^Funny you mention that… for a moment you could guage the popularity someone had based on the listens on the Hip hop game audio section… there was a time when a new budden freestyle or song was posted… the shit would get triple the hits of an average post… I checked it last week… one of the audio files with the most listens was the phone call between 50 n cam… follwed by a few lil weezy freestyles.. It’s certainly a barometer for an artists popularity. Nowadays I hit up unsigned artists shows and instead of them tryin to push a mixtape or demo… they pushin their myspace url. Which is cool, but it takes away a little from the experience.
I was talkin to my boy and the main reason, I don’t give a shit wha anyone says, lil wayne is hot… is because he simply flooded the market. Whether it was good or bad, he dropped verses everywhere. It was basically the reverse of “out of sight, out of mind” Lil wayne is so fuckin overrated its disgusting, but because of his high visibility… mofo’s actually put him in that category… where as budden used to be on the forefront of internet buzz… his absence of new material means the now fickle crowd has forgotten about him.
The internet changed the game in the obvious ways we can all see, but also in subtle ways… they make the frequency one needs to release new material in increase… and as wayne proves.. its about quantity, not quality.
So The Crooked I’s of the world that drop them hip hop weekly’s are gettin more burn in a sense than those who put out mixtapes even if they are monthly. So it’s taking over in a lot of ways… but the feel isn;t the same

I thought about it to death… and I can’t even say clearly. if you think about 2 years ago, the change from them to now was ridiculous. At this point technological advances dictate the market.. When MP3’s popped and napster came about, there was a firestorm of protest, yet the RIAA had one thing in their favor. High speed internet wasn’t wide spread and Napster had a component in their operations that made it possible for the govt to shut em down.. but then came the time warner, comcast, cablevision, 3 for 1 packages.. internet phone and cable… and limewire, ares lite, e donkey and all those other download engines that worked on a peer to peer interface.. the game changed.
There is a new technology.. google invested 100 mil into it.. pocket change to google i know, but it could shift the entire industry once it goes widespread… the technology being developed would enable anyone with a power outlet, to have high speed internet access over that infrastructure. basically Everyone will have high speed. the playing field will be equalized.. also it will integrate different mediums seemlessly. some will become archaic and some will flourish.. I’m still working on an accurate summation of what all these clues mean, but change gon come. This kanye 50 battle was a shot in the arm for the old business model the RIAA follows… but urban leads the way not only in music trends, but business.. and soon the rest of the genres sales will suffer like hip hop has..
This is a crazy long discussion to have, but thas a lil glimpse into wha I think the factors might be.. its changin everyday.

it would make sense if that means selling an album song by song, instead of the whole cd…
but if everybody just picks and chooses 1 song, how would the artist or label make money?
remember thats why the labels killed singles in the first place…when music started gettin wack, everybody would just run out and buy the single for 99 cents, and the album would sit on the shelves…
the labels said fuck that…
September 13th, 2007 at 3:33 am
peace to engrep and bkscribe….
the labels said fuck that…
^^^ yep… I guess if we knew what the future of the indusrty would be like in a couple of years, then we’d be getting paid millions…
I don’t know myself…other than the fact there is substantial money involved…
September 13th, 2007 at 3:42 am

I’m going to bed but I had to comment on the Rocky talk. Rocky 4 is better than 3 because it’s Rocky vs. Communism. Clubber Lang is dope, but in the 4th movie Rocky fights an entire ideology, system of government, and the entire USSR. Plus, James Brown. G’head and try to argue against that.

50 Cent says Nas’ Career is Dead, Music Too Intelligent
While the longstanding feud between 50 Cent and Nas has been dormant for the past year, Fif takes some unexpected shots at God’s Son in an interview with the LA Times. “Hip-Hop ain’t dead. That’s just coming from an artist that’s dead.†Fifty said in response to Nas’ hip-hop is dead mantra. “Hip-Hop being what it was in his era - the 2Pac/Nas/Biggie/Jay-Z era - is dead. Right now [fans] don’t want to hear that nonsense.†50 then went on to say, “Those guys that flood their music with too much intellectual information don’t sell. You could be so creative that you just got a smock and a French accent!â€

What’s next is, God Willing, a 6 month vacation and then a county job. I’ve got family working for the county so that’s a nice little “in”.

