Nas And Kelis Reality Show?
The Post had a mention today in the ‘Sightings’ section of Page Six about The Little Homey and The Boss shooting some sort of reality show:
. . . KELIS and hubby Nas filming an episode of their new reality show over Peking duck and lobster egg rolls at Buddakan.
That’s the first I’m hearing of such a show. Of course it’s the Post so it could definitely be wrong. It would make sense though, seeing as LH got his album pushed back in favor of a far more lucrative project.

I’ve been hearing from some sources that Mr. West wants off of Def Jam pretty badly. Supposedly he’s told folks that Def Jam doesn’t give him full creative control of his LPs. And y’all know Kanye aint havin’ that. I heard Def wasn’t going to let “Crack Music” make the cut originally, but Kanye had to sweat them to get it on. It seems like everybody these days wants off — or is getting kicked off — of Def Jam. What’s really good with the label?
i guess Def Jam wont be pushing any more units, unless NaS drops. Jeezy won’t go platinum again, and if Kanye’s gone… goodbye Jigga’s retirement fund

Ionno where to begin on this reality show thing. I don’t want to believe it, cuz I don’t think it would be that good. Nas is my favorite MC, but he’s got that calm and collected persona; he can’t make a reality show live, and I wouldn’t expect him too. I’m sure wild shit happens in his life, but not enough to keep me watching aside from the fact that Nas & Kelis would be on the screen.
Kelis is a wild one, but I don’t think she would be that interesting to watch either. Nas is the typa man you would think would be against such narcissitic displays of importance and assumed-interest.

yall are wilding. it wasn’t anything special but to me you can hear in that verse that Jay still got it. at the same time though, you can tell that he didn’t put a whole lot of effort into it.
but personally I wasn’t dissapointed by that verse at all. honestly I don’t even pay attention to Lupe’s two verses, cuz I thought the original verses were better.

All non-hip hop related stuff aside Nas’ is the greater hip hop rapper. Jay-z is the more inteligent business savy one of the two. But hands down Nas gave birth to what the post 80′s MC should be lyrically. Props to biggie, but nas came out first. Even Jay-Z new this. Jay even said that Nas was the greatest MC in that line. Jay has been changing up his style year after year and no doubt it was hot. But know that he has a strangle hold on hip hop he’s trying to change history and make everybody forgot who really ran shit in the golden era of hip hop. It was Nas, Biggie, and the Death Row movement. Yea Jay’s on top now, but that’s like the equvilant to Lennix Louis being the heavy weight champion, in a division that was 20 years past it’s prime.
in 10 years people ain’t going to be bumpin’ Jay-Z because he just makes music thats hot right now. Nas Biggie and Pac’s music is still going to be playing 20 years from now.

damn, i picked the wrong day to quit piffin. this motherfucker should be thankin his lucky stars that he’s not in a wheel chair right now.
anyway, all you mafuckas sayin jay don’t get a reaction as big as nas are buggin. i was at summerjam two years ago and jay made a secret appearance. as soon as i saw him, i started chanting “HOVA, HOVA, HOVA”. seconds later 60,000 people at giants stadium are all chanting the same thing. i couldn’t believe that i actually started the chant, but it was more bugged out when i looked behind me to see what he was seein and the shit was amazing. to see 60,000 people screamin your name like your the second coming was ridiculous. nas couldn’t get half of a high school auditorium to chant his name.

its all good paperstacker I am is not bad and stillmatic was cool too. the joint with olu is bananas Blaze a fifty is one of my favorites of all time. Me and my peeps always said jay must have made a deal with somebody evil to obtain the reign he has. but boy has he made some bangers in the meantime. I think his only classic albums are RD and Blueprint. Maybe Black but it slips in parts at least beatwise. but his club bangers are witty and incredible enuff. Big Pimpin? You want lyrics? shit he murders. And its not easy making I just wanna love you. While its one of the Neptunes better bangers from that time his voice adlibs Hov! make that song incredible. the bite and flip of bigs lyrics its about to go down Ive been djing ten plus years and its the benjamins and then I just wanna love you. Please what does Nas have? made you look?

mc=move the crowd, but not necessarily in the literal sense,…you can move mentally and provoke thoughts, for real niggas who aint into to bouncing off walls and too cool to do anything but bop, the word mc has a whole different meaning
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:42 pm
what is smh?
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:43 pm
aight cool, but I don’t bump an MC based on if he can move a crowd or not. I bump the dude because I feel ‘em. Some MC’s just do it for you. It don’t matter how many records they sell or who they fuckin’ or what clothing line they got. Examples, Scarface, 2pac, 2short, Nas. These dudes you feel speak to you and you can relate to what they’re saying. And then they’re some MC’s that just relate to TOO many people. Like I don’t like it when my little niece nows who I’m bumpin. Like I don’t want to see my favorite artist on TRL. Jay-Z weither you like it or not is POP, he makes music for the charts he don’t make music for you. I admit i’m basis, I don’t like Jay-Z personally. Shit he’s got skills for days but there’s just something about, he seems like a snob, like if I asked him to sign my jersey he’d be like “im 30+ I’d don’t do jerseys”. So a Nas album or any MC’s I mentioned before hand can stay on repeat cause that shit don’t get old. And that is why I perfer Nas over Jay-Z. Thank ya kindly.
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:46 pm
illmatic + it was written + stillmatic > reasonable doubt + blue print + black album

