Meanwhile, I haven’t heard a peep from Mr. Carter except for a verse with a collabo with wifey and another with the Southern, suck-ass version of the Supreme Team, Rick and Jeezy. But on a lighter note, Pap doing tracks with Dre and Premier is soundin’ like some classic material. I hope he utilizes that budget the right way. I think he should get some cats like Ron Browz, Needlz, Bink, and Boola to really get that gritty, East feelin’ for it. We’ll see though.

That was a good piece on Sadat. I didn’t know he was critically acclaimed that much. Especially since most people would pick Puba or Jamal as the better lyricist. That Ghost and Trife song is dope. Is that X’s voice sampled for the chorus? It definitely sounds like it. I think Trife had the better verse on this song though. And he definitely had some memorable verses on Fish Scale. He need to put out one of those mixtape albums like everyone else is doing now.
I guess verses are harder to come by when Christopher Rios isn’t around to supply the work anymore, huh? Then he tried to amp it by reciting some shit that really wasn’t fire. And judging from his wackest Prince Nasim impression, he need to drop some pounds if he’s tryin’ to catch somebody with that slow ass jab. And that song he’s supposed to be writing to… the beat is nice but Game’s verse sounds like trash from the little bit that I heard. Oh well, lets see if the One Blood/Used To Be Crip can live up to the hype.

^ I co-sign all of that. But hey, after coppin’ the Don Cartagena album and listening to the ones after it, I can’t really grasp the “legendary” ideal. I mean, even Mobb Deep stayed consistent until their most recent album. Well, they still did, but they just had suck-ass concepts and beats. Joe went from spittin’ ill verses to just make some pop shit that sounded horrrrrible. It’s obvious that Pun influenced (read: wrote) many of his rhymes before he passed and you just can’t deny that. I’m not sayin’ he’s terrible but it’s hard to bump DC all the way through and then listen to J.O.S.E. and that one’s after it. His latest album isn’t bad from the singles that I’ve heard (except for that Nelly shit and I wish I could just erase that from my memory). You would be playin’ yourself if you can’t admit that Joe lost a few steps since the passin’ of Pun. “Lean Back” only survived on the strength of Scott Storch. Lets just be rational for a minute.