I agree, but they we’re at least gettin they’re doe before Cam started purchasing new beef for the whole crew (Jay, 50, Tru). I think Jimmy just got tired of it. We know he can’t rap, so when he can get a song on the radio all day everyday then somebody in his crew starts causing problems, I could see him getting pissed.
I think Cam’s a little green at Jimmy for that one. Should be, their lyrical content is about equal right now. I fucks wit Jimmy though (nhjic), dude is funny

Apparently, I am one of the few that do remember. On September 11th, 2007, 50 cent and Kanye West had everyone’s eyes and ears. I was disappointed that neither artist, especially 50 cent who represents New York, failed to speak about the tragedy. September 11th, 2007 was solely about album sales, money and egos. Not one moment of silence from 106 & Park (filmed in New York) who spent hours hosting both artists. As the two artists appeared on every major television and radio show throughout the day, there was no mention of the lives we lost on September 11th, 2001. Although this is primarily a hip-hop website, I do not see how we can ignore the biggest tragedy in hip-hop’s birth place. Today, hip-hop is critized by almost everyone including politicians and journalists. I see a missed oportunity by two of the biggest hip-hop icons today, to show people that hip-hop is more than money, record sales, and violence.

i thought that was pretty funny
^^^^
that was actually me cause it wasnt the positioning of who was better that you had…it was who you paired Pac and Biggie with…
like it was Pac > Biggie > game > 50 or some crap right…
now 2 dont fit in that list… shit pop a dman Jay, Nas, Rakim, BDK in that list mayne u know…
oh plus
for real Biggie and Pac thing could be argued all day… I like both but I put others in front of them…why?…cause they have more material…more years in the game, have stayed relevant for longer… so in that case I would say Pac > Big, but as like a real MC like flow and delivery, Big all day.

