Escobar Season
Nas stans are probably going to want to go read this rundown of 5 tracks from Hip Hop Is Dead that YN posted earlier today. Fucking guy. He’s mastered the art of internet rap geek torture, and you can bet he loves every minute of it:
OK. Here’s the kicker boys and girls: Nas and Game together on a Dr. Dre track. I repeat: Nas and Game together on a Dr. Dre track. That’s right, rap scholars: Game can’t get a Dre beat for his album but he’s on one on Nas’ LP. Might be last time we ever hear Game on an official Dre beat. Surprisingly, Jones and Taylor are a good combination.
Then he goes on to casually mention how he likes the Game/Nas collab from Doctor’s Advocate better. For crying out loud. Something needs to leak soon, this 4th quarter waiting game is particularly tedious this year. That 4 month early Lupe leak was cool and all, but the thrill is gone.
*Fun fact: There are 3 Jay/Nas songs in existence right now as we speak.

^^Man, good music drops every week playa! Most of you katz are caught up in a small box when it comes to music, so it seems like nothing good ever comes out. Albums from J-Dilla, Kenn Starr, Kev Brown, De La Soul, The Strange Fruit Project, Mr. Lif, Planet Asia, The Boot Camp Clik, Tanya Morgan, etc. were dope just in 2006…and that’s just in hiphop. If you don’t wanna kopp the whole album, go to itunes and pay for the joints you like.

You’re wrong about Takeover chief. It was full of opinions!!!
-Jay saying the World is Yours is not a hot song…that’s his opinion
-Nas fell off….that’s his opinion. Many people feel differently
- And when Jay said Nas been in the game 10 years, and him 5. That’s a bullshit lie straight up!!!! They both came in the game around 91, Jay maybe earlier when he was running with Jaz. The only difference is that Nas got a record deal earlier, while Jay struggled to get one.

You didn’t hear that because we were discussing Jay & Nas unless I’m missing something……You do remember me saying “Anyone” ….I didn’t know people were saying Nas won on some “oh shit he that shit was foul Jay said”….with out a doubt everyone is going to have their own opinion…..mine is Jay can hold his own on a Mic – the cat can make a good song but ultimately when I’m looking for some creativity I’m looking in the Bridge…..

BUT WHY IS IT ONLY FOUL IN JAY’S CASE. HE DIDNT THREATHEN THE CHILD HE JUST TALKED ABOUT WHERE THAT CHILD SAT HER ASS.
AND I DIDNT SAY PEOPLE SAID NAS WON CAUSE JAY CROSSED THE LINE, I MEANT PEOPLE SAY THINGS LIKE THIS
* yeah but if you look at the history of a battle it wasnt to dig up facts about a rapper, but to look at the person your battling and make him look like an ass, which is what Nas did *
OK WELL THAT LINE MADE NAS LOOK LIKE AN ASS A DAMN FOOL THAT LINE WAS HARDER THAN ANYTHING NAS MADE UP AND IT DIDNT HARM ANYONE OR THREATEN ANYONE THATS WHAT I WAS SAYING

>>I hear that, but I know you know the get around to all of that mess, right? Just burn a CD using the itunes software, then save it back on your computer in a media friendly and usable format to do whatever you please. It takes a minute, but it works.
you can’t be serious. I’m gonna pay for something and then go through all that to be able to use it the way I want to?
I’m good, I’ll just download pre-ripped, non-DRM, free of charge mp3’s thank you very much.
^^Itunes does provide that hard to find overseas shyt the you can’t find in the states, and that is really where it has the advantage, but other than that…its’ useless. I like my music in usable formats too, plus you can’t beat FREE with a leather strap!

^ true
At the end of the day though both are two of the best to ever do it. It just seems that expectations for Nas have always been higher. Everyone has been criticized for falling off though…
-Big Daddy Kane had a short run
-Rakim’s had a short run in my opinion
- Pun before he died could barely breathe between his lines and his second album was no where near Capital Punishment
-Em fell off on Encore
-Mos Def has been off for the last few years with his shit
Nas just seems to get ridiculed the hardest

G7 – WHAT YOUR SAYING IS TRUE BUT THATS CAUSE NAS IS ALWAYS BEING COMAPRED TO JAY-Z. AND WHILE REASONABLE DOUBT PROBABLY WAS HIS BEST WORK MOST OF US DIDNT FIGURE THAT OUT RIGHT AWAY JAY-Z GREW ON US AND IMPRESSED US MORE AND MORE BLACK ALBUM MAY NOT BE AS GOOD AS RD BUT ITS DAMN CLOSE AND MUCH CLOSER THAN ANYTHING ELSE OF NAS’S IS TO ILLMATIC. FACT IS NAS DID FALL OFF AND DIDNT MEET MANY OF OUR STADARDS, IVE SAID IT A HUNDREDS TIMES NAS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES WHEN HE BRINGS IT BUT DUDE LETS ME DOWN MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE ( THAT SHOULD BE LOOK AT WITH RESPECT CAUSE THAT MEANS I EXPECT GREAT THINGS FROM HIM )
AGAIN EVERYWHERE THAT JAY GOES HE SEEMS TO GET BIGGER AND STRONGER AND HIS “LEGEND STATUS ” IN HIP-HOP GROWS, HOPEFULLY NOW HE CAN MOVE FORWARD BUT IT WOULD BE THE FIRST FORWARD STEP FOR NAS IN YEARS

Like I mentioned earlier Vol 1,2, and 3 are virtually the same album. Jay didn’t take any chances at all musically. In his whole catalogue I can only think of two of his songs with really creative concepts, 22 2′s and Meet the Parents. The rest is the same, hustling experiences or braggin’ about how nice he is and what he has. On top of that he dumbed down like no other with someone of his talent.
Jay stayed using the same formula every album. And he seems to be at his best when he’s bragging about himself. Just take a look at the Jay verses people post on here. It’s always a verse of Jay bragging about something. Black Album was the first album maybe where he actually changed it up a bit. He’s witty as hell, but his song creativity lacks.

