The parents of seven of the Virginia Tech shooting victims are mad because Nas is scheduled to perform at a tribute concert scheduled for September 6th. They argue that the Little Homey’s violent lyrics are inappropriate at a concert meant to conjur up visions of teddy bears and butterflies.
I hear what they’re saying, and I don’t mean to be insensitive, but this shit is getting ridiculous. Like, what do they think he’s gonna do, get up on stage and do "Made You Look" complete with gunshot effects and plastic gun props? So let me get this straight. Just because an artist makes music that talks about or describes violence in any way, they are no longer allowed to sympathize with victims of violence? Hip-Hop stays losing.

aii before i go, i gotta tell everyone hear about this book called Freakonomics. holy shiz i have not been able to put this book down since i got it. this dude reveals hidden truth behind pretty much everything. lemme tell u about one specific chapter, where he goes into explaining why the crime rate is down. back in 95, everyone was like holy shit the crime rate is going up at an unreal rate, it would double quickly, and in another six years the youth are gonna continue to be crazy and the world will be unlivable. it was all in the media and even bill clinton made a speech about it. fast forward to 2000, and crime STEEPLY dropped. murders, everything went straight down. the media told everyone it was becuase of stricter laws and gun control. which seemingly makes sense. but the book explains why it really went down: Abortion. it has been widely known that if u grow up in impoverished conditions u are way more likely to partake in crime. the abortion movement was gaining steam in the nineties. the women that wanted these abortions were poor women. so bascially, crime is down because a lot of would-be criminals simply arent being born.
crazy, eh? i suggest everyone pick up the book.

By the way to the people complainng about Nas dont do nothing for Africa. That “What’s goin on”record he was in 2001 was orginally meant as a charity single to combat AIDS in Africa (then they split the profits with a 9/11 charity) and he was in Nigeria last year for a fundraiser concert with Busta Rhymes.