So I spoke to my friend who happens to be friends with NRG.. During the conversation she says “What are you trying to do to me?†(in a good playful way–longo tello–none), so I say “Mostly trying to lure you into sending me pics of Nice Rack Girlâ€..
and she sends me this (Hand before God I’m not making this up)
“I am going out with all the girls Saturday night and she should be there. I will get pics for you.â€
~~~>Sooo, as soon as she sends me said pics, I will gladly show them to you guys.
Uncle Luke Calls Kanye West a “Womanâ€
Uncle Luke, the one-time member of the 2 Live Crew, called Kanye West a “woman†during an interview on the Dan Le Batard Show on South Florida’s radio show, Sports Talk 790 am The Ticket. Le Batard asked Luke about the YouTube footage of Kanye throwing a temper tantrum behind the scenes at the MTV Music Awards because he didn’t win an award or open as the show’s first performer. “Defend my boy? How you figure that?†Luke said. “Nah, man. That’s a lady. That’s acting like a lady. He’s a woman, man. Only girls do that. The girls get back there and go to screaming like that, ‘I’m never coming back to MTV anymore because they put Brittany [Spears] out there.’ He knew what he was going to go as.â€
Luther Campbell continued to say, “See, MTV and all those award shows, they’ll tell you where you going to be performing at. They’ll automatically let you know, your publicist know, then they say, ‘Look, you’re going to be performing in the back room. You’re going to be performing outside with all the other garbage acts.’ So you make the decision whether or not you wanna go then. You don’t wait until you get to the award show and then see fat Brittany [Spears] out there doing her thing, garbaging up the stage, and then get mad that you should be out there headlining the show.â€
I know.. and it sure as shit hasn’t stopped me in the past.. I just honestly don’t have a chance with this chick. She’s out of my league–and that’s more of a commentary on her and her people than it is on my self esteem..
I fancy myself [||] on being able to maneuver into any group, any conversation where people aren’t being assholes, but I’m way too dorky sarcastic emo.. from what I gather, her people are more bar hoppy “been there done that” chicks, in the “we have a ton of guy friends cuz we’re friendly, not cuz any of them have legit chances with us” vein..
50 Cent had some words for Nas in a recent interview with the LA Times. The feud, which goes back as far as a concert during which Nas called 50 out, continued this week with 50’s latests barbs at God’s Son.
“Hip-Hop ain’t dead. That’s just coming from an artist that’s dead,†said 50, referring to Nas’ album and concept for Hip Hop Is Dead. “Hip-Hop being what it was in his era - the 2Pac/Nas/Biggie/Jay-Z era - is dead. Right now [fans] don’t want to hear that nonsense.â€
Interestingly enough, these comments came right as 50’s album Curtis hit stores. “Those guys that flood their music with too much intellectual information don’t sell. You could be so creative that you just got a smock and a French accent!â€
This criticism is in the same vein as a previous one, in which 50 said “Nas is a really smart guy. He reads books constantly. We were around him on the Nastradamus tour. He was almost weirder than me ’cause we would go to breakfast and he’d be there reading a book. Conceptually, I think that’s what made him drift away from what his initial audience enjoys from him and why he’s not hot right now.”
^^ I guess that is what I was trying to say back then, when I said, it is not dead, but it is just not the same. Diffrent era. Artists who today who are still doing what they do in that era take offense when they say HIP HOP IS DEAD, but then again, they shouldnt take offense to it if they dont think they participating in crap music. I guess it is all preference. To me, I am more of that era back then so sometimes I say hip hop is dead, but it really aint..its just diffrent now. Some say for the better and most say for the worst. Its still alive because it lives in the South
i never said its his new target. I think MTF said that. I know Nas and Fif been on and off for a while. And you’re right. 50 always saying Nas’ career is finished or whatever. But why would you talk about somebody who’s career is finished to get pub? If Nas’ career was really dead Fif would never bring him up. I understand what 50’s saying though. At a point in a rapper’s career I think they have to decide what’s more important to them, to “keep it real” to who they are and what they really believe in musically, or to adapt to what’s selling in order to sell more records. Point blank
September 13th, 2007 at 12:23 pm
My teacher just told us a real industry horror story about how J.Lo’s first song “if you had my love” was made..
She sang that sentence OVER and OVER..and over, and they recorded each take..up to about 100 takes for each sentence.
then he had to make a spreadsheet, and they went through each individual take and they would check off which part of the sentence they wanted to keep.
So for example in take 15 they would keep “if” and love”. then in take 56, they’d keep “had” and “you”.
regardless of money, ignorance is not cool. there’s nothing wrong with getting money.. but there’s also nothing wrong with reading. In fact, reading more could help people get money…
i don’t like the idea of 50 influencing the children to think that the rap life/drug life is the only way… and that the quest for knowledge is something that should be looked down upon. 99% of the ghetto youth aren’t gonna get the breaks that 50 did that allowed him to use his shrewd business savvy to make the millions he has. (most won’t even have his biz mind…)
AND.. on top of that, i’m about the community.. so one man making money won’t solve the problems unless they have the uplift mindset. It’s just silly cause regardless of how much money Nas has, he’s still a millionaire. And thats something to look up to.
Yeah, he has a foundation that I hear is doing decent things. It’s just that saying someone “reads too much” is clownish to me. So what he doesn’t have as many fans as he once had. the dude is a legend, and if all he wanted was to be in the limelight he could. he CHOOSES not to.. thats the difference between someone like Nas/Kweli and Fiddy. All Fif has is the commercial appeal so he has no choice but to make money selling to the masses. He won’t be able to get that legendary emcee status…
and before anyone says “so what, he has money?”.. i’m sure if you ask 50 he would want it ALL.. just that he has to sacrifice one for the other/doesn’t really have the necessary talents to get it all.
Pete Wentz = Gully (from MSN)
Your boyfriend defending your honor? Kinda romantic. Your boyfriend and your dad defending your honor? Less so. The New York Daily News says Ashlee Simpson was at the center of a fisticuffs-filled tussle involving beau Pete Wentz and always-hovering father Joe at a post-VMA shindig at Las Vegas hot spot Jet. Seems security refused to let the trio and their pals exit en masse to a nearby SUV, prompting the Fall Out Boy bassist to get vocal. “What are you doing?” he supposedly screamed at a bodyguard. “This is my [bleeping] car! I paid for this [bleeping] car!” Tempers rose faster than the clumps on Wentz’s eyeliner, culminating in a guard shoving him and indirectly pushing Ashlee against a wall, says the paper. Pete “rushed to her aid,” and then rushed at the minders, fists apparently a-flying, with Joe wading into the scuffle. “When somebody messes with my baby, then it’s over!” Joe later huffed to the News, as he drew his finger across his throat (guess the former Baptist preacher doesn’t hold to that whole “turn the other cheek” credo). Thankfully, no one was injured and the group soon departed, with Wentz loudly grumbling, “[Bleep] this place!”
Anyway, to you and others who consider me a newbie, I’ve taken the time to compile my Nah Right Resume:
Name: Pmass
Nah Right Status: Role Player
Credits: (posted below)
I was an extra in “Nah Right- The Movie†close to two years ago…..If you’ve seen the movie, they show me right before they roll the closing credits. I was the one they showed sitting at his desk at work laughing at the comments….
In the sequel: “Naht Againâ€, I played one my first typing roles- the appreciative “long-time viewer/first –time commenter†who casts his vote for the up-and-coming blog that is Nah for hip-hop blog of the year……
In the ill-fated threequel: “NRID- The Eskaypeâ€, I played a supporting role as one of the few remaining survivors left when after Eskay wins above stated award and is offered a lucrative position in The XXLelence Corporation., and shuns the community he so pain-stakingly built, leaving its inhabitants seeking shelter elsewhere and me as one of a group of squatters trying to keep Nahville alive until the “Chosen Ones†(vets) return …
I was also in “Servers Serving†(straight to DVD), a spin-off of the “Nah Right Trilogyâ€, in which the “Chosen Ones†(vets) return, only to face battle with a renegade server who eats peoples comments.
