i was gonna say, if he puts out some “from pieces to weight” shit it’ll fly off of shelves, like more than russell 50 all of them, it’s just a matter of if he’s writing it, or if he’s gonna get someone to write it with him, seeing as he don’t even write rhymes.
lol nah but real talk, would he write about shawn cahhter’s life or jay-z’s life, two different things

>>Yo the copy of HHID that I have has a clean version of the title track for some reason.
yeah, that’s probably the biggest loss Nas took this month, having that wack ass video version on the retail.
December 9th, 2006 at 4:14 pm
What? I thought that I just had a weak, thrown together, bootleg version. Nas lost.
December 9th, 2006 at 4:18 pm
I actually think the edited version sounds better……but thats just me. Body the DJ sonds ill, fuck it though.
The video wasnt too bad, could have been so much better though.
I really would have thought for a Def Jam album Nas would make it more of an event album.
Jay-Z and Nas better get there asses in gear when they drop there next albums in the fall of 2007 cause this was underwhelming.
December 9th, 2006 at 4:21 pm

Kweli been on his game, he’s still a legend of the craft cant front on that, dude hasnt and most likely wont fall off
Jay ko0 but Nas didnt lose… i look at all points of view, did nas need jay or did jay need nas??? the only way to know is to find out who reached out to who first on working together and who was first to say i/you should sign to def jam… until then, no one knows whos won(i put my money on Nas, jay really dont like most the niggas on def jam so he prolly reached out to Nas for some support LOL)

December 9th, 2006 at 5:56 pm
@son of ether. when the those same promoters pay money to radio stations to advertise there product do they really care what is in the playlist they just care about consumers listening out for there merchandise. Oh yeah why do people keep saying that he spent 18 – 20 mil to promote his album. I didn’t know it cost 18mil to make 1 video in another country and for him to fly around in his own jet for mini concerts. since you know he paid 2o mil please tell me the breakdown of the cost
December 9th, 2006 at 6:01 pm
Yo eskay. do you think Jay will talk about weezy or do you think he will look past him

iF YALL THINK JAY Didnt WANNA CRUSH 49cents record..yall dont know JayZ…

Whoever thinks Jay didnt expect greater numbers must underestimate the intelligence that Jay Z has. He wasn’t doing PR shit just for the hell of it. Jay was hoping as president of Def Jam to do for the label what Cohen did when he dropped Jay, DMX , and Ja. Except Jay is droppin Jay, Nas, and Jeezy. He even said that shit in XXL as one reason behind him coming back. I don’t think Jay lost completely (KC obviously isnt a flop) but Jay definitely didnt create the huge momentum that he wanted to for Def Jam in the 4th quarter or the “big event” he was saying hip hop needs. KC was anti climatic. (If your a big fan of the album obviously u disagree)
@steven,
Its irrelevant how much money was spent on promotion cause the label didn’t spend it but KC is the first Jay Z album in yrs and he did have a large promotional campaign in place for it so the sales of KC shouldn’t be compared to just any other album released this year
December 9th, 2006 at 11:46 pm
here’s one for all you jay stans
http://www.mediatakeout.com/Exclusives/Jayz_Buy_Album.html
i think its safe to say jay lost
December 10th, 2006 at 11:12 am
@ MissL. you act like the year is over. we are only going into the third week. Jay said it himself that for the first week he was only looking at sales of 500k. Maybe if we stop bootlegging and maybe going out to but then it would do more. If you purchased his album please listen to the prelude.
December 10th, 2006 at 12:00 pm
^You actually believe that when Jay said he was aiming for 500k?!? lol . I know you like to defend everything Jay says and does, but C’mon man. Deep down Jay was trying pasts 50′s numbers. Anyone with common sense knows that.
I bought the album and its good, but at least I can admit that people aren’t feeling the album at this point. With time that can change. At one point he was on pace to do 850k first week and ended up doing 680-700k. Then second week 80% drop in sales?? Bootlegging plays a role, but a lot of people aren’t happy with the album. Game’s second week numbers didn’t even drop that much. KC is good, and hopefully people will catch on eventually. As of right now I’d think that Jay is disappointed that it didn’t do more. He won’t admit though.
December 10th, 2006 at 12:02 pm
edit * pass 50′s numbers
