First V2,
Decent Video, they in vegas! :D!
May 24th, 2006 at 12:32 pm
sickest song im gonna peep the clip now
May 24th, 2006 at 12:33 pm
2…darn so closed..video was tight kanye, t.i. paul wall and glc…classic im really feelin that video 1
May 24th, 2006 at 12:33 pm
Kanye is hot
May 24th, 2006 at 12:33 pm
the version of this song with t.i.’s verse only appears on KING … i think, so i dont think its considered as a LATE REGISTRATION or a PEOPLE’s CHAMP single, because t.i. isnt on those versions
May 24th, 2006 at 12:40 pm
i like the clip because i originally liked the song, but did they put all of vegas backwards not to pay the city for shooting there? and when i say there i mean green screening it. i think someone should turn on the lights in the studio, and i dont know if its the youtube but i get the feeling that they all forgot the lyrics to their song.
May 24th, 2006 at 12:41 pm
Slick
May 24th, 2006 at 12:50 pm
Was that just a commercial for Lincoln?
Weren’t the first three cars Lincolns? I couldn’t tell.
Hot video though. T.I.’s verse is tops.
May 24th, 2006 at 12:52 pm
I hate being at work sometimes
May 24th, 2006 at 12:52 pm
>>but did they put all of vegas backwards not to pay the city for shooting there?
^ I notice that alot of videos in Vegas are shot like that, I wonder why?
May 24th, 2006 at 12:56 pm
yea Green Screen like crazy…pretty obvious…makes the video look cheap at times.
May 24th, 2006 at 12:59 pm
>>>Was that just a commercial for Lincoln?
^ Yeah, it pretty much was - I think Licoln paid for the video
http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/02/27/lincoln-mkz-to-star-in-new-kanye-west-video/
>>>I notice that alot of videos in Vegas are shot like that, I wonder why?
^ It’s the easiest way to obscure trademarks so the video producers don’t have to get clearances from all the businesses in Vegas or Times Square when they shoot a video there.

Here’s the facts
ty biggums:
-believes 2nd childhood was nothing special, then had to take it back but not really
-believes that favor for a favor was nothing special.
- did not even rate the fire intro on stillmatic
-still is dogmatic about there not being 5 hot songs on stillmatic when clearly there is plenty
- said one mic was overrated
-had to recant his statement about I am being trash
-everyone has pointed out the double standard but he fails to repeat it
-goes off on tangents about nas topics and content with his life that has nothing to do with the question at hand about I am and stillmatic being trash
- Very dogmatic in saying Stillmatic and I am being Trash. not average but Trash
-has argued about ether not being all that/says that nas only said 1 hot line in ether
—Very cocky and in his words talking to coldplay and Landlord saidâ€FUCK YOU BOTH I KNOW MORE ABOUT HIP-HOP THAN YOU COULD EVER HOPE FOR. â€
the KICKER– *Believes that Takeover was better than Ether*(I am a jay fan and when I heard this even I admitted that ether beat takeover)
The DOOZY- this is in his own words Black album is just as good as reasonable doubt
The DOOZY of all doozy’s - I asked him what albums were better than illmatic- He says, IRONMAN, MOMENT OF TRUTH, **BLACK ALBUM**, READY TO DIE, ETC.( these are all great albums but does it quite match up to illmatic?)
Thinks that Nas is only in Top 10 but not top 5/believes that EM is better than NAS
okay guys this is just a brief. Now its up to you guys to make your own conclusion of why he thinks I am and stillmatic are trash.
This is not an argument of jay vs nas. I have pointed out some points why he thinks I am and stillmatic are trash. He has some ambiguous feeling towards jay so maybe that is because of his dislike of nas Albums.
May 24th, 2006 at 1:03 pm
T.I. was a mix match - he didn’t mesh well with the song.
The rest of the song is nice minus the t.i. performance.
May 24th, 2006 at 1:06 pm
This is the best Lincoln commercial I’ve ever seen.
May 24th, 2006 at 1:06 pm
I liked that. They got a screwed version on Paul Walls cd.
May 24th, 2006 at 1:08 pm
Boosie… Did you really have to drag that debate over here? Geesh.
May 24th, 2006 at 1:10 pm
T.I. = worst remix edition since Diddy in Courvoisier

I agree. but his verse was still fire

Instead of blurring out the “golden NUgget” logo they just invert the background as to not promote any businesses from gettin free promotion and also to protect themselves from infringements.

SEE YOU LIKE IRNMAN BETTER THAN ILLMATIC BOOSIE CALLED ME AN IDIOT FOR SAYING THAT BUT PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS ON DIFFERENT MUSIC.
AS FOR EM IM NOT SURPRISED YOU DONT LIKE HIM BUT I FUCK WITH EM FOR THE SAME REASON AS PAC, NO ONE ELSE GETS THEIR EMOTIONS AND FEELINGS THROUGH THE RECORD LIKE THEM AND THATS WHY I LIKE BUDDENS SO MUCH BUT THATS ME AND WHAT I LOOK FOR IN MY MUSIC.
ALSO WHEN I WAS GOING OFF ON MY NAS TANGENT YOU PEOPLE STILL DIDNT GET THAT WAS SAYING NAS DISAPPOINTS ME BECAUSE I EXPECT BETTER FROM HIM THAN EVERYTHING AFTER IT WAS WRITTEN AND SORRY I DO, PEOPLE WERENT REALLY GRASPING WHAT I WAS SAYING CAUSE AGAIN I LIKE NAS I JUST DONT LIKE THE ALBUMS HE HAS PUT OUT ( LOST TAPES WAS HOT TO DEATH THOUGH )

I’m not going to talk about this bullshit anymore, I just dont like it when people make emotional arguments.

