From here on out, this site will be referred to as "Nah Right, Award Winning Hip Hop Blog."
As you can see from the two buttons over in my sidebar, Nah Right has won both Best Hip Hop Blog, and Blog To Watch at the 2006 Black Weblog Awards. First off, I’d like to thank everybody who voted for me and my extremely loyal daily visitors. Without these people, I’d just be a guy talking shit about hip hop on a website (whereas now I’m an award winning guy talking shit about hip hop on a website).
I’d also like to thank my co-defendants fellow nominees, Fresh and Angel La of C&D and Concrete Loop respectively, for so graciously encouraging their much larger readerships to vote for me in the Hip Hop category. Saying that I couldn’t have done it without ya’ll would be a huge understatement.
I can honestly say that I didn’t even consider myself a serious contender for Blog To Watch, so that win was a nice surprise. Congratulations to all the other winners and finalists, especially Dallaspenn.com who should’ve won Best Writing in a Blog, whether they wanted the award or not.

yo i gotta say, Concrete Loop’s layout is a mess. Nah Right isn’t any glamour and all hollywood shit, it’s simple and gets down to business, that’s why it’s the block. Nah Right is 10x easier to read than the Loop. all those graphics and shit confuse me. i cant even see where the posts are.

Idlewild was the shit Ty. Even though there were a couple of parts that I predicted would happen when watching it, it didn’t really take away from my experience watching the movie. I really enjoyed the musical scenes, even Dre’s singing which I think some people believe took away from the movie. The movie somehow intertwined a liquor/whore house during the prohibition era with hip hop (only Big Boi was rapper/entertainer) and it worked. Worked well as a matter of fact. Big Boi had so much charisma on screen. Plus the dialogue, the southern dialects (this was important to me because Lauren London (New-New) had the worst southern dialect ever in ATL and it really bothered me), the way the characters and the camera handled certain emotions and situations was all on point. There’s one scene at the end where Dre is laying in the bed and everything about the scene is so perfect. Keep in mind though that its somewhat of a musical and with that comes a magical sense that takes away from the “reality” of the movie. The movie is about more than just music though. There’s some gangsta shit, a love story, a follow your dream story, and a lil more too. One more thing to keep in mind…I am a female soooo…not sure if we like the same types of movies. I definitely think you should go see it though.
