For Classes:
- Study, like thats the most important part and in alot of class is reading the books and whatnot, its not hard just find the time and you’ll do well.
- Get papers done early cause they’ll usually come out better and you can get them done and over with and thats always a good feeling.
- Go to class, i can’t believe some of these idoits that don’t go to class and expect to pass, for like 90% of classes if you go to class you can pretty much lock up a C or better if you go and get your papers in.
- Make friends with people in classes, don’t blantantly cheat with them but like sharing notes and working on papers together and studying for tests. Also you can get with girls like that too, especially the not so bright ones, you can get your tutor on and trust me alot those type girls are the ones that put out…
Dorms:
- Being that chill dude thats down for whatever, like roll with the punches (which is kinda naturally me) is real good, leads to good times. Like don’t be to extroverted cause its like a confined space in the dorms and those dudes get mad annoying. Also don’t be that guy that sits on the computer every moment he isn’t in class, like play video games and that type deal is cool but like do with the people on the floor. (like on my floor we played halo 2 with over the LAN and would be like 2-3 rooms with like 12 people playing and that was good fun)
- Condoms, especially early on cause those girls, especially those catholic white girl from the burbs type are easy early on. First week of school i got with most number of girls for about any month of in just that week.
- Get a fake or become friends with someone with one and find that spot that will sell to you regularly. Cause for instance at Loyola Chicago we found this spot that evenually knew my friend on a first name basis with the name on his fake and would give us like a case for free cause we’d buy like 4-5 cases of beer or when fourty hands games came along would throw in like a handle of vodka for free…

save yourself a good $100-$200 and cop used books if you can, also ask around and see if the teacher actually uses the books (cuz some teachers have you spending like 200 and the book once the whole semester
dont fall in love wit the first chick you meet (if you a dude) you’re gonna be meeting new chicks everyday, especially your first year so dont lock yourself down immediately.
Depending on your dorm size, bring a good sized tv. You can’t invite no shorties over to watch a movie on a lil 13inch that ya moms gonna tell you to bring. Make friends with a couple seniors or people over 21, so you can get easy access to the L. Bring condoms and have a condom bowl (put a couple magnums in there to show your true size) in your room. Even if you not hittin’ anything you still look like you baggin chicks. Make sure you bring videogames, because sometimes there is just not nothing to do. Bring a footlocker or a chest so you can throw random in there that you don’t want to save, but don’t want to throw away either. IT helps with keeping your room clean.
Don’t bring any of them clear container organizer thingys because you look wild gay with those in your room.
Get to class about 4 mins early, and sit by the baddest chick in the class. Ask her how she like first day of class get a conversation going, ask her number just in case you miss class or need to get an assignment. Get to know here and from then its on.
If you are a minority on campus stick together. What I’m saying is don’t mean mug your fellow brother or sister. Say whats up, acknowledge they are walking past you. Might make some good connections that way with some cool people. Join your respective minority student unions and most likely there will be people there that are going through the same that you are. Also you dont have to be part of the minority to join. They might look at you funny the first day, but most likely the ladies will accept you on some trying to get to know the culture tip. I’ve seen it work. Latin student organizations.
Make friends with girls, because they have no problem giving you a couple meals from their meal plan, since they are usually trying to lose weight or some . Make friends with ugly girls because usually the have hot friends that they can introduce you to.
Finally if you are just not the outgoing type and can’t see yourself talking to people you don’t know, join a couple activities. On-campus activities are a great way to meet knew people, and if you join the right activity then you might be in luck with the ladies.
If you’re gonna live off campus (I do) dont just come to class and go home after its over, link up with some people you met in class and have them introduce you to some people.
^^ To go along with that you can join a club or fraternity thats a good way to meet people.
Shower/Bathroom/Laundry
*All the dorms i’ve seen use 1 ply toilet paper… so if you have a really sensitive … bring your own toilet paper.
*You should ALWAYS wear sandals or flipflops when in the shower… expecially guys… cause you know what peopel do in there when they can’t do it anywhere else
*don’t forget your room key when you go to the shower. There’s nothing worse than standing outside of your dorm room in nothing but a towel because your roommate left and locked the door behind him.
*That brings me to my next point… I liked actually bringing my clothes to the shower with me… that way I could change in there and not have to walk around the dorms in a towel.. expecially in winter.
*When you do laundry… do it during the day when its not busy… and if it is busy, don’t leave your in the dryer all day. people will just take it out and leave it in a pile somehwere. Be nice and make sure you get down there when your stuff is done.
*Don’t wash strong colors with white… unless you want pink or orange socks.