I ask because I think that will play a big part in where you rank it on your list. I was 16 ( I think) so I was in the prime of my running the streets period and I had just discovered weed could be taken as a daily supplement rather than just an occaisonal luxury. Those were some of the best most fun times of my life and that album was part of the Soundtrack, which is why it’s so close to my heart (as is Ready to Die, OB4CL, etc)

@TYRONEBIGGUMS71
…look dude, for the last time you jumped the gun yesterday…my comment to coldplay had nothing to do with race, it was more about you being a NAS hater (HUMOR), also i knew you were gonna read too much into it, and overeact…now, about race…*deep breath*….everyone has their own beliefs and opinions, some want to discuss them, some want to argue, and some are willing to DIE for their beliefs…so we BOTH are playing a dangerous game, even if it is behind a pc screen…but dude, if you dont agree with someone, all that “fuck you come see me” shit is assinine, regardless of what is said…if you dont agree, why cant you intellectually present your position without calling people haters and all sorts of other slick shit…you have to know by now that there are people who will post shit just to stir the pot and get a reaction out of certain people, so dont fall victim to that shit weekly…again, i never directed anything at your fam, i dont know them…if got ambivalent feelings towards me, i accept that because you aint the first and wont be the last, but really though, it would be wise for you to not invite people to come see you, because you REALLY have no idea what the outcome will be…that said, we can either extend the olive branch and build on on this HIP-HOP shit and agree to disagree, or we can…………………………………………

^aren’t you from Brooklyn? on my block and in my circle of friends it’s probably about 50-50 for Jay or Nas. one thing I’ve noticed is alot of white people prefer Nas. (not trying to insinuate anything either, I’m just saying)

Ironman is tit for tat with Illmatic. Most people say something is a classic just because others say it. Many say Illmatic is one of best of all times, but I personally would rather listen to Ironman before Illmatic.
An Em is DEFINITELY top 10. Even though I never bought one of his cd’s. To be a white boy, he’s done his thing. Plus lyrically can’t many fugg with him. In a wierd way, he’s wack to me, but he’s still one of the best to ever do it.
May 24th, 2006 at 1:49 pm
i really dislike kanye. this video only adds to it and i don’t know why. maybe because its a glorified lincoln commercial. maybe because the song has been used on 3 albums.

Lol @ Reggae be baggn’ birds.

oh and just to keep the argument movin cause i’ve missed out on my nah right fix for over a week, NAS IS TRASH BUT ILLMATIC IS CLASSIC. that fuckin cd is great from begining to end. i think nas just doesn’t have it anymore but that cd is fuckin amazing. and anyone who thinks reasonable doubt wasn’t a classic is retarted. if you can’t enjoy those cd’s than your part of the new (stan) generation of hiphop.

It just amazes me the wack ass rappers that are allowed in the game now that have no skills man. The priorities of hiphop have totally reversed. As long as the beat is bangin, that’s all that counts.
It’ll be interesting to see how Nas comes on this HIP HOP IS DEAD cd… Will he take it back to the essence, or go commercial and sprinkle all this new age bullshit on his product. Or BOTH.

Foekist… Well, I’m sure no one is still buying Queen (though I did purchase Black Reign recently) but for her to have that album in particular, especially Black Reign, says a lot. For those who don’t know, Black Reign is the joint with U.N.I.T.Y, Blackhand Side, and Just Another Day on it. Honestly, it is a solid album. She touched on a lot of topics with that album.
May 24th, 2006 at 2:02 pm
i don’t know about that biggs. i think em is great. but his recent albums were too poppy and emtional. now poppy aint cool but emotional is iight. buddens has songs that express alot of emotion. but you can relate to alot of the emotions that buddens puts out there. with eminem its a unique situation to him and although i’ll say some of the songs on the eminem show were good, they wouldn’t get a second listen. i like the old angry em. the lets get it poppin em. i’ll still check for anything he puts out, but songs like fack are making that harder and harder.

May 24th, 2006 at 2:15 pm
Reggae… Ahhhh, see I knew you would take it there! But that’s exactly why I made sure I worded my post accurately. If you noticed, I didn’t put Jay in the bird column, though I did put Nas in the wifey column (no cam’ron). This is how I sum up Jay’s music. Jay is the guy who has above average smarts yet still hangs out with rah-rah dudes. Jay has mastered the art of musically making double interpretations of his music. Nas is blantantly a poet and you really have to understand metaphors and art to comprehend his style. For instance, some people will intrepret a song like “D’Evils” as some average street shit, others will say it was pure genius. Before Jay, I’ve never known anyone to take hussler tales and incoporate vivid images and articulate complex words. [sidenote: I was 13 when Illmatic dropped. Just had to get that out there].
I said all of that to say that Jay’s type of music is up in the air because he’s smarter than his listeners. He has perfected the art of making a lyrical song. And we all know that hit songs have hot beats. Women are easily infatuated with this swag and cool demeanor. But the funny thing is, they know most of his latest songs word for word. But ask a chick to recite off of Reasonable Doubt (excluding Aint No Nigga) and she will be baffled. I think he explained best when he said, “I dumbed down my audience to double my dollars”. Yet he still finds a way to reach people of certain intellectual status.
Therefore Raggaeton, it depends on what type of dude is listening to his music. I guarantee you’ll get different inpretations of the meanings of his songs.

