I gotta say that I been feeling this song for a minute. It’s been in the cd changer since es posted it. But this thought entered my mind last week, Isn’t he supposed to drop this month? I’m fiendin for some new shit, and I really hope he doesn’t dissapoint with garbage like that neptunes joint he put out.
Also, anyone check that Serius Jones? Shit is so fuckin hot, I can’t stop bumpin it and I still don’t think I heard the whole thing.

that robot shit is kinda dope. shits different. that “urban vinyl” shit is real big. i know its craaazy in japan (been for a while, america is always slow on cutting edge trends) but i also seen these toys in here:
That’s a hot video, very smooth song. They need to put the album out instead of waiting for that magical big single, because I don’t think Lupe will have that at this point.
pretty good video, even though it was an ad for his store/brand (richeous kung-fu) – cant blame him.
go listen to the interview they got of dude on hot97, dude is big headed (nohomo)
i hope he move units because it will convince record execs that you can make quality musik and be profitable. but powers that be will probably throw a monkey wrench in the gear shaft.
hey does anybody know how 2 copy videos cuz i wanna copy sum videos from my high school football game last friday and i cant even see cause of sum plug ins wronf with windows media can anybody help me
first, i agreee with big e. it’s not a good single choice, and ms. scott can get anytime.
as for the song, it’s a lazy rip-off… sample. lupe is a dope rhymer and jill scott can sing amazingly, but they just didn’t put much into this… lupe did come thru fresh and enthused, but it seems like misdirected energy, not natural.
the original song (and beat!!) they sample is “Daydream In Blue” by a trip-hop group called I Moster. you may also recognize the sample as it was used by The Beta Band for their single “Squares”.
yeah, there are three versions i’m aware of with the same “Daydream” sample and they all sound better than this version to me. mainly, because it sounds tired. lemme fire up soulseek and i’ll see if i can up some..
yo wut up. i’m fuckin’ high, sittin’ around the house, it’s fuckin’ HOT OUT. this track is awful, sounds like some hippie shit. the video is boring too.
“Jill Scott got some kind of rick james-esque aura…”
^ um……=/ u lost me on that one doggie.
her spirit is ill. when she was on the chapelle block party joint, her spirit and presence wass mad powerful. cuz i really aint heard none of her albums and shit. but i can sense a powerful presence…and that movie was the first time i got to see her for more than a video clip. she reminds me of billie holiday. matter of fact, she rockin that flower in her crop just like how lady day use to do. playin homage….
I mean she has this wierd sexy aura around her. Ever since she had that video where she was walkin around singing, whenever I think of her I imagine this orange aura. Kinda like the one from the rick james skit on Chapelle’s show. It’s her spirit that makes her sexy.
“Maybe I’m buggin out/ Maybe I’m on a spaceship” (c) Joe Budden
It was one of her first videos, from her first lp. Dope video, dope song. She seems like a real classy woman. Her and Alicia Keys are both strong, independent women. Both could get it, just off of those traits.
acid jazz? indie rock? this is fuckin’ Nah Right, not MTV. this is the block on the internet. fuck all that rock shit.
^^
LOL.
you’d be surprised iLL.It’s str8 sometimes.
okay…so…..despite practically the whole album being leaked already…I’m actually going to go buy it on the day it comes out september 19…this is how much faith i have in this dude…lmao….wow.
if the music is dope and you feel it, good for you, but if you are going to dismiss a sound just because of the geographic location it originates from is unfamiliar territory to you, or just because of its genre, that’s not cool. you called it acid jazz? it’s experimental, plus genre’s don’t mean shit these days.
i’m sure when Lupe heard the song, he didn’t say Scotland, indie-rock… I’ll pass. even though, his song is weak, props to Lupe for being open-minded.
hiphop is too fucking conservative… we need more experimentation.
>> you’d be surprised iLL.It’s str8 sometimes.
nah, i can’t take these bands. shit just doesn’t bump. but girls listen to more different types of muzik and shit. i’ll stick with NaS and Mobb Deep and 40 Cal. all these rock bands, fuckin’ crazy, they don’t even know what they talk about.
This song is decent along with the video, but I am not sure this track will take Lupe where he’s trying to go? Jill Scott was a good look because she already has deep soul fanbase, so her fans will probably check for this single as well. I still think Kick Push is his best single so far though. I hope Lupe doesn’t go Little Brother on us, with a great album and subpar record sales? I guess time will tell….