*it also helps to have some kind of carrying case/basket kind of thing to carry all of your toiletries in. makes for easy transporting
College Life
College Life
*You probably know this… but try to join some clubs related to your major, or any type of intramural sports team. Even if you just go outside and throw the frisbee with some friends.. usually others walking by will come up and join you.
*Try not to skip too many classes… I know it sounds stupid, but it actually is worth going to most classes. Even if you know the material… its good to go just to get used to going to class. Cause once you start skipping… it just goes down hill and you start skipping more and more classes. Your parents pay for you to go to class… so don’t cheap them out.
*Sit next to members of the opposite sex during class. This is often a good way to get to know them. Its also a great way to get them to “study” with you before an exam.
*Busses… Some people swear by them.. but I dont. I would rather walk everywhere. Its great excersize and you don’t have to worry about waiting to get a seat.
*Be Prepared. Always carry an umbrella with you. Just throw it in your backpack or something. There’s nothing worse than getting out of a Power Hour class and seeing that its downpouring.
*Don’t be afraid to ask questions to the professor. Thats what they’re there for, don’t be afraid of them.
*If you live close to home… don’t go home every weekend. Stay at school and get some independence. Besides, there’s usually something cool to do on the weekends, even if that means just chilling with some of the people in your hall.
Other Stuff
*Buy books early so you can get used copies. Or even better, buy them online for much cheaper if you can. Book swaps are a good idea but its a risky thing, as they happen rather late. And keep the reciept… cause if you drop the class or you end up not needing the book back, you usually have like 30 days to return it for a full refund
*This goes along with the going to class thing, but remember that you’re there to learn. Take classes that are interesting to you and college will be a great experience.
*Being social is good too. The door thing as mentioned above is VERY good and so is joining a club of any sort.
*When you study, study with friends. Preferably friends who are smarter than you are in that subject. It is hard to motivate yourself to do 2 hours of optional homework a day. But if you have friends to do it with, it’ll be easier. And with doing the homework, you will do well in the class. I met good people my second semester and even though I was taking harder classes, my GPA went up more than a point.
*Do not. I mean DO NOT fall behind in class. Especially technical classes. As turkey said, if you start falling behind, it begins a downward spiral of doom.
*Keep exercising. I didn’t do anything but sit on my the first semester. I felt a lot better when I joined a Martial Arts club the second semester.
*Oh, try and meet whole bunch of different types of people. You never know when somebody you think will probably be a douche will surprise you and be really Give everyone a chance, and you will be much more successful socially
*Don’t try a long distance relationship with a girl from highschool. more likely than not it will fail. Start fresh and free
*Don’t dorm with a highschool friend. They know too much about you and have preconcieved notions about you that may make it wierd. I dormed w/ a high school friend. He turned into a nutcase. So maybe its just my situation
1. Go out on the weekends. Even if you are under 21. You can just go to the movies or a coffee shop. The more you go out and be social the better college is. It lets you meet so many different types of people. Soon enough you will find “your friends” and that will lead to long term relationships. Go to parties, go to sporting events. Don’t be afriad to ask people if they want to hang out. Everyone in college is in the same boat, everyone wants friends. Grow some BALLLZLZLLZLZZZ!

–If you get a meal plan for say 14 meals a week, make sure you eat as close to all 14 meals each week, its paid for as it is.
–if you don’t know your roommate, do your best to get along with them, because theres nothing worse than someone who hates you that has axcess to all your stuff.

Exactly bring like nalogenes and fill them with your beverage of choice and bring whatever storage device you like and fill it with cereal and just take fruit (at my school the fruit isnt even ripe when they put it out so just take it and leave it in your room for a couple days, eat it whenever…). I’d suggest doing this slightly before when lunch gets slightly crowded that way there is enough work workers serving/preparing food and they’re not out yet cleaning up tables and whatnot. thats just my personal experience with it. I never bought milk, cereal, or bananas once yet had it virtually every morning in my room freshman year… If you get caught they’ll at least from my experience they’ll just tell you not to do it again and then for the next week or so i’d go to a different dining hall with different employees.
Nothing wrong with changing majors and taking a little longer. It’s hard to pick a major at 18 and stick with it.
>Use office hours, make 3 to 4 visits per term and ask good, open ended questions or come with your paper and ask the prof to expand on the comments made when grading it.
Office hours help in classes with subjective scoring because the prof will see you as a good student who cares about the class.