Beans was killin it on this old mixtape I got with him and Green Lan’in. He copy Pac’s flow on there and had it down pact. Then he did Chuck D, and some others. He was just “diggin in the crates”. I don’t think many can do that shit.
May 24th, 2006 at 2:19 pm
so that being with em, whatever he did like say “nigger” they would be all over it. They seized on his every little move.
I dont know why mays had such ill will toward em, but I guess he views things from black perspective, and didnt like some of the undeserved hype em was getting.
steve harvey really didnt like em. He wanted to take his ghetto pass after that. But the hood forgave em for that. Some still aint though.
May 24th, 2006 at 2:20 pm
then he used that “Can I Live” beat that the Lox did with Black Rob, which to me is a forgotten song that is a timeless joint.
May 24th, 2006 at 2:20 pm
@Es, that wasnt my point, I was simply drawing a comparison as to why dudes from where I’m from may tend to appreciate Nas more than Jay. Chicks like Jay-z cause of the floss and party anthems, REAL hip hoppers prefer Nas cause of his unwielding commitment to perserve street hop, and to bring awarness to the issues.
May 24th, 2006 at 2:22 pm
but cold,
can real hip hoppers like Jay too though?
I dont like flossy jay but I like encore jay, where I’m from jay, cant be life jay. You know. The real stuff.

Nas is STILL wack. But you STILL have to give people what they want to hear and mix the message in there. Got damn, how could everyone on Earth BUT Nas know his beats have been wack as shit?

And as far as real hip hoppers, that shit don’t apply with Jay and Nas. you can’t seriously say that REAL hip hop fans only like Nas.

To sum it all up, Nas puts his soul into his albums, where as Jay does, but maybe only one song on each of his albums. he caters more to a pop audience, but you dudes are happy with the few grains he throws to feed your addiction. Nas on the other hand says fuck sales and bitches, this is for my niggas.

I’m feeling where cold is coming from but
he says it becuase a lot of you guys are coming on here saying NAS IS WACK.
you guys are repeating jay-z lyrics to make your own posts.
Most real hiphoppers know that JAY AND NAS are about equal. I have never argued for either or, It’s some of you people dick ride jay so hard, as far as to say NAS IS WACK.

lol @ Billz. i see you too homie.
coldplay, do you even listen to nas? he puts his all into it? are you buggin. the most of his albums have been forced. trying to conform to the standards of hip pop and failing. leaving him without his true hiphop fans and without the mtv audience. now nas has had some good songs off albums other than illmatic, but rarely any. and i would say jays albums are maybe 20-25% mtv. thats absolutely fine with me cause the rest of the shit is real as fuck. nas digusts me becuase he has been confused with his place in hiphop for a long time. i think he is one of the most talented lyricists with the least effort put in to making that known. i lost respect for him and don’t even care what he puts out anymore.

i just think its a matter of preference for the most part biggs. but i hate it when people try to discredit jay. he is truly an artist. creating masterpiece albums that satisfy all genre’s. and rewind was cool but i feel it lacked a truly great story which it could have been. meet the parents takes a big fat chris farley diahrea shit all over rewind. i used to be a big nas fan. almost never of his albums but i would like alot of the clue shit and other mixtape shit he did like blaze a 50 and whatnot. but when it came down to it, he would always dissapoint. its cool if people fucks with him, but don’t take your love for him and use it to discredit jay. give respect where respect is due.

^^ I’m disappointed that this album didn’t do well out of the gate. It only moved 20,000 it’s first week (I think). But if that’s the case, it looks like the sales are increasing. This is one of the best alternative albums out right now. I just copped it the other day. For those who don’t know, Gnarls Barkley is the combination of C. Lo Green (vocalist) and DJ Danger Mouse (producer). The single “Crazy” is about to tie Bohemian Rhapshody on the UK charts for amount weeks at the #1 spot. For all of those who listen to alternative you should definitely go pick it up.

