… after listening to cd’s all weekend, it has come to my conclusion that “Gangster and a Gentleman” is one of the best hiphop lp’s ever made … none of the songs sound dated except, (I Get High) … Styles has one of the best balances of slick talk, crack rhymes and introspective narratives, of any mc in the game … he doesnt overdo the crack rhymes and tough talk, and he’s not so conscious as to come off preachy …

The thing about Saigon which separates him from most other rappers, is that he embodies pain and struggle. This is something that is rare with new rappers, and I haven’t really seen it since 2pac passed. If you go back and look at Saigon’s earlier mixtape shit, or even the one he recently put out - the Abandoned Nation one with Whoo Kid - he feels like a politically driven/conscious rapper who has so much to say.

Anyway, these 2 new tracks are a disappointment. I think Saigon’s capable of a lot more. It’s nothing like “True Story” or “Breathe Through The Years”…
