Man I love Lupe Fiasco. Hammer was way more popular but, to me anyway, ATCQ was revolutionary. They set a nice foundation for a lot of todays hip hop and are one of my favorite groups of all time. Lupe’s seeing it from the wrong way. MC Hammer was a bigger name but he wasn’t necessarily the “inspiration” that A Tribe Called Quest was. Hell, I even started a website about the type of music they made ( http://BoomBapHipHop.com ) and I guarantee you 90% of those artists were affected in SOME way by ATCQ. Can’t say I’m not looking forward to CRS though haha!

Lupeis my fave new artist and lemme tell you he fucked up, and he’s stubborn. Okay. Whatever. Everyone has said something stupid in their life. And no matter what he says, it shouldn’t affect people’s opinions on his music. Lupe’s album was the 2nd or 3rd best album of the year, no question. When someone is attacked from every angle they crumble and they try to defend themself, then when they realize they’re wrong they have to say something that makes them feel like they are right. So many other rappers say much more contraversial things. Lupe didn’t push units because people are stupid and decided to sleep on the good rappers and put the garbage ones on MTV2. And, Kanye’s lyrics do not demolish Lupe’s. Speaking of Kanye and Lupe, any news about CRS?

Dude is a son of tribe and he doesnt know it. respect the architects, its simple. he doesnt have to like tribe, but respect the legacy they left. and he says he prefers 8 ball and bro, cool, but if you haven’t listened to tribes best album, that’s an unqualified judgement. he’s caught a dose of the “kanye’s” but ye’s knows what’s what with hip-hop history and you best believe he respects quest, he knows his shit, apparently unlike fiasco. silly boy.

Lupe has a right to say or feel how he wants. Maybe his choice of words and when he released the statements were poor decisions but its just an opinion. I mean Lil’ Wayne calls himself the Greatest Rapper Alive and not many even blink an eye…

I am trying to understand what all this “tribe is the best”/ “tribe sucks” has to do with anything.

Lupe is supposed to be a professional. Learn the lyrics. If you fuck up, fine. Accept it, say “my bad” and keep it moving. This would be a non story. It is not as though he is the first to fuck up a lyric.

I love tribe, but I could care less whether lupe fiasco chooses to listen to them. That is that man’s choice. But what does that have to do with the job he agreed to do at the show? By giving all these excuses, he is acting like a child.

Brother needs to grow up, take responsibility, and stop telling people how much he cant stand tribe. That is irrelevant to his error.
