You know how much coke comes in the country every year? We are arresting people for mere grams when there are hundreds of keys being distributed. Which leads me to my main concern. There is a mandatory sentencing disparity between crack and powder cocaine of 100 to 1. 5 grams of crack-cocaine gets you 5 years minimum, and 500 grams of regular cocaine gets you the same. This is a big deal for the black community because it leads to our people getting the brunt of the “war on drugs” and thrown in jail serving sentences fit for big-time dealers. But I am probably preaching to the choir on this one…