May 24th, 2006 at 3:05 pm
i dont even care if im late, i couldnt get to sleep last night and im just now seeing this.
i love the beat on this track, but i fucking hate the lyrics. kanye drops a verse about his homeboy who was so gangsta he inherited a trust fund. then he rhymes “baby” with “baby” THREE FUCKIN TIMES IN A ROW, and ends going back to his homeboy the trustfund baby who wont even break him off with some ass even though he is swiming in bitches.
so not only did kanye fucking son himself TWICE, he did it fucking patheticly.
also: i think the very first pair of taillights is an impala, isnt it? one of the newer ones? i might be wrong, though, i just woke up.
May 24th, 2006 at 3:07 pm
yo im pissed bout the gnarls barkley too, its shows the universal music love of the States!!! in UK its kicking ass, cant go anywhere without hearing it, according to some people i know in the UK, and they cant get enough of it… though i cant say im completely surprised its not doing well in the states cause the music here is mostly hip hop biased, even pop is turning hip hop… but it will rise hopefully, cause its a good album
May 24th, 2006 at 3:09 pm
d billz: gnarls is the worst cee-lo album so far, to me. cee-lo is Ok on it, but no where near the top of his game, and dangermouse sucked on like every beat pretty much. the best beats were only Ok, none of them were special at all, and some of them were pretty bad.
May 24th, 2006 at 3:15 pm
@DBILLZ
….i usually agree with most of your posts, but homie i swear if i hear or see the video for “crazy” one more time, im cancelling my directv…when i listen to alternative joints, im riding with Duncan Sheik, or Fiona Apple or even that old Police shit, or Depeche Mode…
May 24th, 2006 at 3:15 pm
p1 i think your missing the point of the album, its not meant to be hip hop, it was actually made to be for the UK population, cause there style is completely different, and it worked there, meaning its a great album cause the population it was meant for have it as number one for weeks now, too say its a bad album and not put into consideration the elements they put into it, is just ignorant… it is a good album, broad your musical horizons and you’d feel the same way
May 24th, 2006 at 3:18 pm
p1…
What does inheriting a meager trust fund (I’m assuming) has to do with street business?
“Down the street form Calumet a school full of stones
He nicknamed me K-Rock so they’d leave me alone
Bulls jacket with his hat broke way off”
^One of the most notorious gangs in Chicago. And the point of the song was to explain how his friend was tellin’ him to slow down and not chase hoes. Something a lot of the older heads neglect to do for our youth.
May 24th, 2006 at 3:22 pm
p1… I don’t look at Gnarls Barkley as a hip hop collabo. If you look at it from an alternative point of view it’s really a decent album. I knew before I picked up the album what to expect from it just judging from the song “Crazy”. Those songs are nothing like he would do for a Goodie Mob album. Same thing applies when listen to Guru’s Jazzmataz volumes.
Lanlord… Lol. I haven’t been watching videos lately so I have no idea about the frequency of the video being played. I do know that MTV will play the hell outta anything hot at the moment. That’s how people get tired of it so quick.
May 24th, 2006 at 3:24 pm
wait, wait. i started to reply to your comment about kanye and his silly shit, but then i read your first reply.
i have narrow musical taste because i dont like really bad production? you can go ahead and keep that shit in the UK if thats what you mean, then. i dont care where the album was “made for,” if it has weak ass production, it has weak ass production. that “the streets” shit sucked too, so what? i dont know hiphop cause the UK thinks weak ass shit can cut it? i dont think so.
my girlfriend just came home, im out for now.

p1 Says:
my girlfriend just came home, im out for now
Everything he has ever said went out the window with that last sentence…..
May 24th, 2006 at 3:29 pm
why are you running!!!… what weak ass production are you talking about… the production on the album was good… try taking the wax out your ears and just listen to it without being overly judgemental and you’ll recognize its a good album. even for the states its worth listening too
May 24th, 2006 at 3:31 pm
that pussy got him hooked
May 24th, 2006 at 3:33 pm
I think p1 missed the whole point. His whole argument could be debunked by the first sentence in my reply:
“I don’t look at Gnarls Barkley as a hip hop collabo.”
Now if that was supposed to be a hip hop album my views would be TOTALLY different.
May 24th, 2006 at 3:34 pm
Lol @ Darth and Plug. Yeah, if you’re overwhelmed by the Power U. then your hip hop credibility is automatically questioned.
Off to lunch…
May 24th, 2006 at 3:35 pm

May 24th, 2006 at 3:37 pm
exactly, there not a hip hop callabo, which is why p1’s comments are ignorant… his hip hop credibility isnt in questions cause he puts pussy on a pedistle, he just let us know who really runs things in his house hold, if he’s gotta get off the computer once the phatty gets home!!! hes a whipped bitch
May 24th, 2006 at 3:39 pm

