Talib, Kanye, Mos Def and Common.
On the tiny, cramped stage of tiny, cramped, unventilated S.O.B’s (which was so hot back in the days of the weekly Soul Kitchen parties….sigh), we the crowd witnessed a jam session like no other. I’m talking Common testifying, then Q-tip world-touring, then Talib Kweli and Mos Def just getting by, then Swizz Beats telling us she aint got no money in the bank, then Kanye makin’ em say and more…..and all the while, they’re all on stage together, chanting each others lyrics like fans of this, not just superstars in this.
When does shit like this ever happen? Never, that’s when. And I was sitting at home scratchin my nuts.

^^At the moment, I would say Common basically for the same reasons you stated. I think Talib and Mos work better as a duo (Black Star) than as solo artists in most cases. There are some definite solo exceptions for both of them though….

I have a confession to make, (no cam’ron in leather jumper holding a sledge hammer) i’m starting to hate true hip hop, not the old stuff, but what’s considered the new stuff in hip hop, I really wasen’t feeling nas last album, i’m really not feeling any of the artist that’s tryna keep hip hop alive (WTF that means). besides saigon & mega, & I feel NY artist complain too much to not have quality music. The machine is also plays a big part in why I feel this way, pushing back albums that doesen’t have any ringtone type songs on there, forcing the MC to make music there not comfortable with. I realized why I feel like this when I come on nah right & it’s post like this that I don’t wanna even look @, not because the artist are wack, but I know most of them is gonna be on some “lets embrace REAL HIP HOP” shit & I don’t wanna hear that shit at all. So all & all i’m still gonna listen to hip hop/rap w/e, but the love I once had for it is slowly dying. Thank you & good morning
