Well, the summer just got a little cooler. Curtis just got his shit pushed waaaay back to September 4th. I’m guessing the new date is due to the lack of buzz around his three garbage singles. Or at least that’s what Interscope will say, but we all know what really happened. Point Cameron.

There’s always an artist who either A) never sold any records or B) an artist who does not sell anymore that complains about the state of hip-hop. Truth be told, your issue with hip-hop is that you are not able to eat off of it like the people that you claim do not deserve to. If you were moving units and were a household name, you would not be complaining about anything. Like Biggie Smalls said “Don’t Be Mad, UPS is hiring.â€. If hip-hop is dead, you contributed to it’s death by being signed onto a label, getting an advance (whether minimal or large amount), got money from tours, and made percentages of sales. Hip-Hop started dying when motherfuckers tried to leave their stoop and get paid from it. Artists kill me talking about how fucked up labels are, but what did you expect? They made Michael Jackson lie and say he was 8 years old when he was really 12, so what made/makes you believe that you are going to be exempt from being given a gimmick as well? Public Enemy was a gimmick just like NWA was a gimmick. When Public Enemy was hot, you had a gang of Political ass groups out. When NWA got hot, labels shifted their focus to Gangsta Rap. Basically, you became a label hoe as soon as you decided to sign the dotted line. You legally put your integrity on the line…FUCK UP!! If you were keeping it real and wanted to keep ‘real’ hip hop afloat, you would have got you a 9 to 5 and ate off of that and did your hip hop thing before you go to work, during lunch break and after you got home from work. If you got signed to a label, you love for hip hop isn’t/wasn’t primary or secondary. First and foremost, you wanted that check to get your ass off the block and secondly, you wanted to get some bitches on your jock. You can claim to keep it real all you want to..but I have been to Roots, Kweli, KRS, Common shows that costed me over 30 bucks to get into. On top of that, if the promoter didn’t have their money readily available…you were not getting a performance…whether it was a packed house or not. I have seen Young Jeezy for free twice. Hip-Hop is not only a way of life, culture, etc. but it is a business as well. If you got an album sitting on a shelf at Virgin, Fye, or wherever…someone is getting paid off of it. Hip-Hop ain’t dead, it just doesn’t work for you right now and that’s what you really need to admit.
^Jeff, a blogger from xxlmag.com made a very good point….I refuse to offer condolensces to a man that was placed in the same position as me and given the same oppurtunities and complain about how fucked up the state of hip hop, because Joe Buddens is a failure and sucks at life.

Most hip hop fans seem to hate Timbo(except me, timbo > swizz). Swizz is too hit or miss and I can’t stand the way he always samples Jay-Z or how all his beats have bells and whistles. But he’s had some bangers.
Timbo’s most recent work on pop albums has been crazy. It’s a combination of different music styles ranging from techno and disco to hip hop to rock to reggaeton.