fuck all that compare rap to rock shit. you still see NaS, Rakim and Wu-Tang sellin’ out shows. just cuz shit doesn’t get bumped as much as it used to doesn’t mean people aren’t still checkin’ for KRS-One shows.

I’m fiendin for some new shit, and I really hope he doesn’t dissapoint with garbage like that neptunes joint he put out.
^ Which joint are you referring to? I like the joint with the band in the background called “…And He Gets the Girl”. But I’m definitely anticipating this album too. I like this video and song. I agree with the majority in here about Jill Scott gettin’ it. She’s a classy lady, but I know it’s some freeky deeky within her, lol. Plus if you ever read her book of poems then you could further comprehend.
“Also, anyone check that Serius Jones? Shit is so fuckin hot, I can’t stop bumpin it and I still don’t think I heard the whole thing.”
^ Yo, that joint is fire. I downloaded it and I’ve been bumpin’ it since. I’m gonna cop the actual cd if I can find it because it comes with a dvd. Plus I wanna show my support. He got some nice song-writing skills, definitely impressed. I know you were feelin’ that joint about the “purple”.
Sampling rock is the next production movement. You’ve already seen dope tracks by M.O.P., Obie Trice, Outkast, DMX, and Jay-Z that were sampling hard rock/heavy metal. Hard instrumentals with fast lyrics, what is wrong with that? Plus the obvious crossover appeal. I’m pretty sure that is what Dre’s Detox will be riding on.
Here is a good example of what I am talking about:
lololol.
yea i guess.
i wonder why older more classic rock bands have more respect in they respective audiences or w/e that like the 0G’s in the rap game tho
^ Because the young, Black youth don’t respect the elders. Honestly, I’ve met more white kids from West Bumble Fuck, USA who can tell me more about the Golden Era of hip hop than I can.

^ People are so afraid of rock and I don’t know why. Personally, I can name about 5 alternative artists right off the back who make good music and have had better albums since the millenium than most rap artists. What’s more disturbing is that people don’t recognize the ROOTS of rock and that Blacks birthed the art. Recently there have been plenty of good bands (white or otherwise) that make good rock music and have elements very close to jazz, r&b, and rap:
“i wonder why older more classic rock bands have more respect in they respective audiences or w/e that like the 0G’s in the rap game tho”
Not really a fair comparison for one really big reason:
Rock is about 50 years older than hip-hop.
Though I doubt anybody will ever get the respect in any genre that the Beatles get and deserve. They broke a lot of ground, from song writing, instrumentals, to music based hardware. They’ve sold more than one billion records, which is probably more than all of hip-hop combined.
Linkin Park is the shit. New album produced by Rick Rubin due in November. Hip-hop heads will recognize that name as the one who co-founded Def Jam and produced Jay-Z “99 Problems”.
Music genre’s are really only determined by music labels.
“# nation of eighties’ babies Says:

He is the man. Only if you listen to rock though. He did LL Cool J and Beastie Boys debut’s though. He also broke RUN DMC into the game with their big album. Then he went on to do rock only. There are some rap tracks he has done over the years.
I didn’t mean it that way nation. I meant that it was a good sign that a Lupe Fiasco thread would go platinum. Thanks for bringing this thread 1 step closer to a plat. plaque.

^ I don’t think there’s a song on the mixtape I don’t like. I’m especially impressed by A Day In The Life. I only knew him through youtube battles and thought he was a dope battle rapper but couldn’t be more. I’m really impressed and am left wanting more. I’m definitly gonna stop by Burkina next weekend and pick up a copy. He’s gotta know we want more.