Don’t go all the tim though or ask dumb questions, that will just annoy your prof.
do your best to make sure your room / bathroom area is clean.. i’m no neat freak but messy sinks with hair and dirty mirrors don’t cut it.. clean up after yourself and be sure to tell your roomate too..
-In any class that involves a discussion that only a TA oversees, make sure you get cool with them. Most of the time they are the ones who end up grading all your stuff (your professor should tell you, it’s basically any large class that involves writing). I had this TA last semester who I always saw at the gym. I’d always say what’s up, make a little small talk, and talk about the class for a minute. It goes a long way, because I never read any of the stuff, I spent no time on my papers, they sucked, and I still got an A- in the class.
-Discussion sections are meant for TALKING! All you have got to do is throw out a few of your opinions every class and you’re fine. I can’t tell you how many people don’t talk during discussion. It’s the easiest 10%+ of your grade ever.
-If this is your first year, you’re going to feel homesick for at least a day. I think pretty much everybody does.
>Don’t be in a position where you have to “cram” the night before a final, study a bit all term long. Still have a review before the exam with classmates though.
>Try to finish a major paper a few days early, wait a day or two and revise it before turning it in. Great writter usually do lots of revising.
>Avoid all nighters, the quality of work will be poor and your sleep patterns will be out of wack.
>Take advantage of the health office and gym and Student Union provided entertainment. You’re paying for it regardless, take advantage.
>Either have one freind or make a freind in every class, you can get filled in if you miss class.
>Most professors will respect you if you express an opinion contray to their own as long as you argue it well (this applies to class discussion and papers). Only a few cranks grade you down for disagreeing with them.
>Unlike HS, you may have to read all of your text books for a class.
>Be ready to buy multiple books per class and sometime you’ll have to read a bit from on of the books.
>Become an expert at citing your sources, some profs are ruthless with incorrect citations.

Homework comes first.
Don’t go out to party instead of studying (procrastinate), it will become a habit.
Don’t get a girl till 2nd semester junior year, cuz if u get a girlfriend early u gonna regret down the line, cuz of all the wild shorties u will be encountering.
Make sure u pick 1 major that u will stick wit,u don’t wanna change majors later , otherwise u’ll be doin 6 years in college when your friends do 4 years.
Apply for scholarships.
Pack some condoms
Stay low, u don’t wanna be “the man on campus”, is just tiring man. People won’t wanna hop off.
Get a fake ID so you can go to bars or get some beers or hope you have a good hookup to do so.
Make friends with people on your floor and suite in the beginning of the year, but also make friends in class and from different dorms.
Make sure you manage your time well. Time management is the most important thing to do in college.
Don’t procrastinate…get your papers done early so you don’t have to be like “Man I got two papers due tomorrow I can’t go out tonight.”

Be real cool with you RA that way if he catches you opening the back door or sneaking beer in he wont write you up

For Classes:
- Study, like thats the most important part and in alot of class is reading the books and whatnot, its not hard just find the time and you’ll do well.
- Get papers done early cause they’ll usually come out better and you can get them done and over with and thats always a good feeling.
- Go to class, i can’t believe some of these idoits that don’t go to class and expect to pass, for like 90% of classes if you go to class you can pretty much lock up a C or better if you go and get your papers in.
- Make friends with people in classes, don’t blantantly cheat with them but like sharing notes and working on papers together and studying for tests. Also you can get with girls like that too, especially the not so bright ones, you can get your tutor on and trust me alot those type girls are the ones that put out…
Dorms:
- Being that chill dude thats down for whatever, like roll with the punches (which is kinda naturally me) is real good, leads to good times. Like don’t be to extroverted cause its like a confined space in the dorms and those dudes get mad annoying. Also don’t be that guy that sits on the computer every moment he isn’t in class, like play video games and that type deal is cool but like do with the people on the floor. (like on my floor we played halo 2 with over the LAN and would be like 2-3 rooms with like 12 people playing and that was good fun)
- Condoms, especially early on cause those girls, especially those catholic white girl from the burbs type are easy early on. First week of school i got with most number of girls for about any month of in just that week.
- Get a fake or become friends with someone with one and find that spot that will sell to you regularly. Cause for instance at Loyola Chicago we found this spot that evenually knew my friend on a first name basis with the name on his fake and would give us like a case for free cause we’d buy like 4-5 cases of beer or when fourty hands games came along would throw in like a handle of vodka for free…

save yourself a good $100-$200 and cop used books if you can, also ask around and see if the teacher actually uses the books (cuz some teachers have you spending like 200 and the book once the whole semester
dont fall in love wit the first chick you meet (if you a dude) you’re gonna be meeting new chicks everyday, especially your first year so dont lock yourself down immediately.
