Y’all who don’t know Skillz, but hate on him, hmmm….Anybody involved with hip hop knows Skillz cause he spends the whole year touring with people and ghostwriting your favorite rapper’s songs. If you really wanna know something good, do what the song says and goto myspace.com/yourghostwriter or myspace.com/skillz . For the guys who had no clue in this thread, Skillz been gettin screwed by the lables over the years since “From Where???” but he got “Million Dollar Backpack” coming out this summer on Koch (again, pay attention to the lyrics), and you can cop his last album “Confessions of a ghostwriter” online (search google), it got shelved by his last label so he did hid own distribution thing. Hmm…How can you feel bad for someone who tours all year. If you know anything about the music business, they sign you to a record deal and take your publishing (where your royalties come from), and give you pennies on the cd sales until you pay back the advance you spent on the new car and jewelry, and record the number of albums you signed for. This is why Jay knew which album he was quitting on, he had an 8 album deal. The artists really make money on tours, because they can get thousands per night on tour and the cd sales are pretty small til you get your first record deal over and get your publishing and production rights back. This is why you see the pattern. Artist signs deal, artist st arts label and signs artists to it. Unless you plan on doing a lot of touring, its easy for a artist to make money off others by signing them to record deals. Why you think 50 is raping the industry so hard for G-U-Not.

I’ve been waiting for the Skills “Rap Up”. Heard it here first. Again he delivered. This to me is hip-hop. The one line that stuck out to me was the, Flavor of Love bring NY back line. It was soooo true. Below the Mason-Dixon line we doing fine (even our garbage emcees). ? why does Skill only drop one hot track annually?

Bought “Hip-Hop Is Dead” this weekend (shout out to all the bootleggers on East Cap). Me and MaryJane got it in. It’s what I expected, nothing more nothing less…just Nas. To me it sounds like a mixture of all his work combined. I give it 4 out of 5 mics. I think I need more time to digest it like I did with “Streets Disciples”. But if you’re a true Nas fan you’ll appreciate it. Expecially the last track for the Beat is LA. That to me was vintage hip-hop. I reminisce.
