I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion but Beans is reaching. First of all, ‘Ye and ‘Rell never claimed to be hood. It’s not in their music. Not in their interviews. Not in their persona. And not even in their entourage. I think Beans attempt to define what it is to be a Black man in Amerikkka is limited. Not all Black men have grown up under the same circumstances. There are plenty of people who grew up in the worst of hoods but don’t embody what it is to be “hood”. Their household and upbringing had more influence on them than the streets so they veer more towards that mentality. Kanye’s situation, judging from what he told us in his Sway interview, is just one of thousands: a Black boy who was an only child raised by a single mother so he took upon the actions of the one that was close to him. Not to mention he was probably HEAVILY involved with a Black church (which is a topic for another discussion). These guys are just being themselves and the current rap fans (teenagers) are shifting towards that image because that’s what’s popular. Like many of you, I’m from a rough urban area (B’more Careful) and grew up with the Hoodies & Timbs era of hip hop (BCC, Wu, LOTU, etc). And that’s what most of us were doing, which is no different from today. I agree that Beans knows what it means to be hood and therefore is allowed to speak on what’s hood and what’s not. And since that’s the case, maybe he should be pressin’ the ones who claim that status but don’t live up to it, i.e. Cam’ron (since he’s been in the press heavily lately).
Now lets talk about GAY. Ok, they dress “different”. Big deal. But what people view as “different” probably aren’t knowledgable of old school fashion from the late 60’s and 70’s: regular fit jeans/pants, butterfly collar shirts with the top buttons open, fedoras, expensive hard-bottom shoes (gators), big sunglasses, etc. Many people don’t know that style is just a spin of old fashion. And if you’re Black then you can probably find old pictures with fathers and uncles dressin’ the same way. And since we’re on the topic of “out of the closet”, what about the homo thugs in the hood? The ones who come home from the bing who were probably in the clink doin’ “you know what” what the another dude. And it’s not like dudes in the hood don’t know, yet nobody says anything. Then all of a sudden the increase of Black women with HIV sky-rockets and everybody is just so baffled about this “epidemic”. Now, I’m not here to defend nor bash homosexuality (though as a hetero I partake in the clowning of them just like many others). But if we’re basing it solely on wardrobe then there needs to be more concrete evidence. And right now, just about every Black man who rock high end fashions, regular fit clothes, or self-consciece about skin care/hygiene is being called out. We got a shit load of Black women who can’t/don’t think for themselves pointin’ fingers and callin’ every Black man gay. And cats like Beans, whose attempt to attack someone who does nothin’ else but rap and make beats, is out of line.
I fuck with Beans music. I fucks with ‘Ye’s music. But when you start attacking another man’s sexuality (unless he’s walkin’ around with this shirt tied in a knot around his waist, lip gloss, and excessive hair grease/gel), then it needs to be more concrete than just clothes.

^I’m tryin’ to be optimistic and hope that they squash whatever differences they have. Plus Beans being high all the time aint nothin’ new. yo one of my best friends is like that, if you dont know him he could come off a gay for that reason, everything has to be pefect in an eaxct place/ order

Even though profiling is wrong I’ve read from many places that within the first 10 seconds of meeting someone people draw conclusions. It’s part of the many flaws in human nature but people need to deal with it. Don’t make it easier for people to profile you. There are certain things within our control to prevent us from getting profiled like the way we dress. I still get pulled over by cops all the time but if I had the “thug” look I know it’d be worse. Kanye has the “homo” look so he should expect to be judged that way.

I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion but Beans is reaching. First of all, ‘Ye and ‘Rell never claimed to be hood. It’s not in their music. Not in their interviews. Not in their persona. And not even in their entourage. I think Beans attempt to define what it is to be a Black man in Amerikkka is limited. Not all Black men have grown up under the same circumstances. There are plenty of people who grew up in the worst of hoods but don’t embody what it is to be “hood”. Their household and upbringing had more influence on them than the streets so they veer more towards that mentality. Kanye’s situation, judging from what he told us in his Sway interview, is just one of thousands: a Black boy who was an only child raised by a single mother so he took upon the actions of the one that was close to him. Not to mention he was probably HEAVILY involved with a Black church (which is a topic for another discussion). These guys are just being themselves and the current rap fans (teenagers) are shifting towards that image because that’s what’s popular. Like many of you, I’m from a rough urban area (B’more Careful) and grew up with the Hoodies & Timbs era of hip hop (BCC, Wu, LOTU, etc). And that’s what most of us were doing, which is no different from today. I agree that Beans knows what it means to be hood and therefore is allowed to speak on what’s hood and what’s not. And since that’s the case, maybe he should be pressin’ the ones who claim that status but don’t live up to it, i.e. Cam’ron (since he’s been in the press heavily lately).
Now lets talk about GAY. Ok, they dress “different”. Big deal. But if we’re basing it solely on wardrobe then there needs to be more concrete evidence. And right now, just about every Black man who rock high end fashions, regular fit clothes, or self-consciece about skin care/hygiene is being called out. We got a shit load of Black women who can’t/don’t think for themselves pointin’ fingers and callin’ every Black man gay. And cats like Beans, whose attempt to attack someone who does nothin’ else but rap and make beats, is out of line.

Even though profiling is wrong I’ve read from many places that within the first 10 seconds of meeting someone people draw conclusions. It’s part of the many flaws in human nature but people need to deal with it. Don’t make it easier for people to profile you. There are certain things within our control to prevent us from getting profiled like the way we dress. I still get pulled over by cops all the time but if I had the “thug” look I know it’d be worse. Kanye has the “homo” look so he should expect to be judged that way.
