true. Deaf Jam is lazy as hell. Redman is right what he said in an interview a couple weeks ago. These labels and a&r’s don’t want to work and build with their artists anymore. They want the finished package, ready to go right from jump. From what I’ve heard so far this Red album is already better than Malpractice.

Today Defjam is what anchors a good hip hop artist on his way to the top.
Its a fact Jay Z is a mediocre president, why he was offered the position, I have no idea. There are rappers and then there are presidents of record companies. The qualifications for those 2 positions vary, and even though Jay is a good businessman, frankly he has no fucking idea what he’s doing with that title he’s been giving at Def jam. It’s stupid really, the roster at defjam was once flawless in terms of rap talent, even now they still have alot of great rappers that have been in the game for a long time.
Anyone who supports Jay as the president of Def Jam has been brainwashed by this site and has been overcome with blatant stanism, which is like some posters here. One of the greatest rappers? top 5? top 2? Yeah I can answer yes to all of those. But as president Hov is garbage and he doesnt take any iniciative to do shit that will help his artists.

That was an interesting article Jo Jo, the dude Ehrenstein has got a great writing style. I think he’s spot on with the whole article, the idea that Obama is a ‘watered down’ version of the stereotypical black man helps the white man to realistically embrace him as President and also therefore as a superior. It therefore also helps assuage the white man’s guilt of previous injustices meted out to African Americans by having a figurehead black man as President. I commend Obama for proposing the need to unite rather than divide but I think it is essential to analyse the disparities between all ethnic groups before he talks of uniting. How is he going to gain the confidence of the black community if this is not done? Otherwise he’ll be a token black President voted in by white people to make it seem as though America is a model of racial equality but he won’t have the majority of the black vote which is what he needs because that is the idea of having a black President, to equal out the differences and represent black rights properly. Thats my take Jo Jo, not sure if its coherent at all but that article has got me thinkin…………

I’m readin this book right now on the Shroud of Turin, that piece of cloth thats stored in a church in Turin, Italy, which is supposedly the burial shroud of Jesus Christ. G Rap is one of my favourites too. The Rated XXX cd is the last shit he put out with DJ Polo. It’s got a mixture of stuff they did together up until the mid 90′s.
Illegal is a duo that came out in the early-mid 90′s out of Philly. They were young when they came out. They’re probably only around 26 now. They split up a while back. Mr. Malik headed out west and you’re probably familiar with Jamal. He’s a Def Squad member and was on Redman’s last album Malpractice and Blackout.

Yo Billz, you ever read up on any history? I don’t know why but I find early Church history interesting, mostly because I love windin my Moms up by tellin her she’s got mis-guided faith cos its all bullshit but whateva…….why is it that black people always hold on to that religion thing? Following the Mar. 6 release of his solo debut Don’t Quit Your Day Job, G.O.O.D. Music recording artist Consequence is issuing a challenge to those doubting the quality of his album: he is offering to issue a refund to anyone who doesn’t find a song they like.
Consequence said those wishing to claim the refund can contact him via his MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/constothequence for additional details.
Don’t Quit Your Day Job debuted at #1 on Billboard’s New Artist chart, but the album only sold 7,490 units its first week in stores.
“It ain’t really about being cocky or confident,†Consequence told AllHipHop.com. “It’s just that I believe. I grew up off Hip-Hop, so I know what I put out. I wouldn’t even make a statement like that if I didn’t really believe in my heart, that this album wasn’t contrary to the statement ‘Hip-Hop is Dead,’ given my legacy of where I come from.”
Consequence admitted that he may face an obstacle with a younger generation of Hip-Hop fans, who may not be familiar with his body of work, which started with appearances on A Tribe Called Quest’s 1996 release Beats, Rhymes & Life.
“The kind Hip-Hop that I do now is the rarity,†Consequence said. “This project and the music that’s on there and the type of Hip-Hop that it represents, means this much to me. Because if I let this die, then essentially, everything that I grew up on is dead, that’s what you’re trying to tell me. And I don’t believe that.â€
In addition to the widespread press surrounding his first week sales, Consequence believes that potential fans may be dismayed from purchasing the album because of it’s low-profile arrival.
He attributes the lack of a large scale marketing campaign to his decision to release this project through Red Distribution, a Sony-BMG owned independent record distributor.
“I put the record out through the vehicle of Red because I was hoping that with all the things that I had done, I could come out 10,000 the first week,†Consequence said. “I came close. I didn’t know when I was gonna have the option to utilize the promotional engine of Sony. And that’s why I chose to go this route, because I felt it was that important to get the music out, to get the message out. A lot of people wouldn’t even have gambled with their reputation like that.â€
Up next for Consequence is the release of Don’t Quit Your Day Job’s second single, “Don’t Forget ‘Em,†which was produced by Kanye West.
Consequence is also planning the 20-day “Job Experienced Tour” in support of the album.

and its not because they suddenly don’t know how to work a hip hop project.. there is a directive being promoted… as to what it is.. we can only speculate. The only video I see that vaguely resembles hip hop is that akon joint.. other than that NO love.. everything is emo rock or american idol winners.. last time i check all of the above are selling..

No one buys albums just for singles no more (not even females) why buy all these one hit wonder albums when a DJ gonna come out wit a cd with all the hot singles that’s popping at the time on 1 disc. When 50 dropped we can all agree (even the gun-it haters) that his whole album was hot, not just his singles so you had to buy the album, now niggas albums be garbage wit 5 good songs on there. I used to work at Def Jam when they dropped the black album.. but even though i could get a box of cd’s i till went to the store to cop the actual album. lookin back that was the last actual album i purchased.. I think the two biggest screw dj’s are michael 3000 watts and OG Ron C. Most of the time you can find a no name dj to screw a cd. they usually are better than watts and ron c because the be sctatch and mixin too much. The underground djs just play it slow than a mug and tag it a little

I’m going with Red. The best thing Prodigy has going for him is production by Al. Red is way more consistent so if he rips the album up, it’s nothing new. Everybody is eagerly anticipating to hear Prodigy to return to the form he had in 2000 so a lotta heads will be checking for him. But I’ll take Red’s wittiness and sense of humour over Prodigy’s tough guy raps any day.

^ ok, its like this… Canibus records 5 different sets of 200 bars. he puts each set on their own channel, which are like layers over the beat like he said. you can only hear one channel at a time, so if your listenin to channel 1, you’ll hear only the first set of 200 bars. but if you switch to the 2nd channel, you’ll hear only the second set of 200 bars. so you can listen to one bar of the 1st set, then switch the channel and hear a bar from one of the other 200 bars. he called it infinite because theres so many combinations of how the song plays out. im not good at math, but theres technically not an infinite number of combinations, but the number of combo’s you could have is mad high… just like Canibus when he thought of this idea.
