yo in RZA’s defense, he is a visionary, and the clan has such a strong following that their fans would believe in anything they put out. I understand Rae not being able to stand behind somthing he doesnt believe in 100%. Sucks that the Clan cant vibe and the chemistry isnt right. But from what i can take from the comments is that Rae is bad mouthing(pause) Rza and the album???
Maybe Rae should work on his rhymes coz the stuff i’ve heard lately sound like he half asleep…
When i first heard the Wu were doing a new album i was like i hope Rza does the whole album, but after the last couple of Wu tracks it might not be a bad thing to have other producers on this shit…
Someone call premo and tell him hip hop needs him for this album..

People how would this idea fly. With technology anythings possible. Suppose there was a way for the consumer could select what beat they would like to hear with each song. Sorta like a custom album. You would purchase the vocals then apply the track you would like to hear out of a list of many. All this would take place online ofcouse. This way you’d get raw lyrics with your choice of producer. After your selection it would be digitally mixed and sent out to you.
(interllectual property applies here ofcouse)

^whats to know, if you like a track select it, thats as far as your work goes, everything else would be done behind the scenes
^ but its more than just that/ your coming at it as someone who is more than just a casual observer of music- you, and most of us, are active participants in the music we listen too, regardless of our part in the creative process- we digest oit, discuss think about it differently.
the only way i can see something like that not turning into and earfuck would be if there was a small group of artists and a small group of producers who had already created work that as interchangeable to different beats, etc.
but the thing is.. music is such an organist, creative process that its hard to just manipulate different elements and still get a quality product that both the artists and the producers would be proud of.

eh.. thats giving a lot of faith that the consumer knows music enough to figure out how to put things together. it sounds like you ould end up with some pretty crappy mumbo jumbo that neither the artist or producer would ever actually approve of if they had a say in it
^whats to know, if you like a track select it, thats as far as your work goes, everything else would be done behind the scenes
^I don’t know if you ever made music or been behind the scenes, but the creative process is more than just doing vocals and then doing the beat. The artist puts certain lyrics to a certain sound because it fits the melody, mood, topic, etc. Perfect example is the movie Fade To Black. Notice the brazen critque of music selection that Jay does while in the studio. He made Guru go through damn near 50 beats before he even chose the right one for “What More Can I Say?” It would have been impossible for him to lay those vocals down without knowin’ the feeling of the music. It’s damn near impossible. A beat aint just a beat that some random fucktard decided to do on an MPC (speaking from the scope of the great producers). A beat is an energy that gives an artist a certain feel for what he wants/has to say. It’s organic. Did you know how discombobulated it would sound for an artist to just sit there and spit about 10 to 12 songs acapella without a energy to match it? It’s not that simple, grasshopper.

^billz with all due respect all that means nothing. Its a consumer thing. aslong as the artist signs onto it, then thats all that matters. Its about what pleases the buyers ears. ofcourse the artist would rhyme over what ever beat he wants, but it would be up to the consumer to either keep it or select another viable instrumental. Stop making it seem like its rocket science, its really simple if you think about.

^Why would I be? I aint the one puttin’ out the garbage. Yesterday I already named my favorite new MC’s and they’re mostly from the East (minus Lupe, Stat Quo, & Rich Boy). But in terms of originality:
Slang – we already discussed this
Music – the hyphy drums (i.e. “Go Dumb”) are relentless
Style – they got Black teens and young adults (myself included) appreciating Vans (shoe that used to be primarily worn by skateboarders) to the point where MTV didn’t even wanna play WolfPack video because they weren’t gettin’ a check
Pioneers – E40, Too Short, and a few other vets passin’ the torch to the youngans, unlike the East
So what’chu sayin’?

I just had that in the whip last week. I’ve said it before, Marley Marl doesn’t get nearly enough credit for the production he did on that album. That album is fire. Certified classic!

I don’t like places like that. Everybody frontin’, pretending to “network” n’ shit. A regular, small lounge with some good hip hop and no dress code and I’m good. Of course, we don’t have those in B’more, but it’s a nice thought.

… Camron > SEAN PEEE …
^^^^put… the… crack… down…
…anybody not seeing that crap go down with the rza and the clan needs to wear my glasses. i take that back. you can take bol’s pepsi bottle, urkel ass fisher price my 1st timberlands [(c) 36] stomp to the face while wearing them ass… ok, no teeth marks on dudes shit with the (fill in blank) ass rhetoric (no tyson with game’s butterfly tattoo on the face)…
anyway, i had a feeling that, with where rza is musically, it definitely doesn’t fall into that area of shit (II) the rest of the wu wants to come with (mmm mmm). they want to hit cats hard (nope) with what they feel is that wu shit, especially after not being out as a collective for so long. i definitely feel him on that (II). but this does seem a bit out of the blue. i wonder who else (besides ghost) is going to come out about this (no ho… never mind)…