^ Same here. Only thing is that I’m havin’ trouble finding his album. Somethin’ tells me that I’ll have to make a trip to D.C. this weekend on 14th and U streets to get a copy. I don’t even know if that store has it so I should definitely call first. I was actually on his website bumpin’ the available tracks before I was able to download the album.
Serius Jones, Lupe, Pap, Sai, Joe B., Joell… man, it’s gonna be a hell of a Fall season.
August 20th, 2006 at 7:40 pm
Maybe if Budden rode around on a skateboard he could get HOV to hold him down..
^ Most of his problems come from politics with the label that were there way before Jay was there. He needs to be where he can have more freedom. That’s why I’m glad Lupe didn’t go to DJ. For one, Atlantic probably offered him a better deal. Two, it’s too many guys at DJ that he would get overshadowed by simply for the reason that right now they’re catering to more of the commercially accepted music rather than just artistic quality. If Joe was on another label he’d have a better chance rather than try to fit into the works of Rick Ross, Jeezy, Neyo, etc.
..nah not tha exact date sorry fam..its a cold mixtape tho im listenin to it now they make a good collab team..styles offset each other and all tha joints mostly bangers

Too bad Lupe will be the only one to make it. There is no way in hell those other guys will come out before Spring 2007, if ever. I’m talking retail, I’m sure there will be at least a dozen mixtapes from those artists before the end of the year.
“Atlantic = New Def Jam”
Horrible comparison.

^ Me and Sour are talkin’ about his street album King Me. I still still think he’s ill on the battle tip, but this album is nice; cohesive.
It Was Written was Nas’ sell out CD. Has nothing to do with Illmatic and came out before Jay-Z’s Reasonable Doubt. If you want to listen to a great Nas album where Jay gets murked, then pick up Stillmatic.
And Buddens is good. He is smart hip-hop with talent. I like that Killer Mike song “That’s Life”, but he doesn’t exactly have the smoothest flow. Compare that song to the first few bars on the Gnarls Barkley “Crazy” remix. Buddens really kills those beginning bars.

^^^You wrong dude. Nas was writing rhymes in the car outside the club, while everyone else was partying, then Kelis went and got him to take a break and come dance to MILKSHAKE..that’s just coincidence that you saw him then…lil homey’s hard at work

hey does anybody know how 2 copy videos cuz i wanna copy sum videos from my high school football game last friday and i cant even see cause of sum plug ins wronf with windows media can anybody help me
August 20th, 2006 at 5:00 pm
first, i agreee with big e. it’s not a good single choice, and ms. scott can get anytime.
as for the song, it’s a lazy rip-off… sample. lupe is a dope rhymer and jill scott can sing amazingly, but they just didn’t put much into this… lupe did come thru fresh and enthused, but it seems like misdirected energy, not natural.
the original song (and beat!!) they sample is “Daydream In Blue” by a trip-hop group called I Moster. you may also recognize the sample as it was used by The Beta Band for their single “Squares”.
August 20th, 2006 at 5:00 pm
jill scott is ILL. i dont like big girls, but i do like her. her vibe is mad powerful.
August 20th, 2006 at 5:03 pm
i like her too, but i wont just give it to her like that. im fuckign picky.
where the fuck did all these people come from?
August 20th, 2006 at 5:03 pm
There’s another version of this song luv theif? Can someone up it?
August 20th, 2006 at 5:06 pm
Jill Scott got some kind of rick james-esque aura….
August 20th, 2006 at 5:07 pm
yeah, there are three versions i’m aware of with the same “Daydream” sample and they all sound better than this version to me. mainly, because it sounds tired. lemme fire up soulseek and i’ll see if i can up some..
August 20th, 2006 at 5:07 pm
yo wut up. i’m fuckin’ high, sittin’ around the house, it’s fuckin’ HOT OUT. this track is awful, sounds like some hippie shit. the video is boring too.

her spirit is ill. when she was on the chapelle block party joint, her spirit and presence wass mad powerful. cuz i really aint heard none of her albums and shit. but i can sense a powerful presence…and that movie was the first time i got to see her for more than a video clip. she reminds me of billie holiday. matter of fact, she rockin that flower in her crop just like how lady day use to do. playin homage….