mc=move the crowd, but not necessarily in the literal sense,…you can move mentally and provoke thoughts, for real niggas who aint into to bouncing off walls and too cool to do anything but bop, the word mc has a whole different meaning
this is true and I mess with Nas and Kass for that. But Hip Hop started and will end in the clubs or party or whatever and you have to rock the masses. Especially if that is your aim to change the mass mindset through the mass media. If you wanna be independent and move a few than thats cool if not then you need to step your rap game up and learn how to move the crowd. Perfect example Loves gonna getcha or hey young world or even wake up brand nubian all bangers that get club play to this day and move the mind and the body. smartenupnas. If I ruled the world and I can are bothe great examples. and Jay dont move your mind? man I never moved no coke but dead presidents 2? I want money like cosby? who wouldnt? its this type of talk….if your crew is rich your crew is rugged? that way nobody could fall?
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:49 pm
^I think it all depends on “your” state of mind, and your life style…If your a happy go lucky dude and all I care about is partying, chicks and keeping up with whats the new trend, you might prefer Jays lyrics, but on the other hand if your a dude whos socially aware and wants to make changes for your people, and just loves pure b-boy hip hop then yea you might lean toward Nas.
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:49 pm

What is jay gonna talk about other than how he is better then everyone else or maybe hermes, fendi, and other womens clothing designers, or how he sold drugs 20 years ago. Nas is gonna break it down to that basic Philosophy shit. He gonna give you a status on what he feels the state of America, the world for that matter. Thats what makes an album stay on repeat, where you actually interested in what this dude has got to say.

Jay vs Nas round # 2375
since both of their last albums came out, Jay ain’t seeing Nas plain and simple. All of Jay’s verses over the last little while is just pure flossin’!! He might as well be a spokesperson for the American Dental Association. All of Nas’ verses this year are killing Jay’s and he’s coming with way better creativity and substance. Lately, its not even close.
And for those that think Jay’s verse on Hustlin’ and Pressure was hot, if you were a true fan you’d expect much more from him. He’s talking the same shit he did on Vol1. Stans will say that shit is hot cuz they’re delusional and lack the ability to criticize who they idolize.
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:59 pm
I might actually turn bad behavior off coldplay. too many people are complaining about not being able to comment.

Eskay, what has Jay spat lately with some substance?? 44 4′s was creative but too bad he did that back in 96 on RD. And don’t worry. I don’t skim through the music. I get my money’s worth breddren. Jay’s verses lately have been mega weak by his standards. I’m a fan, not a stan. I just hope he’s been playing possum on all his features lately.

Being one of the first artists to come out against the war, at a time when it still got you censored (at least on the shitty DC/Baltimore stations) > any vauge, faux-intellectual, political statement ever made by Nas. And that’s undeniable.
I still can’t stop laughing at “your comrade Nas” rocking a chain while claiming to be a communist. If rap was Animal Farm, Nas would be in the barn with Squealer learning how to walk on two legs.

by the way I’ve bought every Jay album with my hard earned money so no one here can claim that I’m a Nas stan. I just think Jay gets too much props. That’s all. Musically I think Nas is better, everything else Jay can have.

^^ yup. And If “I am” wasn’t bootlegged so heavily it would have came out even better. Cuz of the bootlegging his label had him put out Nastradmus in the same year. That album is not as bad as people say. People just remember “You Owe Me” and say its trash.

“sour real talk, what is it about jay that you like n/h”
on the real, i do got respect for nas, just love the jay > nas battles. but i grew up on jay. i can match any album he made to a moment in my life. on top of that, he always comes raw (pause). i gotta admit i fell off a little when i heard me & my girlfriend, but the rest of the album was ill. He always stayed true. yeah he would come through with a pop song here and there, but the substance was still in the music. i haven’t gone a moment since i got my license without having a jay tape/cd in my whip. I might burn illmatic once a year to reminisce. i honestly feel that nas fell off. he got lost in trying to find a way to come with real music and make sellable music and failed horribly at both. i was truly angry with him for lettin us down.

Im listening to jays collection, and the nigga only has 4 classics…
Reasonable Doubt

Blueprint
Black Album

He did cross over on that, and tried on Vol1. Vol2 is one of my favourites though. There’s only a couple of tracks that I skip on that one.

October 3rd, 2006 at 8:17 pm
@Paperstacker,
the Black Album comes up short for me. I prefer vol2. I guess the expecations for the Black Album were so high and it didn’t really live up to it. With Vol2 no one really expected that album to take off the way it did. The hard tracks on Vol.2 are ill!! imo

[...] Around this time last year, we were hearing rumblings of Nas and Kelis taping footage for their ‘reality’ show… not that there is any reality to those kind of shows, on MTV or to their lives. You would think that NaS would be able to fake a happy and exciting marriage with his wife… seeing that he’s been perpetuating this lie that he’s a good rapper. Guess again: Nas and Kelis were set to air their new Reality show on MTV but it seems MTV pulled the plug on the show before it even aired! A little bird whispered to me that the show was very dull and not worth airing! Guess Mr and Ms Jones aren’t as interesting as we thought. [...]

[...] Shouts to Wes for the heads up. We all know Nas can’t perform for the life of him, but when he tried performing Surviving the Times, he either forgot the words or still didn’t have them down by heart. I don’t blame him, I slept through that whole song too. What’s amazing and must be mad flattering to the Little Homey that his little homey remembered the words to it, already. That’s a shame… your mind was a beautiful thing waste. He then performs Eye for an Eye, and not Verbal Intercourse as Wes mentions in the Youtube description. S’all good, I like that verse although Verbal Intercourse is one of my favorite Nas verses and definitely one of my favorite joints on OB4CL. He did manage to slip in a 50 Cent diss into his Made You Look interpretation. Nah I’m just kidding, all the songs above are some of my favorite Nas songs, but you can’t deny Nas’ inability to move a crowd. If anything, it’s people’s attachment’s to the songs that make the concerts worth going to. [...]