WONT ARGUE ABOUT ANY OF THAT BUT I THINK PEOPLE ASSUME NAS HAS HUNDREDS OFF SONGS OFF MEET THE PARENTS OR 22 2′S CALIBER AND HE DOESNT.
I DEFINTELY AGREE WITH YOU ON THE VOL. 1,2,3, BUT BLUEPRINT AND BLACK ALBUM ARE EASILY 1 AND 2 IN HIS CATALOG NAS ALBUMS GOT PROGRESSIVLEY WORSE AS THEY GO.
ALSO I WONT DENY THAT JAY IS AT HIS BEST WHEN BRAGGING ABOUT HIMSELF BUT I ENJOY LISTENING TO THE SWAG AND THE FACT THAT NAS HAS ABOSLUTELY NO SWAG NO CHARISMA REALLY HURTS HIM, SO ON ONE HAND YOU GOT AN M.C. WHO IS BETTER AND ONE THING AND ANOTHER WHO IS BETTER AT SOMETHING DIFFERENT BUT JAY IS BETTER AT THE INTROSPECTIVE SHIT THAN NAS IS CHARSMIATIC

MEET THE PARENTS > REWIND
AND SERIOUSLY THATS NOT EVEN DEBATEABLE IS IT ? I FUCKED WITH REWIND AT FIRST DEFINTELY DOESNT HAVE THE SAME REPLAY VALUE AND SHIT
3 SIDES TO A STORY > MEET THE PARENTS > REWIND
DOES THAT MEAN BUDDENS IS A BETTER M.C. THAN NAS AND JAY NO OF COURSE NOT, WELL NOT YET ATLEAST WE NEED SOMEONE TO LET HIM PUT AN ALBUM OUT FIRST

he does doesn’t he? I kid the little homey cuz well…he’s the Little Homey.
Weird Al > Nas

I dont listen to music to check out another dudes swagger….I listen for lyrical content…..and again yes J has skillz he does make hot songs….but in my opinion son leaves alot left to be desired on the creative stick.
October 6th, 2006 at 1:11 pm
^co-sign Dunn for the comment at 12:58…lol.
It’s a matter of preference but I like Rewind over Meet the Preference and Nas does have other songs of that caliber that are better in my opinion.
As far as Blueprint. That album is excellent but has too many filler joints on it. The good joints on there are fire though. Black Album just didn’t move me. I had a lot higher expectations for that album and for me they came up short. I expect a lot from Jay. He is one of my all-time favourites.
And as far as Nas’ albums getting worse. I’m not too sure about that. God’s Son was Rolling Stones Magazine’s hiphop album of the year. The same year the BluePrint 2 was released.

______
G7 your wrong and i think you need to go back and listen to Vol.1 and RD. i will agree with Vol.2-3 though
Reasonable Doubt – 22 2′s, regrets, feelin it…3 creative songs
Vol 1. – heart of the city, lucky me, you must love me
The Dynasty – soon you’ll understand
and from then on im sure you know the rest
come on man guns and roses, meet the parents, hov is very creative if you check for his creativeness…but if all you wanna see is the money and all that other shit its easy to over look the other side of jay, which i will be the first to admit i think we are gonna get alot more on kingdom come. i think hov fans are gonna be dissapointed because they want the old hov, but hov aint the old hov, hes grown up. i think hes gonna put more artistic heartfelt songs on this album, just because hes matured. and that creative list will grow when we hear kingdom come
have you heard the verse on that trey songz remix? crazy

@QDot
I haven’t heard his verse on Trey Songz track. I’ll download it when I go home.
And you’re right about some being disappointed about Hov not being the old Hov. He said himself its gonna be like the Black Album. It will be more mature and creative. I believe that.
When I mentioned Vol 1,2, and 3 being the same I left out RD cuz that’s a stand out classic!!! On Vol1 you can see where he was headed in terms of hitting the mainstream. Some of the songs on it I wasn’t happy with, but there are some gems on it as you mentioned.
October 6th, 2006 at 2:11 pm
i will agree that vol.1 did have some tracks that let me down but i think that stands on its own also…vol.1 i would say is on the level of it was written, and as a sophomore album he did his thing…unlike alot of hip hop artist that kinda fall off… i just hate when people say vol.1 was garbage or put it on the same level as 2 and 3.

October 6th, 2006 at 2:34 pm
Nah I dont agree with that…but what I meant was telling me about you and what you drive and how you drive it…
7 songs – Same format – REWORDED…..
It might just be me – I need more than that….ok yeah 22 2′s was cute and thoughtful…ok now what else you got for me

aight I’ll check it out….
Jay was not allowed in my lab from 2001 to early this yr…with one exception of RD……thats it….I think my son had something on the low but I’m not sure…..
October 6th, 2006 at 10:17 pm
Those have to be the worst fitting jeans I’ve seen in 8 years. Nas is one of the worst dressed rappers ever (well, anyone from Queens is actually) Atleast Jay knew he had no style and bite off Kanye and hired a stylist when Kanye wasnt around.. “Smarten up Nas”
October 6th, 2006 at 10:19 pm
“Vol 1,2, and 3 are practically the same CD with very little difference. Same content on all three. And Jay never topped Reasonable Doubt”
Blueprint came pretty close if not surpassed.
October 7th, 2006 at 6:09 pm
if you listen to take over and etheir you will see nas kill jay on is own shit. some phrase nas , like eminem did to jay
end of the story. but boys are kool now all i can say that jay was a little bit scare of nas then.
