Tony Yayo: Ghost Didn’t Write Supreme Clientele
I didn’t even realize there was a 50 feature in the new SPIN with Amy Winehouse on the cover, but they went ahead and posted the writer’s entire transcript and it has some keel-over-laughing gems. The best part is where the writer is talking to 50 about not cursing on records and being artistic. He brings up Ghostface, and in between scoffs, Tony Yayo claims that some kid named Superb from Far Rockaway wrote the entire album. Just go here, because you really have to read this shit. Other than that it’s a pretty good interview. Curtis even takes a moment to stick up for his baby moms other baby daddy.

EDIT: Ok, a reader just hit me up and jogged my memory. Superb was a kid from Rae’s American Cream Team, who allegedly claimed to have written most of SC. I vaguely recall hearing something like that. Supposedly there is an mp3 of a jail phone call from him where he speaks on it, as referenced in this wutang-corp.com thread. If it exists and somebody has it, break down. Props to David for the info.
UPDATE: Maura from Idolator was kind enough to point me to the interview where Ghost claimed he wasn’t gonna curse on his next album. I remember when OhWord posted it, I was on Ghost overload and I meant to go back and listen, but never did. Shame on a ninja.

@ Phuque– I copped GRODT the friday it came out.. I was floored by the production, hooks, and swagger in the car doing whatever it was we were doing that nite.
By the 3rd listen I realized that 50 is not a very good rapper.
By the 4th listen I was listening for Em’s verse on “Patiently Waiting”, and the beats.
By the 5th listen I was done with 50 and ready for something else.
By listen #6 I was wondering what I was doing listening to that shit again.
Then in late spring/early summer 2003 50 was everywhere, on all my presets, and everybody was calling him the Hottest rapper out, but not one person on God’s Blessed Earth was calling him the best rapper out.
At press time, nobody has.
Being called Hot does not = Skills, Hot just means the people like you, and 50,000,000 people copped albums from MC Hammer, ‘Nilla Ice, and Spice Girls CDs, and they were considered “hot”, but not Skillful at all.

A) the dynamic of the lyrics on SC make it pretty difficult for someone to have written and then have someone else spit.. he rhymes 100 mph and in a manner that i’m still trying to decipher on my 1000th listen
B) I recall an interview with Ghost where he says he’s going to stop cursing.. something along the lines of he’s said it all before, said everything he’s needed to say about all the grimey shit, now hes doing god’s work, etc etc.
C) g-unit makes wonderful records that sell to young white kids. WU TANG’s hip-hop skill is undeniable and is really quite incredible. if you’re writing in this forum anything along the lines of g-unit > wutang, you must be relatively young and have not been properly schooled on the wu yet.. i feel sorry for you.. go get 36 chambers and STUDY

I can’t stand 90% of the music I hear from the South (mostly singles)– but ya know what? ^Before today, I couldn’t even remember the last time I been to the movies. And I usually don’t indulge in the pagan ritual of buyin’ nachos and candy (though I used to years ago), but I figured “what the hell?” since I’ve been dyin’ to see this movie. I was lucky enough that my prof. today let the class out early (usually we get out at 1:20) and I was able to catch the 1:45 feature. Didn’t even know when the features were playin’, just wanted to see it.

Ghost is dope but if ya’ll listen to 36 Chamber & Only Built 4 Cuban Links Ghost sounds wack compared to some of Iron Man & all of Supreme Clientele.
