Jay & Wayne Talk “Hello Brooklyn”
MTV spoke to Shawn and Dwayne about the Hello Brooklyn track on American Gangster.
"[Wayne's camp] sent the record and it was done," Jay elaborated. "So it wasn’t like a collaboration thing. It was done already. Gee [Roberson] and [Kyambo] ‘Hip Hop’ [Joshua], who came from Roc-A-Fella and went on to do great things — I’m very proud of them — manage Wayne. That whole thing came through them. It’s more of a great record than a lyrical slugfest…"
They also mention that Jay is adding some "last minute additions" to the album and Jay confirms that the Jadakiss/Def Jam deal is "90% done."

Yeah you are on point with that assessment. But Interscope has a different machine than Def Jam. The same people (Jews) might actually get paid but they do have a different system.

Think about it. Hov said Dre sent him like 40 beats out of nowhere. If you get 40 tracks from Dre do you think you would have picked the ones Jay did? ^^LOL Other than the intro, all the beats you named are among my least favourite, other than the garbage song with Usher. Not anywhere near his best albums, but like you said, one of the best of 06. I have higher expectations for American Gangster, especially since I think Roc Boys is one of the best songs I’ve heard all year

Also think about the tracks that Jay has passed on from producers like Just Blaze (Pump it Up, and that Joint on Fab album with Swizz on it) he can’t afford to do that again with a producer of that caliber with the stakes being as high as they were. It was his COMEBACK album. Additionally, look at what he was getting from everybody else, it wasn’t really like he had much choice.

I know I’m on the outside on this one but did anybody think Dig a Hole was garbage? I mean that beat was ass and then you got some nigga singin’ on the hook of your diss track. I could see if you was trying to do a Toss It Up style joint like Pac did. But you knew that joint wasn’t for radio and you got this corny nigga singing on your joint. I thought that was horrible.
I didn’t really like the troble beat but the sample was infectious (no yeast) and he did kill the track.

A New York Assemblyman has called on Universal Music Group to change the title of Nas’ upcoming album, Nigger, or lose $84 million in investments.
