I always ask people this question “What is so great about Scarface?” and I always get this generic statement “Well he made something out of nothing, he rose from the top to the bottom, He was a poor dude that got in coke game and made it happen, and became kingpin”. I’m like wtf does that mean and how does that substance even matter today in the world and where is this critically acclaimed movie plot?

Scarface was a classic and it was more than just a movie about drug dealing. It also dealt with the the differences bewteen capitalism and communism and how neither goverenment was ideal for Tony.

^Well, imo I think the fascination with Scarface is not just the drug references, but the rebellion against Amerikkka. Minorities (especially the Brown ones) feel they are owed something because of how the gov’t uses their respective homelands to import/export drugs without explanation, compensation, which leads to said degredation (no Jessie Jackson pattern). Cuba, Columbia, and other West Indian islands have always voiced their displeasure for Amerikkkan practices, and it just so happens that Scarface was the first of it’s kind to expose that mentality. And of course this trickles down to African Americans because we are the petty drug pushers who feel that opportunities were stripped from us with the most financially rewarding choice being a hustler.