I mean she has this wierd sexy aura around her. Ever since she had that video where she was walkin around singing, whenever I think of her I imagine this orange aura. Kinda like the one from the rick james skit on Chapelle’s show. It’s her spirit that makes her sexy.

Never heard of the beta band. Are they acid jazz?
@ Boston George
It was one of her first videos, from her first lp. Dope video, dope song. She seems like a real classy woman. Her and Alicia Keys are both strong, independent women. Both could get it, just off of those traits.

LOL
if the music is dope and you feel it, good for you, but if you are going to dismiss a sound just because of the geographic location it originates from is unfamiliar territory to you, or just because of its genre, that’s not cool. you called it acid jazz? it’s experimental, plus genre’s don’t mean shit these days.
i’m sure when Lupe heard the song, he didn’t say Scotland, indie-rock… I’ll pass. even though, his song is weak, props to Lupe for being open-minded.
hiphop is too fucking conservative… we need more experimentation.

^ People are so afraid of rock and I don’t know why. Personally, I can name about 5 alternative artists right off the back who make good music and have had better albums since the millenium than most rap artists. What’s more disturbing is that people don’t recognize the ROOTS of rock and that Blacks birthed the art. Recently there have been plenty of good bands (white or otherwise) that make good rock music and have elements very close to jazz, r&b, and rap:
Maroon 5
Linkin’ Park
Incubis
Coldplay
And that’s just to name a few.

“I don’t think there’s a song on the mixtape I don’t like. I’m especially impressed by A Day In The Life. I only knew him through youtube battles and thought he was a dope battle rapper but couldn’t be more. I’m really impressed and am left wanting more. I’m definitly gonna stop by Burkina next weekend and pick up a copy. He’s gotta know we want more.”
Serius Jones battling? He doesn’t flow, he treats it more like open mic at the comedy club. I don’t know what the fuck people are talking about. I try out his real music though if somebody uploads it.
“Serius Jones, Lupe, Pap, Sai, Joe B., Joell… man, it’s gonna be a hell of a Fall season.”
Damn, I thought they were going to promote and retail that Juelz Santana and Lil Wayne collab. Probably for the best as it is the beginning of the year for the music industry.

Harlem is cool but its a little too city for me. BK got trees. Like every kinda Black person is represented: Spanish/West Indian/African/Brazilian/Gangsta/Intellect/Gangsta Intellect/Rich/Poor/etc. And because of that you have the food and music from all over plus the women. BK is fine as all outdoors but still are raw/thorough. Peoples is about family here and there are ten million kids. And white people have no sway here. they keep to their side and have little influence on the whole vibe. like i haven’t really seen a white person in like 6 days. It’s just the top spot in the world imo to be black and i been to cities in africa, europe, etc.

checked out ATL over the wknd, not a bad coming of age flick, TI impressed me with his acting. Also went looking for city of god, couldnt find it nowhere. I was back and forth between flav of love, and Entourage.
Yea I think Sai’s character is a rizzap.

^ Way to break it down. I’ve only been to BK a handful of times and 2 of those times were near Fulton. One of those times was a bad experience that I’d rather not talk about, lol.

yeah its funny if you live in bk your nose starts to bleed if you go uptown/harlem. the bronx might as well be in another country. and uptown niggas NEVER go to brooklyn unless they absolutely have to. the science of the boroughs is deep. i’ve lived everywhere so i peeped how different the mentalities are.

what it be like nahright.
i was just at a party for kelis and saw nas there. this is just speculation but judging from his behavior i don’t think he will be finished with an album until next year. he just doesn’t seem to care about the music business, which i understand.
^^^You wrong dude. Nas was writing rhymes in the car outside the club, while everyone else was partying, then Kelis went and got him to take a break and come dance to MILKSHAKE..that’s just coincidence that you saw him then…lil homey’s hard at work
