Flex To Gravy: You Need More People
According to the Daily News, Flex told The New Yorker magazine that he doesn’t believe Gravy really got shot in the ass in front of Hot 97 back in April. He says that nobody has actually seen the bullet wound and his suspicions were aroused by the fact that the Brooklyn rapper still came upstairs and did the interview and later claimed that he had no idea that he was shot.
Flex also complains that the decline of the small-time drug business, and resulting unemployment, has brought a "persistent, annoying" element into the hip-hop biz. "People who can’t make a fast buck on the corner anymore, now they think maybe the music business is a fast buck," he tells the mag.
I’m not in one of those moods today where I feel like being all preachy and attacking Flex for his hypocrisy, but I feel like that last quote deserves a negro please. Not for nothing, but aren’t 90% of the unsigned rappers who get mixtape and late night radio play stuck in a space where they’re trying to strike a balance between the streets and the industry? I actually agree with the notion that alot of these clowns have no skills and are treating rap like a trip OT, but I also know that whenever I catch Flex’s show he’s usually playing alot of music from people with what could be considered questionable backgrounds.

Slip-N-Slide rapper Plies is behind bars this morning following a shooting at a Gainesville nightclub Sunday.
Fifteen minutes before closing time, bullets sprayed into a sold-out crowd of about 1,000 people gathered to Plies and one other performer. Witnesses told police that members of the Tampa rapper’s entourage had pulled their weapons and began firing.
Police went to the group’s car nearby and arrested four men, including Plies.
Plies, whose real name is Algernod Lanier Washington, was performing “street rap” in the club when his microphone was cut off so Louisiana rapper LIL BOOSIE could perform. It was 1:45 a.m., and Plies’performance was running long.
Plies was enraged, according to witnesses, and a fight that started with shouting and fists ended when at least six rounds of bullets were fired.
Many in the crowd immediately dropped to the ground, others ran out of the club so fast that their shoes were left behind.
No one received life-threatening injuries, however all five of the people shot were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Plies, 30, is charged with illegal possession of a concealed weapon. The two other men are charged with attempted murder.

^ So just because a person raps that means he can’t be a reliable source of information? And for the record, I consider myself an intellectual but there are a lot of things I don’t know. Why discredit another Black man just because of his occupation? So KRS One, Rakim, PRT, Nas, Mos Def, Common, Talib and Lupe never kicked knowledge?
