Info On Clue’s The Professional Pt. 3

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

It appears Def Jam is intent on making a fool out of me this year. First, I said there was no way that another Ghostface album was dropping this year, and then they go and play it for me. Then I scoffed at the idea of Clue’s long overdue follow up to The Professional 2 dropping anytime in 2006. Now, I get this in an email:

Bun B Responds To Alleged BET Comments

Monday, November 27th, 2006

bun-b.jpg

Shortly after I posted the link to HHNLive’s Bun B interview this morning, I received an email from somebody purporting to be Bun himself, disputing the validity of the comments made about BET and in fact denying that the interview ever took place at all. He gave me a number that I could reach him at and asked that I contact him to clear up the misinformation. Although I did call the number and did in fact receive a call back from said number, I was unable to actually speak with Bun about the situation. I did ask him via email if he had spoken to the people at HHNLive and he said that he had, so I have no doubt that it was in fact Bun B that contacted me.

Video: Nas BET Interview

Monday, November 27th, 2006

One of the dudes from OnSmash who makes my job that much easier just informed me that Jay-Z/UGK performance on 106th and Jay actually was broadcast, but only on the West Coast. I’m not sure why the rest of the country missed it, maybe they had technical issues, but somebody should let Bun B know before BET Little Brothers him and Pimp C. The Nas interview above was also cut from the initial broadcast. You gotta love how the Little Homey mentions Black Republicans like we haven’t all heard it already.

We can just get along

Can blackface be far behind?

In case you haven’t heard, the NYPD is at it again. This story is tragic and my heart goes out to dudes family and fiance, but really New Yorkers, what should we expect if we keep putting up with this type of shit? Have a racist trigger happy cop problem in your neighborhood? I bet a refrigerator (the stainless steel joint) thrown off a roof would help even the odds up a bit.

Jay On Pace To Crack 800K

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

jay-denzel-106.jpg

Yeah yeah, another fucking Jay-Z post. I know, I’m a stan, Def Jam secretly owns Nah Right…whatever man. I guess I’m supposed to ignore news like this:

From HitsDailyDouble’s one day sales report:

He’s everywhere…and by next Tuesday, Jay-Z’ll make himself at home on top of the album chart, too.

Riding the wave of Black Friday and holiday dollars, the rapper looks headed for the year’s best debut week total of the year for his Kingdom Come-back on Def Jam, with our national network of retailers estimating a sales total of 850k, which will soundly defeat the previous high, Rascal Flatts’ 714k last April.

This website tends to be off by a few thousand when the actual Soundscans come in so I would say give or take 10 thousand up or down. Either way it’ll be the biggest debut, hip hop or otherwise, yet this year. I guess this means New York hip hop is back?

Disclaimer: Of course, as well all know, sales are irrelevant when discussing music.