@# Heathcliff Huxtable AKA Plug industries Says:
>>>The name of the song was drive slow. Its about having money and showing off. His verse was hot and he stayed on subject…..something that ti never does.
___________________________________________
Kanye’s verse led me to believe that driving slow was a metaphor for not succumbing to the ills of the fast life fast women etc..Paul’s verse officially deaded that notion hence making the song garbage in my point of view..T.I.’s verse made this song official sanitation.
@ coldplayReggaetonslasher Says:
“we got serious issues here, and while some would rather buy a new outfit and hit the club (jay-z)…most would rather find a solution to our social problems.”
I agree with 100%..hov does have that Carter Foundation thingy though..I think he gives away free sneakers to kids on the weekends or something like that.
May 24th, 2006 at 4:25 pm
Where Nas offer solutions to our problems? He more or less states his personal view of things.
May 24th, 2006 at 4:26 pm
listen, its one thing to say a yo momma or yo girl joke. he wasn’t making fun of her for being fat. HE EXPOSED THE FACT THAT HE WAS TWISTIN OUT HIS BABY MOMS. ether was a pack of lies. was it a great diss song? YES. probably one of the best of our time. but it can’t see super ugly. i know i’m one of the few who feels this way. but when i heard ether, i thought that shit was crazy. although there were a ton of lies in there, it was a fire diss record. but when i heard super ugly A DAY LATER, i almost lost it. it felt like all of brooklyn was just laughing at that dude. takeover attacked his career, super ugly attacked his character, and they both destroyed each. if jay started spittin yo momma jokes that shit would be lame, but he got at him with the truth. “okay, rockafella died of aids you moron, sure. but i really was twistin out the bitch whose mouth you kissin” thats some real shit right there.
May 24th, 2006 at 4:29 pm
and how do you know what dude is doing. what charities does nas do? i have never heard of nas contributing one fucking thing and i dont’ care cause i’m sure he’s broke. but you always hear about jayz charities.
“I put dollars on mine, ask Columbine
When the Twin Towers dropped, I was the first in line
Donating proceeds off every ticket sold
When I was out on the road, that’s how you judge Hov, no?”
May 24th, 2006 at 4:34 pm
People act like nas is just this deep dude or something. He ain’t Chuck D, Paris, Coup or anybody like that. He put words together like no other but duke ain’t really dropping jewels.
May 24th, 2006 at 4:34 pm
…REAL charity is done in private and silence…invitng the media and distributing press releases and making songs about your charitable works aint nothing but a photo-op…dont get me wrong, its a beautiful thing when someone gives back, but be humble or else it just looks like a power move and not charity…
May 24th, 2006 at 4:35 pm
I LIKE KANYE MUSIC.. BUT COME ON HOMIE… PAY THE PEOPLE FOR THE BENZ THAT YOU LEASED…. DAMN U LOOKING MIGHT IGNORANT RIGHT ABOUT NOW…
May 24th, 2006 at 4:38 pm
i definitly agree landlord. charities should be done for the good of the people recieving. but jays couple bars aren’t like game and loose change kissing and holding big checks at a press release. i’m sure those lines were a response to those in doubt of whether or not he gives back.
May 24th, 2006 at 4:40 pm
@at boff you buffoons…Im not on no Jay vs Nas shit.Im grown enough to appreciate both artists for what they do..I know Jay does his thing as far as putting up money for some school of white folks that get shot up, when schools get shot up in BK ereday..but hey I wont knock him on that he do more than me..but as far as gving back I didnt mean monetarily see when i said sneakers I used that as cheese to trap you 2 rats, In my opinion I feel as if Nas has given back to his people as a culture more knowledge and brain food than Jay..Jay while cerebral in his own sense, uses that mentality more to illustrate his clever ways of dealing drugs, shitting on women etc..*side note*..you think its coincidence soon as nas asked him if he “was mad at women” he suddenly has a “wifey”..this the same dude that was sayin how he never see past any woman to see her as “wifey”?
Both these niggas is human..all im sayin is Nas’ music is a better contribution to the cultural movement of hip hop than jays economic contributions..thats all..just my opinion….like Big Meech need to say…”Opinions are like FED cases…all my niggas got one”
May 24th, 2006 at 4:40 pm
@sourD
…agreed on Hov’s response…lol @ loosechange…for a second there i didnt know who the hell you were talking about…Sorry Ms. Jackson…
May 24th, 2006 at 4:47 pm
feces, i think jay made it clear as far as his opinion on women with the song “Bitches & Sisters”. and you’re comparing nas’s songs to jays financial contributions, thats apples and oranges dog. jay doesn’t only have songs glorifying selling drugs. im a business man and quite honestly, just like i applied jays hustlin songs when i was a stupid youth, i use them as a business man now. he glorifies the struggle of a hustler and i love and respect him for that. not to say that he’s confined to just talking about that. (see the Meet The Parents reference earlier) i feel nas has contributed nothing to the game recently except for a “how to turn respect into shame guide”.
May 24th, 2006 at 4:48 pm

It’s not about contridictions it’s about really being conscious and he is not. Nas has been know to be inaccurate a lot too. Check “These are our Heroes”. Check the “Rocafeller died of AIDS” lines.
Out side of “I Can” where is conscious material?
May 24th, 2006 at 5:04 pm
…i dig Nas as an MC…i just think he’s getting too predictable…”switch up your flow”… I still think he’s like top 3 or 5 of all time…no hate…
May 24th, 2006 at 5:04 pm
I respect your opinion my dude..I didnt say Jay only has songs glorifying the game, I respect dude as a rapper, as a person I dont, I see/know too much to be mesmerized by Jay’s swagger..I dont see his so called “accumen” for business..Dame was driving the bus over at Rocafella.. all his business moves to me have been about Jayz never about black people or this hip hop culture in general…..I do see Nas as a contradictory figure at times, nonetheless, but also one that would take a chance on “I know I can” being a single when his career was at the point where he could do some other shit..One may also argue that Nas doesnt make as good a pop song as Jayz I cant fault Jay for that but thats even one of the more reasons why I feel like Nas makes more brainfood music…is more culturally aware…All things being even if Nas and Jay both had labels and they offerd Lupe Fiasco a deal ..do you think Lupe would turn down both of them?…NAS is like your favorite cousin..JAY is like your favorite uncle..jay would always give you money..but you and nas would always get into some memorable shit.
May 24th, 2006 at 5:04 pm
Coldplay, that’s cool, but stop acting like the nigga is Farrakhan or something. do you respect a priests having sex with the congregation or corrupt cops? no and I’m not feeling an m.c. who says one thing and then contradicts himself in the next song.

i agree with these dudes again i like nas but people be acting like nas has actual done something to help out people other than him shit atleast we all know bleek is good for life nas doesnt even take care of his brother how is everyone depending on him to save the world. mad dudes kick more knowledge than nas, yea he has some shit but he aint near the concsiousness of dead prez talib mos pac i.t. paris krs all these other dudes. this is part of THE MYTH OF NAS i was talking about yesterday. he isnt the dude people make him out to be sorry
May 24th, 2006 at 5:11 pm
He didn’t really even drop knowledge in the song. When KRS did “Edutainment” and stuff like “You Must Learn” he was giving us brainfood.

Random Thought: Anybody, besides me, ever took a dump at work? I hate that. I work on the 4th floor and went all the way up to the 11th just so I can crap in solitude. Plus nobody uses those so the bathrooms are cleaner up there.

