billz im talking about his flow, have you heard the album
^ No. After Make It Rain, I was assuming that song pretty much set the tone for the what the rest of the album is gonna sound like. If you happen to have a copy of it then you can send it to my inbox. And is the flow accompanied by any decent lyrics?

-Mainstream hiphop needs more Premo!!! He’s in much higher demand from underground artists. Mainstream gotta reach out more. Him and Nas have definitely been in the studio recently. That’s a fact!! Hopefully that shit shows up some time soon!!

Smh @ people sayin’ Game “flopped”. Of course he aint gonna do a mil in the week. Game is a shit talker and it’s obvious that everybody’s buyin’ it… 380,000 to be exact.
I remember the story about that hip hop cop. It’s other cops out there cuttin’ deals with dealers on the low. But robbin’ ‘em is obviously a lot more blatant and will get you numbers in the box.
Of course they would be unveiling that Dilla fitted on Black Friday. The designed coulda been a lil’ more elaborate but it’s still worth the cop.
The way Premier described that Christina record almost makes me wanna d/l the singles to listen to ‘em. And I’m glad that he has dedicated his career to keepin’ hip hop in pure form… “the sun rises on the East”
Snoop on Rap City: “CRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIPIN!”. Might just pick up Snoop’s album along with Jay’s on Friday. Soundin’ like the old Snoop on that freestyle.
I’m feelin’ that Questlove interview. People fail to understand that the Roots signing to Def Jam wasn’t a way to break the bank and make millions. It was simply a way for a bonafide hip hop group to have a hip hop label backin’ them. They didn’t sacrifice anything to be a part of Def Jam and in the end will benefit from havin’ the likes of The Carter Administration exec. producing the album. And how many people can say they bought their parents their dream house? And with no platinum album? Sheeeeeeeiiit… I’ll trade places with any one of them any day of the week. But, alas, you’ll have ig’nant and young ass hip hop fans sayin’ shit like, “they’re broke”. Meanwhile their favorite rapper drivin’ around in recoupable vehicles. Shits disgustin’ b.
Lupe and Jay in the same GQ… pretty ill. Hopefully I’ll be back in home in time enough to catch him on Letterman.
Don’t Larry Davis already got a dvd out? I’ll have to check HHN later.

^ Lol… “God’s Son across the belly”… but nah, I got some ill joints with the skulls formed in a hectagon shape that I rock with a Billabong shirt, and nobody has ever popped slick in my direction. Maybe because it’s a cultural norm here for the urban youth. My pair is exclusive but I probably won’t wear them anymore because too many off-brands in my city got ‘em. But on the realz, it depends on where you’re at. If you’re in the Bay Area it’s normal out there so even the so-called “tough guys” will probably have on a pair. Contrast to being in, ohhhh, lets say Newark, NJ with a pair on. Then you’ll get your gangsta tested, and you might fail that test. But that goes for anyone who does somethin’ that’s outside the boundaries of the social norm for their demographic.

well not for nothing, but the black community co-signs bullshit (see the former UPN). niggas don’t watch and co-sign quality television and so we end up with coonery, basically like what happens in the music industry. plus, and I’m pretty sure we all know this, we are the minority in this country. there are demographically more white people here than black people so of course the majority of television, movies, etc are gonna reflect them and cater to what they wanna see. I’m not co-signing the ratio of white people to minorities on tv (although it has gotten alot better in the last 2 years or so) I’m just telling you why that is.

Land, whatever you gotta do. we all know them crackers ain’t playing fair anyway. I just think that its not worth crying over. there are all white shows and all black shows and shows that are diverse. all of them reflect somebody’s reality.
November 22nd, 2006 at 1:40 pm
I think I can see where Land and Es is coming from…
I comprehend Es’ point of view because I think that it’s unfair that we hold a standard to them that we also don’t practice. Seinfield was created by white writers and ultimately a white audience. You have to remember that sitcoms rarely depict the “realities” of life and that they are used as an exaggeration to what really goes on. I resided in Harlem for a brief period and can honestly say that it is segrated based on race and class depending on where you are. The homie Shawn Lee (DP’z) is a Lower East resident where there are mostly Ricans and Blacks. And then of course there’s the Upper East/West Sides that are predominiately white (not sure where the Seinfield show was supposed to be located). Then of course there’s Midtown, SoHo/NoHo, and other places there are predominately white until you head further Uptown of course. Ask yourself, how often would you see Blacks congregating with whites in certain areas of Manhattan? Unless they are part of that social class (i.e. co-workers, “Friends”) then it’s not nearly as common. Black and whites do co-exist in Manhattan but just on a different schedule. It wouldn’t be authentic to me to have a show based in Harlem that depicted characters of Anglo Saxon origin. Even with gentrification, whites aren’t the common norm in that area or culture. Therefore, Seinfield, IMO, was a premise for the people who could relate to it.
On the other hand, I can understand where Land is coming from. Being that we are the oppressed, anytime a Black person/people pop up on a Black show then it is “just due”. For years they successfully excluded us from any part of their civilization while we were the ones in the background keeping it functional. I’m not sayin’ that they must include us in their shows as second class citizens just for the sake of pleasing Black people. But it is obvious to me that when shows of substantial relevance are created we are automatically excluded from the format. Once again, we are only allowed to sing, dance, and make whitey laugh because that’s all we’re good for according to white writers, producers, corporate conglomerates. Even the UPN (U Pick a Nigga) (c) Mooney shows had whites included in the plots when they weren’t needed. Alas, we still allowed white people to find work in Hollywood when that could have easily been a position filled by one of our own. Cedric the Entertainer brought this to light in his most recent comedy special. For instance, most of us don’t even know that Girlfriends is in it’s last season. Yet, shows like Friends and SITC get special tributes and farewell episodes. Cedric also mentioned that any drama show that Black writers and producers create always have to have a downplayed, sad Negro, church theme with atypical topics for the show. I admit that recent shows have included minorities and they are finally attempting to include us with social relevance. But lets also not ignore the fact that we will always be considered second class citizens in a country where our population is even second to Hispanics now (no offense to anyone of Latin origin). Though it’s WRONG, I also revel in my biased ways when it’s our turn to turn the tables. But these feelings can only be justified through the constant negligance and disregard for my people as a whole when referring to ANYTHING that includes us in the prosperity of Amerikkka.
In conclusion, I think that we need to take more control of the type of programs are being displayed and support more of the positive roles. TvOne is doing a good job of representing us in a more refined way and it’s definitely appreciated. Meanwhile, we need to make our presence known and voice heard at in front of these corporate execs so that we can continue to be relevant to society as a whole.

