Cass addresses speculation about some of his recent bars.

    @ BKS– I know, I know..

I’m just not as cynical as the rest of the rap world–not saying this site, ya’ll are some openminded cats for the most part–yet.

Thing is man.. So much of my life and identity has/had to do with the rap I grew up listening to.. and even the shit I like now.. Seeing it diluted the way it is now is painful..

If I had a nickel for each time a rap song has brought me out of a bad mood or depression or whatever, I’d be a rich motherfucker.. I appreciate that shit, ya know? Be it the lyrics, the beats, whatever.. The legitimate swagger acquired by hustling and putting out quality music, thoughtful music (not emo thoughtful but taking the time to do it right thoughtful).. that shit can be inspiring.

The right lyrics can flip the whole day around, ya know?

Rap just doesn’t do that shit anymore, not really anyway.. so when someone like ‘Ye comes out with a joint like “Stronger” or “Can’t tell me nothing”, that’s shit you can bank on, shit you can put on like motherfucking armor and get thru your day..

The world is a shitty enough place these days, man.. Some days it’s fuckin’ hard to get outta bed, but you all know just as well as I do–so get outta character for a second and walk with me–that the right song at the right time can take you all the way back from the brink..

So riddle me this, am I really such an emo ayo whatever the hell for thinking this way?

    @ Rey.. I feel you..

you can compare this to the audio version of gentrification..

they see the wacktastic rap sells.. they make the good music move off the airwaves.. the “hood” is now flooded with “money making ventures” rather than something that feels like home.. like what you grew up with.. like what you’ve come to know and love..

    I overstand rey

I don’t think Cass trying to hate, unless he’s said some things previously about wayne that i haven’t heard. i think he’s just saying that for shock value, so people will talk about him more, to create buzz. in todays times it only takes one or two bars that have shock value to get people checkin for you now.

Cass lost it, I was never a fan, but I can see his fall from grace w/e you wanna call it.

Cassidy is top 5 out for sure. He spits and doesnt waste the beats. I appreciate dude for real. Did niggas here him on Big things poppin? I cant listen to T.I. no more on that beat and as for what he said about Wayne, any real nigga could respect that. C’mon, Wayne admitted to kissing his NON-BIOLOGICAL pops on the mouth religiously but when you’re a fan, people choose to overlook it. In fact, nobody talks about that no more? Is it because seeing dudes with sugar in their tanks is becoming common place? Fans are fickle boy, when you’re on top, they choose to ignore stuff but when it’s time to hate i.e. 50 his every move is hated on, lol.

Wayne kissed another man on the lips and it’s swept under the rug? The dude is inconsistent to me however, i respect his work ethic. He’s on everybody’s track.

^Co-sign, I said in the other thread the balance is all fucked up, but who fault is it really? The machine, like budden said, someone had to market it, someone plays the records, someone gave majority of these niggas deals. I just hate when someone comes in & says “I hate all south music” they usually hate it because there favorite rapper aint getting much shine. Now everyone on here admitted to saying they don’t watch music videos or listen to the radio, those are the only 2 places where the so called “rappers” are shining, not in you’re disc changer, so why is everyone mad? If you don’t listen to the radio, when do you hear these horrible songs? If you don’t like cough*south music* cough, then don’t listen, I don’t like lupe, I respect him but don’t like him, you never hear me say “fuck lupe” for no reason, I simply don’t talk about him, cause he gets no bump in the whip/house etc so he dosen’t exsist to me, but these haters do nothing but hate, if you don’t like something STFU & K.I.M

I’m just depressed with this music at the moment in time. Too much T.I.P, too much Lil’ Wayne. Too much Boosie. Not enough of that from-the-heart rebel music/culture that I was brought up with. I used to be in a b-boy crew back in the day. Came home with bruises from doing backspin’s (nhjic).

I agree but I think you have to separate them into categories, rap vs. hip hop. Because I can say I honestly listened to them both growing up. You have your hip hop classics, but then again I listed to a lot of Brotha Lynch Hung, Cbo etc and who says those aren’t classics either? Rap classic maybe. As long as we know and acknowledge the difference, it’s really okay. Only question is, where do we draw the line between rap and hip hop?
