Bambaataa & Beasties Nominated for Rock Hall
In their infinite benevolence, the gods of Rock and Roll have deemed Afrika Bambaataa and The Beastie Boys worthy of induction into their sacred Hall of Fame.
My question to you is, do we still give a shit about this sort of thing?
I kinda feel like, now that we got Flash in, after he was repeatedly overlooked, we should all tell them to go kill themselves. Only because, why was he worthy of induction in 2007 but not in 2006, when in reality he should’ve been in years ago?
Yeah, I know about that rule where you have to be 25 years deep into your career or whatever, but I feel like that shouldn’t even apply to hip-hop artists. Because if I’m not mistaken, it has to be 25 years after you released your first official single or LP, and as we all know there was plenty of rap music being made before labels woke up and started handing out record deals. Bambaataa is a perfect example of that.
But whatever, maybe I’m just in an ornery mood today. Best of luck to Bam, Mike D, MCA and Ad. If you guys get in, I’ll make another post gloating about it.