well said Billz, although I wonder when the last time you were in Harlem was if you think whitey ain’t running that shit…
^ I resided there in ’03, but even then I could see the change. The day my peoples came through to help me move out was when I saw a white couple moving into a new brownstone. Then the H&M popped up and I was like, yeah, it’s a wrap. Plus they were renovating the building I was living in on 133rd while residents were still in it. But my point was, being that it’s still considered the “Black” part of Manhattan, I doubt we would see a white person in a show created by Black people based in Harlem. But of course, all that is gonna change. I hate to see a Black neighborhood like Harlem get gentrified, it hurts my heart. But when you do the history, whites lived there before the Renaissance.
History, eventually, will repeat itself…

I’m a white dude.
I don’t listen to any music besides hip hop.
I have friends that are white, black, asian, indian, whatever. My girl is a minority.
I’ve never been a part of any “establishment”, so I haven’t had any chance to exert any form of racism against anyone.
Reading these comments, it makes me sick to think that one day, a black dude might take an opportunity to deny me of something (a job) because I’m white and I ‘have it coming to me’ because he ‘revels in the chance to return racism.’
Right now… I smh at the people like this, just like I do when I hear my old relatives make racist remarks.

Konvicted would have been really tight if Akon listened to it before releasing the album. He’s voice get really annoying as you listen to the CD on your way to the 23rd track. However, i’ll give it to him for preety much turning “almost” all the songs on the album to a ‘hot” (by todays standards) single.

^ I understand your point of view and respect it. But understand that Blacks will always be the minority and we have to help one another at all cause. Denying you a job doesn’t mean that we have somethin’ against you in particular, it just means that we would rather reserve it for one of our own because we know the odds are against us. Besides, no one calls it racist when a Asian, Jew, Indian, or any other minority group hires their own and decides to keep the wealth within the confides of the family. Any white person who doesn’t take advantage of the monopoly that society has set up for them is a fool, because any other race would. Do you think I would get hired, a Black man, in a sneaker store in Japan? Chances are highly unlikely. Perhaps the scale is different if we’re referring to a more established business, say BET for example, who has made hundreds of millions in revenue and can “afford” to hire outside of the color spectrum since it isn’t gonna affect the establishment as a whole. Any major establishment that is owned/run by white people that hires Blacks have already acquired enough money in status in society that hiring Blacks (and meeting quota) isn’t gonna affect their business as whole.
Minority scholarships are given to whites to attend HBCU’s all the time. Yet, I’ve never heard of Black man/woman getting accepted to a Ivy League school based on being a “minority”. And furthermore, our grades have to be far beyond excellent while the kids of rich white men are accepted without questioning (i.e. George Bush).
You have to accept the fact that as long as we only make up a small percentage of this country, then we have to help one another to even reach minimal success and eventually become a force where we can stand on our own.

[...] Link (via) How did the Christina Aguilera project happen? We got a call from her office saying that she wanted to rock with us. She flew us out to LA to kick it, and when I chopped it up with her, she was like, “Yo, I love ‘Kick in the Door’ by Biggie, I love Group Home.†I was like, “Word? So, we’re gonna be aight. Let’s do it.†And her husband is a big, big hip-hop fan. He’s a DJ. So I’m sure he had a lot of influence on her, but she was totally with all of my ideas and she knew what she wanted. Every track that we laid down, she was like, “Keep recordin’.†I was supposed to just do one song, it turned into five. And I did the intro to the album. I was honored that she was like, “You’re gonna start the album with a dope intro.†There’s crazy scratching and everything, but not where it’s a hip-hop intro, it’s a Christina Aguilera intro. I kept it like what I do. It’s cool how it starts off because it goes into three different parts before she actually comes on to sing, and then it cuts off after one verse—boom—into another song. It’s dope. [...]