Depending on your dorm size, bring a good sized tv. You can’t invite no shorties over to watch a movie on a lil 13inch that ya moms gonna tell you to bring. Make friends with a couple seniors or people over 21, so you can get easy access to the L. Bring condoms and have a condom bowl (put a couple magnums in there to show your true size) in your room. Even if you not hittin’ anything you still look like you baggin chicks. Make sure you bring videogames, because sometimes there is just not nothing to do. Bring a footlocker or a chest so you can throw random in there that you don’t want to save, but don’t want to throw away either. IT helps with keeping your room clean.
Don’t bring any of them clear container organizer thingys because you look wild gay with those in your room.
Get to class about 4 mins early, and sit by the baddest chick in the class. Ask her how she like first day of class get a conversation going, ask her number just in case you miss class or need to get an assignment. Get to know here and from then its on.
If you are a minority on campus stick together. What I’m saying is don’t mean mug your fellow brother or sister. Say whats up, acknowledge they are walking past you. Might make some good connections that way with some cool people. Join your respective minority student unions and most likely there will be people there that are going through the same that you are. Also you dont have to be part of the minority to join. They might look at you funny the first day, but most likely the ladies will accept you on some trying to get to know the culture tip. I’ve seen it work. Latin student organizations.
Make friends with girls, because they have no problem giving you a couple meals from their meal plan, since they are usually trying to lose weight or some . Make friends with ugly girls because usually the have hot friends that they can introduce you to.
Finally if you are just not the outgoing type and can’t see yourself talking to people you don’t know, join a couple activities. On-campus activities are a great way to meet knew people, and if you join the right activity then you might be in luck with the ladies.
If you’re gonna live off campus (I do) dont just come to class and go home after its over, link up with some people you met in class and have them introduce you to some people.
^^ To go along with that you can join a club or fraternity thats a good way to meet people.
Shower/Bathroom/Laundry
*All the dorms i’ve seen use 1 ply toilet paper… so if you have a really sensitive … bring your own toilet paper.
*You should ALWAYS wear sandals or flipflops when in the shower… expecially guys… cause you know what peopel do in there when they can’t do it anywhere else
*don’t forget your room key when you go to the shower. There’s nothing worse than standing outside of your dorm room in nothing but a towel because your roommate left and locked the door behind him.
*That brings me to my next point… I liked actually bringing my clothes to the shower with me… that way I could change in there and not have to walk around the dorms in a towel.. expecially in winter.
*When you do laundry… do it during the day when its not busy… and if it is busy, don’t leave your in the dryer all day. people will just take it out and leave it in a pile somehwere. Be nice and make sure you get down there when your stuff is done.
*Don’t wash strong colors with white… unless you want pink or orange socks.
*it also helps to have some kind of carrying case/basket kind of thing to carry all of your toiletries in. makes for easy transporting
College Life
College Life
*You probably know this… but try to join some clubs related to your major, or any type of intramural sports team. Even if you just go outside and throw the frisbee with some friends.. usually others walking by will come up and join you.
*Try not to skip too many classes… I know it sounds stupid, but it actually is worth going to most classes. Even if you know the material… its good to go just to get used to going to class. Cause once you start skipping… it just goes down hill and you start skipping more and more classes. Your parents pay for you to go to class… so don’t cheap them out.
*Sit next to members of the opposite sex during class. This is often a good way to get to know them. Its also a great way to get them to “study” with you before an exam.
*Busses… Some people swear by them.. but I dont. I would rather walk everywhere. Its great excersize and you don’t have to worry about waiting to get a seat.
*Be Prepared. Always carry an umbrella with you. Just throw it in your backpack or something. There’s nothing worse than getting out of a Power Hour class and seeing that its downpouring.
*Don’t be afraid to ask questions to the professor. Thats what they’re there for, don’t be afraid of them.
*If you live close to home… don’t go home every weekend. Stay at school and get some independence. Besides, there’s usually something cool to do on the weekends, even if that means just chilling with some of the people in your hall.
Other Stuff
*Buy books early so you can get used copies. Or even better, buy them online for much cheaper if you can. Book swaps are a good idea but its a risky thing, as they happen rather late. And keep the reciept… cause if you drop the class or you end up not needing the book back, you usually have like 30 days to return it for a full refund
*This goes along with the going to class thing, but remember that you’re there to learn. Take classes that are interesting to you and college will be a great experience.
*Being social is good too. The door thing as mentioned above is VERY good and so is joining a club of any sort.