^^^ THAT WAS FOR SOUR D
Yes there are more conscious rappers than Nas, knowledgs is infinite there will always be someone greater..I feel liek Im grown enough to accept all forms of music for what it is..its all about how you use it..I listen to Nas when someone dies, or Im in a bad mood..illmatic relates to a good place I was in life, when all I had to worry about was sneaker money, niggas gettin shot not dying tho..I listen to Jay more when Im fresh dipped up, …Feelin on top of the world ready to go, fuck with some hoes…I listen to 50 once Im with the hoe..soon as I get her clothes off i hit mute..I listen to dead prez/joe budds/outcast when im feelin irie on some pro nigga coolout shit, smokin the herbs..just vibing out..I listen to dblock/uncle murder/niggas from round my way/mobb/ignorant rap when Im whippin the Tahoe thru the streets of NY..gott a have that ready to kill a nigga for scratchin your shit hittin old ladies for not walking out the streets fast enough haha…Its all about how you use the music man..
May 24th, 2006 at 5:15 pm
feces, on the lupe thing, i don’t think there’s anyway he would side with nas. i really don’t. in fact, i think lupe definitly has the potential to be ranked higher than nas. now don’t jump on that, he’s not there yet. but food & liquor has been in my and my boys cd player for weeks straight. and lupe actually raps conciously in a way that makes sense and isn’t just trying to sound smart. and didn’t jay executive produce his shit?
May 24th, 2006 at 5:19 pm
and i love illmatic feces. that shit is straight fire. i was only 11 when it came out and was 13 when i got the album. i think i smoked my first blunt listening to it aint hard to tell. the reason i argue about him is because i truly miss the talent that once was. but i do understand that you can’t recreate a mind state.
‘94 nas is 20x > than 00’s nas
sometimes its hard to believe that its the same person. sorta like mobb sleep.
May 24th, 2006 at 5:19 pm
el feces - first gives jets dap but i gotta take issue with you on this
Dame was driving the bus over at Rocafella.. all his business moves to me have been about Jayz never about black people or this hip hop culture in general…..I do see Nas as a contradictory figure at times, nonetheless, but also one that would take a chance on “I know I can†being a single when his career was at the point where he could do some other shit..
first if it was so much about dame how come GRAFH isnt killing it like HOV how come dash is struggling for anything now? you gotto give jay more credit than that but who cares that has nothing to do with the music.
you wanna talk about taking a chance with ” i know i can ” at a point where yea he feel off but he was already ethced in stone as amongst the hip-hop elite forever, why dont you talk about the chance that jay took with “HARD KNOCK LIFE ” dude used a broadway play sample, but yet it perfectly described the feeling of what its like growing up in the hood
“It’s the hard knock life, for us
Steada treated, we get tricked
Steada kisses, we get kicked
It’s the hard knock life”
and i hated on that song at first cause i didnt knowledge the verses this is at the point in jay’s career where it was make it or break it and he took a chance with that shit. people give nas WAY TOO much credit for being conscious and JAY not enough for saying shit of relevance, and really whats relevant whats important has nas ever done anything that really help your life better other than give you good music to listen to? what nas song helped better your life? and in what way?

MY POINT EXACTLY
May 24th, 2006 at 5:24 pm
ok..Im not trying to invent the wheel my brother i can see thru your eyes..just like tehres no balance in music theres no balance in life..we are so conditioned to choose one brother over the other..I like jay as a rapper….Jay is cool..Nas is cool..In my opinon Nas is more consciously aware of the plight of black folks, and black folks music ..Trust me I think both these niggas is puzzy I seen both these dudes and would never back down from either one in a dark alley..so Im not talkin bout no street credibility shit..im talkin about the black culture as far as our history as a hip hop nation, when nas speaks about Bambaata and Kool Herc and just music in general theres a presence there that I have never seen Jay capture to this point…
May 24th, 2006 at 5:25 pm
sour..i think lupe would sign to nas..if everything was even.
May 24th, 2006 at 5:25 pm
yet it feels like jay is that same dude with a lil more swagger and a bigger wallet right biggs? thats the difference for me. is the person that i was listening to on reasonable doubt is the same person i was listening to on the black album. not to say there weren’t a few pop songs on there and a much bigger media machine behind it, but its the same fuckin dude.
May 24th, 2006 at 5:30 pm
i’d like to know what other think about that feces, its a good debate. who would lupe sign with?
personally, i can’t see him fuckin with nas. on a track yeah, production and creative thinking wise, no. nas could barely hold down himself let alone someone else. jay touches a track and its gold.
now normally, i don’t like choosing sides. when beans and jada were beefing, although jada ripped him, i didn’t start hating on beans. but i didn’t like nas before jay tore into em. but once jay aired the same grievances with nas (hiphop wise not that wifey ish) i just couldn’t fucks with him anymore. it was like a stamp and approval on the way i felt. i wasn’t just somebody who got out of touch with good hiphop, it was the community as a whole acknowledging that its not the same guy anymore.
May 24th, 2006 at 5:33 pm
damn im a bit late, had to make a run at this chick who passed by my window, got her jersey(name & number for the slow people)… aiight, looking at the people who are better then nas, i couldnt agree more, but i think the top person today really putting out that, take notes im rhyming, type hiphop, has gotta be technique, there aint a track this guy has that hasnt had me thinking, whether its about old love flames, people he raped, or just straight fuck the president, he’s got me thinking for hours after… Tech is the man right now in my opinion

May 24th, 2006 at 5:39 pm
i like jay i like nas..i like nas more… one of Hip Hops testaments is thou shall not bite… errybody gotta bit of somebody else in em n/h but jays list is a bit on the absurd side even if he is just “big uppin his man”. jays charisma is more powerful than nas’. jay makes the hoes wanna party nas “be stressin talkin that ole off the wall back to africa shit again..what that God Body shit? yeah that dumb shit” niggas gonna roll with the females so its a wrap on that level..
May 24th, 2006 at 5:43 pm
Lupe is actually an admitted Nas stan.
May 24th, 2006 at 5:45 pm
“when beans and jada were beefing, although jada ripped him, i didn’t start hating on beans.”
^^ Jada ripped Beans??? Sorry homie, gotta disagree with you on that one. Beans murdered that “Put Your Hands Up” beat. I mean, Jada coming back with the disco beat was cool. But Beans was like a pitbull on that song and Jada got his ass handed. I know that beef is old, but I think Beans got the upper hand.

