Back in the day, I had friends in B-more and they would bring tapes around. Suprisingly, some of the music hitting there wasn’t hitting in Phily and vice versa.

AZ hasn’t flopped like Bleek. AZ has alot of good material.. he may not have that superclassic album, but alot of dope records. ^ I don’t mess with Bleeks catalogue, but I like all of AZ’s albums. I feel most of his albums are slept on. His last two AWOL and Format are dope imo. Its just that after his first solo album people stopped checking for him. And he’s always been on garbage labels that didn’t support him. Imagine if he was with DefJam from the start like Bleek was? Things would prolly be different.

I found out recently that my aunt opened the first night club in B’more back in the day, before ODell’s.

I admit that Bleek aint on AZ’s level, but to say he isn’t nice is blasphemy. He’s still the only weed carrier with a classic album (Coming of Age) under his belt. ^^AZ is nice..what Im trynna say is after iI heard him on Life I was expectin like another Nas..he is a dope rapper not trash like Memph Geek is..but i guess personally I put too much faith(expectations) into thinking AZ would one day be one of da greats….Even at the time the general concesus in NY wa s that AZ verse was hotter than Nas’s.

I think youâ€™re wrong about AZâ€™s beats. Production on 9Lives was fire, Aziatic a little too commercial for me, but had some heat. AWOL had great beats on it. Format took a dip in quality slightly, but still has bangers on it.

I see what your saying son AWOL is the Az album i listen to the most anyway. I just feel some of his albums dont really flow together well and i think it’s his beats holding him back because no one can doubt his mic skills. I have this arguement with my friend all the time.

G7: Yea AZ got some lyrics. He is one of the most underated MCs in the game. He is like Jada, just needs a dope album. My last album purchased by Sosa, was Pieces of Man like back in 96 or 97 I believe. His first album was close to classic.

The thing with AZ is you could tell his budgets weren’t big because of his song sequencing. Usually, your team (A&R’s, engineers, producers) knows the best way to sequence songs to make to album flow better.That’s one of the realities of having so many different producers on an album. That was a problem with Tupac’s first two albums. That’s why everybody is anticipating a Dre album because you know you won’t be able to skip any songs during the first listen. “Aziatic” was a hot jawn but there just wasn’t the “oommmp”.
