I believe that $7 a copy thing…..The only problem with that (in my opinion) is that you are not guaranteed radio spins (unless it’s an obvious banger, like We Fly High).
I think 50 ain’t down with that (and the reason why he ain’t bringin his artists to Koch) is because being where they at (GUnit) they get maaaaaaaaaaaaaaad radio/video spins, which bring in maaaaaaad dough in royalties and pubblishings.
This is the only difference I can see. 5o and them might get less per copy sold, but they getting way more in royalties from radio play. They get their records spun like crazy. Can’t say the same for Dipset.
Major labels OWN radio stations and music channels.
Plus, Koch can afford to make only $2-$3 per copy cause they not investing anything, pretty much. 300′000 copies sold to them is a profit of $500′000 - $750′000….multiply that by however many artists. It’s not a bad deal. Why do you think Juelz and them are always paying for they own videos. They say it’s cause they ballin like that….I think it’s cause Koch says “video budget is $30′000″ (if that) and they ain’t havin that.
