Video: LL Hints at Jay-Z Dis Record
Can somebody explain to me how LL’s beef with Jay is any different then J Hood’s beef with the LOX? Your last album didn’t sell and now that’s Jay’s fault?

September 24th, 2007 at 10:59 am
LL should stop though. He’s not competition for Jay…not this day and age.
I wanna see how this plays out

co-sign and Jay’s money and power is way to strong for LL, LL is not even on the list of influential rappers, dude is a bamma.
All he’s been destroying is barbells, he hasn’t battled a rapper in ages.

L’s mad because when he was on top (circa 1991-94) and known as a “battle mc”, Clark Kent, Dame Dash and Hov would be relentless in tracking Mr. Smith down at various night clubs, show venues and studios for the sole purpose of having Jay and L battle. On several occasions, they in fact did meet and battle, each time resulting in Jay ripping L a new one [||]. The very last battle (in which I was fortunate enough to witness), after L took another beating, he left the scene saying, “Yo kid you’re hot, but I’m the only one standing here with a record deal, so tough cookies. In fact, make sure to check the heat that I’m bringing out on my next album (“14 Shots To The Dome”) when it drops.” Now that he has to answer to that very same “kid”, AND selling brick numbers, the “G.O.A.T.’s” ego must be taking a severe ass whipping. What I’m confused about is how L is claiming these new cats and “paper” rappers must not know about his pedigree and how he’s gonna bring it? How the eff in Sam’s hill is dude gonna bring it to Jay 13 years later after his prime when he couldn’t dent dude when he was on top? He’s right, it’s gonna be a funny winter. Whaddup Eskay?
September 24th, 2007 at 11:16 am
ll needs to step out of the delorian. its not the early ninety’s. nobody’s bumpin “i need love” in their cassette decks anymore. who gives a fuck if you call yourself the GOAT. no one believes you. you need more proof.
September 24th, 2007 at 11:33 am
He’s mad because he built Def Jam and supposedly wasn’t given the proper promotion. It’s a semi-legitimate beef. Then again his last album sucked and the first single… actually I think it got some play, it was the one with J Lo right?
September 24th, 2007 at 11:40 am
Jay should just sign Canibus, hand him a Just Blaze burner, and let son finish the battle he won 10 years ago (f**k record sales).
September 24th, 2007 at 11:41 am
ps: what verse is LL babling about at the end? did Jay just send a subliminal to LL?

Well J-Hood is really a nobody, LL Cool J has been with def jam for more than twenty years with 11 platinum albums. LL’s last album only had 1 video, freaking Fabolous’ From Nothing to Something is on it’s 4th. Jay-Z is president of marketing and promotions. How is that not a legitimate beef?

September 24th, 2007 at 12:08 pm
I did like some of Jay-Z’s music but I always been skeptical about how he make moves. LL has some cool songs over the years but most of his catalogue I don’t care for, he made them for the ladies. However, I want to see these two niggas go at it. I hope it get dirty too.
September 24th, 2007 at 12:16 pm
the greatest of all time does not churn out abysmal records. LL is a fucking joke now. he could probably still battle right tho. LL is the goat just as much as dominique wilkins is the goat. yeah not so much.
September 24th, 2007 at 12:22 pm
“Can somebody explain to me how LL’s beef with Jay is any different then J Hood’s beef with the LOX? Your last album didn’t sell and now that’s Jay’s fault? ”
___
definitely. i KNEW once that “Mr. Smith” LP did double wood that he’d beef with Jay… the Roots did the same thing. LL just mad, but if you actually make yourself sit through that bullshit disc, you will know why no one bought it – it was fucking bullshit, big lips.
September 24th, 2007 at 12:23 pm
the ‘I don’t give a f**k boo’ line the interviewer uses is a reference to an old LL line where he says he’ll crush a female emcee too.
Am I the only one that thinks LL won very few of his battles? He smashed on Ice T on ‘Till The Break of Dawn’, but I think Moe Dee murdered L on ‘Let’s Go’ and L’s comeback wasn’t strong enough. Canibus slaughtered him and I still think L’s reply wasn’t up to par with the fire he got hit with.
I’m still trying to figure out how this whole LL versus Jay thing started, because Canibus referred to it on 2nd Round Knockout…that’s 10+ years of these dudes’ allegedly having problems. What’s the source of it?
September 24th, 2007 at 12:24 pm
ps: How can you battle your CEO? Jay is just gonna shelf him…ultimate ether…
September 24th, 2007 at 1:02 pm
On the Forbes 123 remix of “I Get Money”, Hov spits at the end: ‘I’m already the G.O.A.T. / Next stop is the Billy.’ Apparently LL’s feelings got hurt and he’s throwing pity party instead of hitting the studio and making some real hip hop music.
The reason LL gets no promotion is b/c his albums sucks and there are no hits, why would you put out videos for a wack CD when you can spend good money on artists that actually make money. You know Kanye pays for some of his own videos, why didn’t LL do that to promote his? BTW, just b/c you can sell 11 platinum albums to a bunch of girls, doesn’t mean you can hold your own in a battle with Jay.

