I grew up on the old shit they were talkin’ about in the article like Doo Doo Brown. I think I was about 9 or 10 when that dropped. Lately, as in the past 4 years, I’ve given up on it because it just isn’t for me. It’s cool when you’re young because you dance to it and grind on chicks. But you can’t be no grown ass man and wildin’ out. Nowadays that shit is aggressive and violent. Like the editor said, being that the music is so sample-heavy it’s hard to get it played and distributed outside of B’more. Some people love it and a lot of people hate it. It’s all a matter of taste. Personally, I’d rather go to a club where it’s not being played so that I can keep my sanity. Some Jersey and PA heads who go to school down here usually like. NYC can’t stand it though. And D.C. be straight hatin’ (as if go-go don’t suck). Well, honestly, a lot of yall have been exposed to go-go because of Rich Harrison but didn’t know it when you heard it (J. Lo’s “Get Right”, Amerie’s “One Thing”, Toni Braxton’s “Take This Ring”). Club music’s national attention is gonna die down soon (just like hyphy) but even before the popularity it was always Bmore’s culture.

^ In a way. After Frank took V103 with him to ATL, I noticed the birth of their sound right after that. Plus Memphis cats was sayin’ that they birthed crunk a long time ago. Although club music is a lot more uptempo than crunk. You can get on the dance floor and do little shoulder and snap dances to crunk and look like you fit in. But you will look like an ass if you try to fake like you know how to dance to club music. Either you gonna get bizzy, grind on a freak, or play the wall. well, for all I know, discrimination against blacks in South Korea is crazy. It’s very subtle but conspicuous at the same time. Koreans wouldn’t do anything crazy such as, hate crimes against blacks. but, they’d be afraid to approach blacks. or talk to blacks or somethin like that. but what can I say, koreans don’t even like their dark-skinned Koreans as well, then again, I’m sure there are koreans in South Korea that don’t have any problem with blacks. and I’m tellin ya.
