon as possible would be the best thing he could possibly do right now. I was happy for him when I heard he signed there, but honestly, I never really saw it as a good fit. I always kind of assumed that they’d make it work, because after all, it is Dre we’re talking about.
But in this day and age, and with his dedicated fan base, I think he’d be much better off with a nice Koch or Babygrande deal.

I guess it all depends on if he could have adapted his style and flow to a more sell able aspect. The dude had skills, he had punchlines, but he could also string a story together when he needed too.
