Now, this morning I read Mr. Page’s column , “Covering up for Killers” , and it seems that he is astounded (and outraged) as well.

Obviously, this issue goes deeper than race. It is about the American justice system. It is about the number of young people who are given long prison sentences and life without parole for nonviolent and lesser offenses. The numbers of people languishing in prisons with no chance for redemption are mostly young black men, but there are also a fair number of white boys (and girls) there too.

I am a middle aged white woman and have seen enough injustice in our so-called system of justice that I have taught my children that if they are near the vicinity of ANY CRIME to call us and NOT TO TALK TO THE POLICE FOR ANY REASON without the presence of an attorney.

I know a young man who was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and he voluntarily told the police everything he knew to “help” them. The police then twisted his words to trap him into being an “admission” that he was a part of the crime (which he wasn’t). He was convicted by a jury using the FELONY MURDER RULE and is now in his 16th year of a LIFE SENTENCE!

I imagine that the African American community is well aware of these tactics used by prosecutorial officers, and they have learned the hard way that policemen are not your friends.

I would love to see 60 Minutes do a story on the number of young people sentenced to life in prison (with no chance for parole) under the FELONY MURDER RULE. I would love to see Mr. Page start snitching on the way our Courts throw these kids away, with no chance to return.

If you still here, how do you feel about your man loaded lux taking a step backwards & going on 106 & park freestyle friday?

^I was kinda iffy about that move too. I was like, damn, he was destroyin’ cats on the SMACK joints, so why go to BET? BUT… I also realized that commercial exposure is what gets you noticed. Serius Jones got his exposre from Fight Klub, which was featured on MTV. Most people who are into the SMACK joints know that it’s strictly some underground ish. And being on MTV helped Serius get that deal with DTP. So yeah, I did think of it as a step backwards at first. But the opponents on 106 are a lot weaker (his REAL competition would’ve been about 6 years ago when Posta Boy, Avalanche, Drift, etc. was battlin’). That could work in his favor though because once he smash all the opponents, labels will check for his Myspace/mixtapes/dvd appearances and make their decision from there.

Especially with a track like “No Model” that could EASILY get airplay.

On that note… I’m off to class…