Thinkin’ back
Reminiscing on my teens
A young g
Getten’ paid over dope fiends
Fuckin’ off cash that i make
Nigga, what’s tha sense of workin hard
If you never get tp play
I’m hustlen’
Stayin’ out till it’s dawn
And commin’ home
At 6 o’clock in tha mornin’
Hand’s on my glock
Eye’s on tha prize
Finger on tha trigga when a nigga rides
Shootin’ craps
Bustin’ niggas out tha door
Pick my money off tha floor
God bless tha tre-four
Stuck on full, drunk again
Sippin’ on gin
With a couple of friends
Sayin’ those thug life niggas be like major pimps
Stickin’ to tha rules is what made it simp
And if i die
Let it be
But when they come for me
Bury me a g

i guess it makes sense but i still can’t see lupe wanting to put his album in nas’s hands. i’ll stand by all nas would get would be a track.
billz, billz, billz. its a shame we finally have to disagree homie. i don’t know one person that thinks beans one. you are literally the first to bring that my way. beans kept going and going, but jada’s content was ridiculous. thats probably in my top 10 diss songs of all time.

Guess whos bizzack
Still smell the blow on my clothes
Like crispy cream i was cooking them o’s
Like horseshoes i was tossin them o’s
Time to re-up gotta recycle the flow
Im emotional
I hug the block
Im so emotional
I love my glock
Cash rules everything around me
So whats realer
Bout the scriller so call me a ghost face killa
Its kinda hard to be drug free
When Geogia Power wont give a n***a lights free
Switched hustles been killin em ever since
Been paid to tell the truth it only make sense

The streets love jeezy and I love ‘em back
If I still had the work I getcha sack
It’s all gravy still reaching wit my words
And make ‘em feel good on the first and the third
Take you back when I was sixteen wit a bankroll
Posted on a corner like a light pole
They used to call us trap stars
Before they even stopped we ran to dem cars
And everybody on the block got the same agenda
Hustle from the beginning of January til the end of December
Wasn’t smokin purple then it was more like bobby brown
On that hen dog got a nigga straight drinkin brown (7/11 nigga you know)
You know 10 to 4 shake ‘em up talk shit get my drink and let ‘em go
Even when I’m on the road the gangstas stay in touch
Why the f**k you think they love me so much? (ha ha!)

don’t quote jeezy it makes you look foolish.
I swear to God niggas have mad hate on Nas. All the nas fans even like JAY, but wont go so far to diss him. Ya’ll dick riding niggas dislike nas because of your love for jay. Pardon me but you have something on your lips.
Sorry But Beans got Jada. But I really dont consider that beef. To me it was at the wrong time, and many people dont bring that up. It was almost like a non battle.
Nas never claimed he was god body. That nigga considered himself a street poet. Ya’ll talk how he contradict himself, but tupac did the same thing. They both greats. This shit is rap. Get a grip.
If you gonna let a song dictate your life. You’re crazy and a fool. They BOTH had inspirational songs. Like Chris rock said:
STEP AWAY FROM THE DICK, JUST PUT THE DICK DOWN.
May 24th, 2006 at 6:18 pm

Suckers I clobber, because my town is full of cops and robbers
Youre not promised tomorrow in this little shop of horrors
So I got to get with the business of hit quick
Moneygrips pockets looking thick so I stick slick
Hold it right here, hands in the air, I know you got the loot
Or better yet, face down on the ground, empty your pockets troop
Hit the deck I got the tech right on your neck
And I expect to make a buck to heck with a travellers check
But if a vic tries to choke me
Ill have to smoke him like Im smokey the bear, so okie dokie
Goodbye, or bon voyage, have a good journey
Dont even try begging for your life, that dont concern me
So to the next weasel that freezes
Your begging and your pleases only getting your closer to meeting jesus
Yeah, I shake a schmuck just to make a buck
Then I break a duck and if the duck gotta get bucked then I dont give a fuck
Hyper as a sniper piping niggas like a plumber
Cold vicking and sticking up the ones that run the numbers
Or even a bigger score, the lady in the liquor store
Go inside and kick in the door, pull her then Im stickin her for
Money or your life, honey hurry and choose
You lose, because I got the ill street blues

YES IVE SAID A HUNDRED TIMES I REALLY HONESTLY FEEL THAT THE BLACK ALBUM IS A GROWN UP VERSION OF REASONABLE DOUBT AND I MAY NOT BE HOV’S AGE OR NEAR IT BUT IM ON MY GROWN MAN SHIT AND I HONESTLY THINK IN 5 YEARS THE BLACK ALBUM WILL BE LOOKED AT AS AN = TO
REASONABLE DOUBT.

