Cube did pioneer gangsta rap. But I just can’t see him coming back to that after doing “Barber Shop” and kid movies. It’s nothing wrong with those movies but it seems that he’s not that dude anymore. He should pass the torch and let one of the new dudes continue the legacy.

Ty Biggs… That show was shit on a stick. The only person who walked away learning something from the experience was the white daughter. That poetry shit was real and I could only imagine what she went through. The rest of the mofos was on some other shit. The white father was in denial. The white mother was lost. The black mother had an attitude problem. The black father was actin’ “brand new” like he didn’t know that type of shit went on in white social scenes (i.e. bars, shoe stores, etc). And the black son was an idiot. How in the hell could one kid be so oblivious to racism? I blame that shit on his parents. See what happens when you raise your kids in the burbs? I’m not sayin’ all Black kids in the ‘burbs think like him. But I went to college with a lot of well-off Black kids from other parts of MD and they act like shit is all sweet in the city. West Coast… It makes sense though. That’s why he did that theme song for the show “Black/White”. He wants to raise a certain level of conscienceness in the people. Do I think he should still do street music? Nah. As I mentioned earlier, I think he should pass the torch on for someone else to represent the streets of L.A. But I do think he can still convey a message that will make people think. It’s funny, because I think the most commercial song he’s ever done was “We Be Clubbin”, which was still a success. If you think about it, now everyone calls it “clubbin’” instead of “club hoppin’”. I just need to hear a few more tracks from this new joint though. Better yet, just some tracks period.

billz, those fl spanish chicks could get it and have gotten it. i was in ft. lauderdale, bout 25 min from mia. but shit is so poppin there. it really is the devils playground. i had one of the best nights of my life that started with a blunt at my boys crib, and ended up with me smashin a chick at the end of the night. we went to all the dope spots, skybar, opium, etc. drank a ton of liquor, smoked, dabbed in some other things. the bitch i picked up had a limo for just her and her friend. got retarded in the whip, and ended the night like i said before. all this and i spent $3 the whole night. god i miss mia. (if you have connects there, you can keep it very gully for very cheap. )

I got tons of respect for O’Shea. He has been succesfull at everything he’s tried. I can’t say that I’m really excited about this album but I will give it a shot just on GP.

As for the show Black & White, I enjoyed every episode. White people are like the animals on discovery channel. You never know what they are going to do next or how they will react to certain situations. They make great reality shows, bar none.

one thing about the whole longevity thing. it’s not a lot of rock fans checking for a new stones album these days, just like its not a lot of rap fans checking for a new public enemy album these days. the stones’ glory days are over as well.

yet there is one difference and that’s the historical sensibility that more rock fans seem to have compared to rap fans. they seem to have more respect and knowledge when it comes to the old school, although you could argue that with all the old school references found in hip hop, from pac’s “old school” to the countless audio two references. might have something to do with “freshness” being one of rap’s fundamental pillars or it could just be ignorance. i dunno.

If your last 3 albums weren’t good quality, its obvious the knees are too tired too perform. He had a good run. He is top ten no doubt, but he is no where near what he used to be. Rap changes like the weather so thats why its not timeless.

yeah I can have a real convo with you dog. I was just saying that most times a rapper hits a point when he just wasnt at his best you know what I mean. Like I said earlier rap changes either good or bad. Cube was in a different era, he cant be consistently who he was back in the day. Its hard for any artist to maintain that mojo or spark what have you.

Now in the case of rap, its just not a timeless genre of music. Should we show more appreciation to our fore fathers sure. Krs was a educator so he is one of the only ones who has sustainable lyrics. Rap is not designed for people like me who want to hear 88-96. Its age limit is maintained through 16-24. So thats who they maret to.

Rap only has been in existence for about 30-40 yrs. So its still relatively new. So I’m saying rap is just like Ball. Sure some players are great at older ages but most of them sort of decline, or their style is different cause the game is changing. Good or for worse, thats just how it is.

..as a little boy growing up in Crown Heights, while all my friends liked the Jets or Giants, I was fascinated with the Vikings logo and purple uniforms (no homo)…as i got older, Fran Tarkenton, Chuck Foreman, Ahmad Rashad, Alan Page, Warren Moon, Cris Carter, Robert Smith, Randy Moss, and of course Daunte were my favorite athletes…living in Minneapolis from 1991-1998 allowed me to see my childhood team up close and actually meet a few of these dudes in person…even though i’m now living in Hell on Earth (Greenville, S.C.), I will never let go of my roots, whether it be music, sports or religion…as for Daunte, he just didnt want to be there anymore, the Minnesota media is EXTREMELY racist and the bad press that the black athletes get there, has forced many a Black athlete to want to pack and leave, retire or be traded away (see: Stephon Marbury, Randy Moss, Daunte, Robert Smith, and soon KG)…

I fucks with dudes like Moss, T.O., and Sapp. They stay buckin’ the system. My reason for favoring their character? Because the NFL/NBA don’t really give a fuck about you as a person. You can get bought, traded, and sold like a commodity, stock option, or I hate to say it… cattle. Athletes are nothing but trading cards for rich, grown people. Once you get injured you are worthless to the league and they could care less what happens to you. The millions that they throw at these guys is nothin’ but petty cash to these owners. The answer to that is if you know a whole lot about “Rockas”, not the shit these reggae dudes have been doing today, but real hardcore “Rockas”, those are the type of cadences they did. Also, if KRS One is one of your top ten then you know that in alot of his songs he embraced that genre of music from his genesis. The shit Cam is doing is just silly with no direction. Cube’s new album is no different then what he usually does. He’s got that music that pumps into your viens, but there is always a hidden message. He stays dissin politicians, magazine editors (and anyone who wants to be a critic and criticize everything instead of moving on and supporting what you like), maybe a couple subliminals at people who he use to back up, and always throwing jabs at police.