*When you study, study with friends. Preferably friends who are smarter than you are in that subject. It is hard to motivate yourself to do 2 hours of optional homework a day. But if you have friends to do it with, it’ll be easier. And with doing the homework, you will do well in the class. I met good people my second semester and even though I was taking harder classes, my GPA went up more than a point.
*Do not. I mean DO NOT fall behind in class. Especially technical classes. As turkey said, if you start falling behind, it begins a downward spiral of doom.
*Keep exercising. I didn’t do anything but sit on my the first semester. I felt a lot better when I joined a Martial Arts club the second semester.
*Oh, try and meet whole bunch of different types of people. You never know when somebody you think will probably be a douche will surprise you and be really Give everyone a chance, and you will be much more successful socially
*Don’t try a long distance relationship with a girl from highschool. more likely than not it will fail. Start fresh and free
*Don’t dorm with a highschool friend. They know too much about you and have preconcieved notions about you that may make it wierd. I dormed w/ a high school friend. He turned into a nutcase. So maybe its just my situation
1. Go out on the weekends. Even if you are under 21. You can just go to the movies or a coffee shop. The more you go out and be social the better college is. It lets you meet so many different types of people. Soon enough you will find “your friends” and that will lead to long term relationships. Go to parties, go to sporting events. Don’t be afriad to ask people if they want to hang out. Everyone in college is in the same boat, everyone wants friends. Grow some BALLLZLZLLZLZZZ!

–If you get a meal plan for say 14 meals a week, make sure you eat as close to all 14 meals each week, its paid for as it is.
–if you don’t know your roommate, do your best to get along with them, because theres nothing worse than someone who hates you that has axcess to all your stuff.
“Even if you don’t want to eat, just go there and take as much stuff out as you can. If you like cereal, you may as well go to the dining hall and fill up instead of buying some.â€
Exactly bring like nalogenes and fill them with your beverage of choice and bring whatever storage device you like and fill it with cereal and just take fruit (at my school the fruit isnt even ripe when they put it out so just take it and leave it in your room for a couple days, eat it whenever…). I’d suggest doing this slightly before when lunch gets slightly crowded that way there is enough work workers serving/preparing food and they’re not out yet cleaning up tables and whatnot. thats just my personal experience with it. I never bought milk, cereal, or bananas once yet had it virtually every morning in my room freshman year… If you get caught they’ll at least from my experience they’ll just tell you not to do it again and then for the next week or so i’d go to a different dining hall with different employees.
Nothing wrong with changing majors and taking a little longer. It’s hard to pick a major at 18 and stick with it.
>Use office hours, make 3 to 4 visits per term and ask good, open ended questions or come with your paper and ask the prof to expand on the comments made when grading it.
Office hours help in classes with subjective scoring because the prof will see you as a good student who cares about the class.
Don’t go all the tim though or ask dumb questions, that will just annoy your prof.
do your best to make sure your room / bathroom area is clean.. i’m no neat freak but messy sinks with hair and dirty mirrors don’t cut it.. clean up after yourself and be sure to tell your roomate too..
-In any class that involves a discussion that only a TA oversees, make sure you get cool with them. Most of the time they are the ones who end up grading all your stuff (your professor should tell you, it’s basically any large class that involves writing). I had this TA last semester who I always saw at the gym. I’d always say what’s up, make a little small talk, and talk about the class for a minute. It goes a long way, because I never read any of the stuff, I spent no time on my papers, they sucked, and I still got an A- in the class.
-Discussion sections are meant for TALKING! All you have got to do is throw out a few of your opinions every class and you’re fine. I can’t tell you how many people don’t talk during discussion. It’s the easiest 10%+ of your grade ever.
-If this is your first year, you’re going to feel homesick for at least a day. I think pretty much everybody does.
>Don’t be in a position where you have to “cram” the night before a final, study a bit all term long. Still have a review before the exam with classmates though.
>Try to finish a major paper a few days early, wait a day or two and revise it before turning it in. Great writter usually do lots of revising.
>Avoid all nighters, the quality of work will be poor and your sleep patterns will be out of wack.
>Take advantage of the health office and gym and Student Union provided entertainment. You’re paying for it regardless, take advantage.
>Either have one freind or make a freind in every class, you can get filled in if you miss class.
>Most professors will respect you if you express an opinion contray to their own as long as you argue it well (this applies to class discussion and papers). Only a few cranks grade you down for disagreeing with them.
>Unlike HS, you may have to read all of your text books for a class.
>Be ready to buy multiple books per class and sometime you’ll have to read a bit from on of the books.
