Shoot Em Up is a modern day western simply in a lyrical format, instead of visuals. But its full power comes in its vivid imagery, which Nas is renowned for. This ‘fictional’ tale is no worse than the John Wayne films of the 20th century. It’s a story of revenge and betrayal. If this song is fictional why is it a problem? Nas is creating a story just like Martin Scorsese did with Taxi Driver. Does that make Scorsese as evil as Nas? Because they both dabble in similar themes (murder, revenge, betrayal).

It’s probable that O’Reilly has not even listened to the song in its entirety. Just relying off the snippets that his staff hands to him. Just because this narrative isn’t his cup of tea, does not give him the fact to go on ‘fuck rap’ campaign. Come to think of it, I have never heard Bill say ANYTHING positive about Rap.