September 24th, 2007 at 3:12 pm
Who has Jay murdered? You clearly haven’t been paying attention.
A lot of Jay’s murders have been subliminal…
He bodied Philly’s Most Wanted on ‘Do It Again’. Where are they now? Exactly.
He bodied Mase. I forget the song, but one of the lines was ‘You’ll always be # 2′ (Mase rocked a jersey with # 2 on it as he tapdanced beside Puff, whose jersey had # 1 on it, I believe…LOL).
He massacred P and dude never recovered. It wasn’t just the Summerjam screen, the LYRICS to ‘Takeover’ surgically dismantled P.
Jay’s last fatal dis was ‘Dig A Hole’. Cam dutifully followed the suggestion (kudos to 50 on the helpout).
Y’all think Jay couldn’t murk LL? L only gets to sign to G-Unit if he puts out his last album with Def Jam. All Jay has to do is shelve him and his career’s over. LOL.

are you stupid? You didn’t listen to the damn lyrics at all did you. “I’m Ballin’ for real, you pump faking it” and you forget he deaded Cam on ‘dig a hole’, where the hell is Cam and Jim hasn’t had a hit since “we fly high” and he probably won’t have another ever again.
“I guess Men Lie, Women Lie…

eskay you defend Jay-Z with your life.. to the point where it’s just lame.
LL Cool J’s case is NOT the same deal as J-Hood.
LL Cool J deserves respect, he’s a legend. He literally started Def Jam. You’re blogging like a newbie rap fan with such stupid comments… marketing dollars should be thrown for L.

Heres the difference.. Jay Hood is a nobody, LL is a icon, a legend, a pioneer, a trendsetter.. As much as I am not a fan of his musik any longer, his history is undeniable. Jay owes a percentage of his success to LL and the other pioneers who set the table for him. True story.

Don’t Believe The Hype – phrase made popular by Public Enemy (for you people that same to confuse record sales with skills. Jay is tight, but LL would rip Jay Z in a battle. KRS would rip Jay Z in a battle. Nas ripped Jay in a battle. I like Jay, but he is a commercial Lyricist. LL, KRS, Nas and others are those backpack lyricists that grew up in the culture; they eat, sleep and shit Hip-Hop. Jay was a hype man who got popular by copying BIG. Def Jam Record has never treated their legends with respect. It was LL’s success that made Def Jam. Shit, they even dropped Public Enemy back in the 90′s after 4 consecutive classics.
As for Jae-Hood, he looks real silly right now because he ran around shouting D-Block since like 99 and has nothing to show for it. It’s your fault homie.
September 25th, 2007 at 12:24 pm
LL would murk Jay-Z just like Nas did. Jay-Z needs to get his ass out of the tub, he is washed up. LL is a legend, Jay-Z is the president of the copy he pretty built with thelp of Run DMC and Beastie Boys. He needs to stay in his lane.
January 17th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
What nobody seems to understand here is that hip hop eats its own. How is it that rock and roll companies treat their older artists like gods and hip hop companies shit on their founders. Companies like Def Jam only want to put money behind the current or next hottest thing. I believe that LL is trying to make a point. There is no real future for hip hop artists. Most have two to three hot albums and that’s it. What is happening to LL and Method Man will happen to most of the hot artists who are currently on Def Jam. I don’t think its that they are putting out garbage albums, its just that Def Jam is only willing to put money behind the hot new kid on the block until his albums don’t go platinum. Guys like Big Daddy Kane, Kool G. Rap, Rakim and LL, should be able to make money in their later years like the Rolling Stones or Metalica. They deserve the proper backing and record promotion from record companies. LL should be mad because how are you calling yourself president of a company and promoting your own album. How can you possibly run a company and tour and fulfill your duties as president at the same time, unless that was part of the deal when you took the job. The truth is that Jay Z is only doing what Def Jam is telling him to do but he does have a duty to speak up for the companies employees. He is part of the problem. He is only looking out for himself. Its like a person who works for a company all his life being given a cheap ass timex when they retire even though ge helped to build the company into what it is today. Ten years from now this new generation will be called old school and wondering where their favorite rapper went but he will probably be touring off of his old material to survive instead of making new albums like LL continues to do. And by the way, everyone knows that most of these platinum albums are garbage anyhow but they still get promotion. LL should leave Def Jam and go independent. Hip Hop lost its soul a long time ago.