1. 1st cd introduces you to the world
2. 2nd cd Show thats its not a fluke
3. 3rd cd Show creativity (maybe some knowledge)
4. 4th You should be on some kickin knowledge type s..t
5. 5th On some NEW S..T for the world.
Where did jay accomplish this at in his career to retire. I dont wanna hear about donations to katrina. His voices reaches more ears then pockets

E-40 is a bay legend and Young Jeezy is the D-boy of the south. If you ask who is better as far as lyrics go you would say E-40 but if you ask who is a better all around artist you would say Jeezy becuzz of his signature adlibs and he is only on his first album so i see Young Jeezy getting better as time goes. E-40 is probably on his last limb since that Hyphy movement hasen’t turned into sales yet for E-40

Damn, Kanye is unstoppable right now. I remember only a couple months ago, everybody was saying 50 was king in hip-hop. Watch out motherfucker, because the entire Grammy Family hates your ass, if you are to believe all those damn call-in’s on Game’s mixtapes.
Still Late Registration, not nearly as good as College Dropout, still has two, maybe three good singles in. Each single move maybe another 300,000-500,000 units because they are so different. “Addiction” and “Celebration” for sure. Hopefully we will be able to get to see those videos before his next album drops. Maybe Kanye will release a true video anthology for Late Registration, maybe show a little more than 50 just sitting around.
Great video by the way, not really what I was expecting, but great anyway. I was kinda hoping they would go in the direction of how important your car is as a status symbol in that period of your life during and right after high school. This song brought back the memories.
Fucking T.I., seriously, loved your last three albums, but all the countdown shows are going to cut your lazy ass rhyme off to make more room for other people. That shit was fucking horrible.
Did anybody else expect to hear Common next?
Now I know a lot of people are going to accuse me of being a Kanye Stan, and that he is a crazy nigga. You can’t listen to him because he is a cry baby, he is too arrogant, he is an idiot in interviews. But, to put it simply, you people are idiots, the same type of people who watch “Behind the Music”. I don’t give a fuck what they do outside the recording studio because my music experience revolves around me listening to music while working out or driving, and I love it. So all you people who read the biographies of artists while you listen to their music, you take this shit too seriously. Seriously, I’m the type of person who if not for the new CD Text and MP3’s, would not know any of the names of the songs and just call them by their track numbers. Never take out the cd slip, who gives a fuck, that is not music.

you guys still on this jay/nas shit…
eskay, when we got plat of one topic its time to give us something more to think about… give us some news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
May 24th, 2006 at 8:39 pm
“arguing is a hella of a drug”And I’m fiending. Actually, I can’t stand the ignorance, so you guys drag me right back in.
Okay, I copied and pasted this from my old post. Now, I’m warning you guys, I now have this saved as a notepad file. Okay, read this very closely, if anybody compares Nastradamus to the Black Album, or even say the Black Album is wack, you will read this. Warning has been issued, ball is in your court Nazi’s:
Okay, I’ll take Reasonable Doubt as the level as Illmatic, but to say I Am is as good as Blueprint. Comon. Nastradamus is equal to The Black Album. What the fuck? If you dis the Black Album, then you haven’t listen to it. It is like a greatest hits but with completely new material. It has all of Jay’s greatest producers (Timbaland, Kanye, Neptunes), and it has all of his different styles. It is also an extremely personal album, which is defintely something that stands itself apart from the rest on the hip-hop aisle at Best Buy. To top it off, the skits don’t actually fuck up the album’s flow, which is amazing. Look at it like this:
“Threat†and “Justify My Thug†would be top tracks on Reasonable Doubt.
“Dirt Off Your Shouldersâ€
“What More Can I Sayâ€, “Encore†- these two would have fit in perfectly on the Blueprint.
“Change Clothes†- I know you people love to hate this one, but you can not deny the incredible flow of HOV on this one. No matter how you feel about the content.
“Moment of Clarity†is one of the top introspective songs all time. Nobody, not even Nas following the Takeover, comes close to criticising and analyzing Jay-Z as well as Sean Carter.
“99 Problemsâ€, “Luciferâ€, and “Allure†were all great songs that took Jay-Z into new territory. Fuck, I thought “Allure†would be more at place on a N.E.R.D. album.
What more do you want from a final album? It has all facets of Jay-Z, all producers present, and expands on that. Eskay, it may be early for you to say this one is a classic, but I’m calling it here right now. Black Album is a classic, and in 20 years we are going to look back, and see why Jay-Z never released another album, he already did the perfect farewell album. And I consider Nas an easy top ten all time, but to compare fucking Nastradamus to the Black Album is a god damn insult to the industry.

you dumbasses, i woke up and got online to kill time until she got home so we could go eat lunch together. that make me pussy whipped, because i would reather do something OMGZ in the real world instead of hear how an album made by a rapper and a producer shouldnt be judged as hiphop?
yeah, right. and i bet i “ran away” because i didnt feel like coming back to see what you all had to say and wasting my day arguing with a bunch of internet people, right? it had nothing to do with the pile of shit i actually had to do yesterday, did it?
yall crack me up.
and cee-lo green came up in the music world with one of the best production teams of all time, plain and simple. if he was somebody else, that would be something, but he isnt. organized can and has and does make beats in the vein of anything on the new album, only better in every way. dangermouse is a fucking terrible producer, thats all there is to it. he made the worst mf doom album ever, and a ton of white kids who hate rap bought it, and now he made the worst cee-lo album ever and the same thing is happening again. its not a surprize to me, but its bullshit you want me to be happy about it, or say just because its white boy emo music that i cant complain that it isnt hiphop.
now im going to go eat some breakfast, and maybe do some other shit. you can translate that into being a pussy wipped runaway if you want, but if you had any real shit to bring, you wouldnt need to try some weak ass shit like that. (no england)

The chopped up screwed like snip at the end of the song makes this real swishahouse baby T.I. holds it down to on the remix ” life bout whakes it not who makes it the fastest” the trealist line in the song dun, really pop but so many real hip hop lil joints in it
